Study Abroad Programs & Deadlines Study Abroad Programs & Deadlines Semester Affiliated & Partner Programs Open Enrollment Programs Majority of E-town’s affiliated programs are Open Enrollment Programs. Any student, who meets the study abroad eligibility requirements of the College and the individual program, should be approved by E-town to attend any Open Enrollment program of their choice. Students applying for Open Enrollment Programs need to submit their Elizabethtown College study abroad application by the regular deadline. Applications for Open Enrollment Programs will be accepted on a rolling basis, so it’s never too early to submit your E-town study abroad application! Limited Enrollment Programs A smaller list of affiliated programs are Limited Enrollment (LE) Programs. These offerings are competitive programs. Several of them have a 3.0 minimum GPA requirement and/or a language prerequisite requirement. The LE designation indicates that a limited number of E-town students will be approved by the College to attend these programs each semester due to increased institutional costs and/or competitive placement. The program sites designed as LE will be determined on a year-to-year basis by the Study Abroad Office. The number of placements available at each site will also be determined on a year-to-year basis by the Study Abroad Office. While we will do our best to accommodate your interests - students are not guaranteed their first choice of LE Programs, even if they meet the College’s and program’s requirements. Approval to attend LE Programs is granted after extensive review and approval by the Director of the Center for Global Understanding and Peacemaking as well as the Study Abroad Advisor. Preference will be given to students required to study abroad for their major and those who have identified a strong, academic reason to attend their selected program. Essay submissions, GPA and date of application submission will also be considered in approvals. Students interested in applying for LE Programs will need to submit their Elizabethtown College study abroad application by an earlier deadline. Late applications will not be accepted. Applications for LE Programs will not be reviewed until after the LE application deadline. Students will be notified if they were approved to attend an LE program prior to the regular deadline. Therefore, they will have time to select an alternative, Open Enrollment Program, if necessary. Students are advised not to start their program’s application until after they’ve been officially approved by the College to attend an LE Program, as some providers charge non-refundable application fees before students can start their application. Partner Programs Elizabethtown College also recommends that students consider attending our Partner Programs: School for Field Studies (SFS) and American University’s (AU) programs. These programs are separate from our affiliated list, because students are responsible for the full costs of these programs. They’re unable to apply their E-town scholarships for their semester abroad, but may be awarded scholarship through SFS or AU. However, we do encourage students to consider these programs due to their academic quality, so students attending these programs are only charged the standard $250 application fee, not the $1,000 non-affiliated fee.
