HPPL Directory of Local Nonprofit Organizations Page 1 serving the greater High Point Area (2020)

Directory of Local Nonprofit Organizations

Information for this list of organizations has been taken from many sources, including the Guidestar online database (at www.guidestar.org), the United Way of Greater High Point, the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium, the Business High Point Chamber of Commerce, various telephone directories, and the websites of the organizations themselves.

Every effort was made to contact the organizations in the directory to ensure the information listed is correct and up to date. The names of organizations that updated their listing for the 2020 edition have been italicized.

Churches, other places of worship, and organizations whose missions are primarily religious are not included in this directory. Some charitable ministries serving social roles are, however, included in this directory.

Additional information on grant-making philanthropic organizations (both in the High Point area itself and elsewhere in the United States) can be downloaded from the Foundation Directory Online database, which is available at the library.

Many organizations on this list are located outside of High Point. Organizations based in Greensboro, Archdale, Jamestown, and Trinity have been invited to participate for this edition because they serve citizens in the High Point area.

All different kinds of organizations with nonprofit status are represented in this directory. Donations to these organizations may or may not be tax-deductible, depending on the type of nonprofit status of the organization.

If you know of any organizations in the High Point area that should be included in this directory but aren’t, contact the library’s Business Research Services section at (336) 883-3670, or email John Raynor at [email protected]. Also, if you notice any mistakes or omissions, please direct them to our attention as well.

NTEE Classification Codes: This year’s edition of the directory continues to include one or more National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) classification codes for almost all of the organizations listed. NTEE codes supplied by the organizations themselves were used whenever possible, supplemented by codes by Guidestar and the National Center for Charitable Statistics when necessary. Utilizing the NTEE classification codes made it possible to include an index of organizations sorted by function.
