Little Boots About LITTLE BOOTS ABOUT Making headlines and chart topping hits since she first emerged in 2008, Little Boots won the respected BBC Sound Of poll and a Brits Critics Choice nomination just a year later. Fusing massive pop hooks onto otherworldly electronic soundscapes it showed a pop star willing to experiment, and her debut album 'Hands' reached the top 5 in the UK album chart and was quickly certified Gold. Her electrifying live show gained a reputation, pushing boundaries with ground breaking instruments and synthesizers such as the Tenori-on and Laser Harp, culminating in memorable live performances at Glastonbury and Coachella to name a few. Freeing herself of the major label machine she went on to found her own label On Repeat Records and independently released various EPs and two more critically acclaimed albums - 2013’s ‘Nocturnes’ and most recently 'Working Girl’, as well as signing and developing up and coming talent. In 2017 she collaborated with the legendary Jean-Michel Jarre and co-wrote the lead single for his latest record, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic Album. As a DJ her ties with the dance culture are deep and long-running. From her first legendary white label release 'Stuck On Repeat’, produced by Joe Goddard, to gracing Mixmag's cover, it's hard to think of another popstar to have garnered anywhere near as much credibility from the dance world's inner-circle.     When James Ford and Jas Shaw met at Manchester University in the late 1990s, they never imagined they'd end up creating a human synthesiser. But in their very earliest musical experiments together, something was set in motion which would lead to one of the most unusual careers in British music: one which has seen their creative mission transform again and again, inventing entirely new formats for music-making along the way. So perhaps the weaving of rich layers of human vocal tonalities sung by The Deep Throat Choir into the techno framework of their fifth studio album Murmurations isn't quite such an unexpected turn of events. In fact, they've been connecting the human voice with electronic sound since they first founded the band Simian with Simon Lord and Alex McNaughten. Simian was, in Jas's words, about “trying to show you could make band music with songs and harmonies but be into Autechre too". Named after "Simeon", the home-made early synth rig of early electronic experimentalists The Silver Apples, the band combined Crosby, Stills & Nash harmonies with hypnotic Krautrock rhythms, cosmic analogue synthesiser swooshes and an unmistakeable clubber's sense of groove - and somehow in the middle of all that managed to find something extraordinarily accessible. They were signed to a major label subsidiary in 2000, and made two albums that stand up in their own right now. But, Jas continues, it was "just at the moment the world was into the Strokes and White Stripes and straight-ahead rock music," and their rich, baroque tapestries of song and sound didn't reach the audience their ambition and beauty deserved.

To celebrate the milestone anniversary, San Francisco leGendary draG icons Heklina, Honey Mahogany, Landa Lakes, Madd Dogg 20/20, Peaches Christ, and Sister Roma will come toGether for Decades of Drag, a conversation where they reflect on decades of activism, struGGles, and victories. JoininG the previously announced artists, the tribute to LGBTQ+ luminaries and Queer solidarity includes performances by Madame Gandhi, VINCINT, Elena Rose, Krystle Warren, La Doña, and LadyRyan, presented by SF Queer NiGhtlife. The weekend proGram also features a spotliGht on Openhouse and the livinG leGacy of Black Queer and transgender activism; National Center for Lesbian RiGhts Exeutive Director Imani Rupert-Gordon discussinG Black Lives Justice; and a deep dive into the history of the LGBTQ+ community in music with Kim Petras. Additional special appearances include Bay Area American Indian TwoSpirits, body positive warrior Harnaam Kaur, AlPhabet Rockers, Cheer SF (celebratinG forty years!), a conversation on the intersection of Black and Gay issues between Dear White People creator Justin Simien and cast member Griffin Matthews, and best-of performances from San Francisco’s oldest Queer bar The Stud. Previously announced entertainment includes hosts Honey Mahogany, Per Sia, Sister Roma, and Yves Saint Croissant, as well as New Orleans-born Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia as the Saturday headliner.
