25 ESSENTIAL QUALITIES OF A YOGA THERAPIST BY JOSEPH LE PAGE IYT Yoga therapists cultivate twenty-five qualities that allow them to practice effectively. These qualities are relevant to all Yoga therapists regardless of the tradition in which they have been trained and have a direct impact on students and clients who have selected Yoga therapy as part of their wellness program. 1. Selfless Service: sevā. The Yoga therapist receives a fair compensation for their professional services, but they also maintain an attitude of selfless service, a sense of a larger vision than their own personal sustenance. 2. Grounding: dṛḍha bhūmiḥ. The Yoga therapist cultivates a sense of grounding and stability at all levels of being. This begins at the level of the physical body where they develop the strength and stability to assist students and clients with poses easily. This grounding is also important at the psycho-emotional level so that any imbalance within clients or students can be met from a place of stability and centering. 3. Self-healing: svacikitsā. At all times, the therapist needs to uphold the inherent ability of all clients and students for self-healing. This self-healing process begins with the therapists themselves who learn to connect with the essence of healing within their own being, bringing that healing nectar into their own lives and also showing students and clients how to access it. 4. Body Awareness: kāya cetana. Awareness is the foundation of Yoga therapy and body awareness involves deepening our understanding and sensitivity of all five koshas. This enhanced awareness is therapeutic in itself and serves as the foundation for both evaluating a student’s needs and for choosing all of the appropriate Yoga tools and techniques. -

To my teacher Prof. Kamalakar Mishra Preface It can not be said categorically that Abhinavagupta propounded his aesthetic theories to support or to prove his Tantric philosophy but it can be said definitely that he expounded his aesthetic philoso phy in light of his Tantric philosophy. Tantrism is non-dualistic as it holds the existence of one Reality, the Consciousness. This one Reality, the consciousness, is manifesting itself in the various forms of knower and known. According to Tantrism the whole world of manifestation is manifesting out of itself (consciousness) and is mainfesting in itself. The whole process of creation and dissolution occurs within the nature of consciousness. In the same way he has propounded Rasadvaita Darsana, the Non-dualistic Philosophy of Aesthetics. The Rasa, the aesthetic experience, lies in the conscious ness, is experienced by the consciousness and in a way it itself is experiencing state of consciousness: As in Tantric metaphysics, one Tattva, Siva, manifests itself in the forms of other tattvas, so the one Rasa, the Santa rasa, assumes the forms of other rasas and finally dissolves in itself. Tantrism is Absolute idealism in its world-view and epistemology. -

SUBBA ROW AN APPRECIATION MY acquaintance with T. Subba Row began at the end of 1884, when I came here to Madras and settled down with the intention of practising in the High Court. It was at the Theosophical Convention of 1884 that I first met him, and from the very first moment became so deeply attracted to him as to make it difficult for me to understand why it was so. My admiration of his ability was so great that I began to look upon him almost from that time as a great man. He was a very well-made robust man, and strikingly intellectual. When H. P. B. was here, he was known to be a great favourite of hers. It was said that he first attracted " her attention by a paper called The Twelve Signs of the Zodiao ", which was afterwards published. At the Convention, there was much talk on various topics, and he always spoke with decision, and his views carried great weight. But he spoke little and only what was necessary. There was then a small committee of which Colonel Olcott was the Presi- dent. -

The Publication of Bhagavān Vedaḥ in 1970 Borayin Larios | orcid: 0000-0001-7237-9089 Institut für Südasien-, Tibet- und Buddhismuskunde, Universität Wien, Vienna, Austria [email protected] Abstract This article discusses the first Indian compilation of the four Vedic Saṃhitās into a printed book in the year 1971 entitled “Bhagavān Vedaḥ.” This endeavor was the life’s mission of an udāsīn ascetic called Guru Gaṅgeśvarānand Mahārāj (1881–1992) who in the year 1968 founded the “Gaṅgeśvar Caturved Sansthān” in Bombay and appointed one of his main disciples, Svāmī Ānand Bhāskarānand, to oversee the publication of the book. His main motivation was to have a physical representation of the Vedas for Hindus to be able to have the darśana (auspicious sight) of the Vedas and wor- ship them in book form. This contribution explores the institutions and individuals involved in the editorial work and its dissemination, and zooms into the processes that allowed for the transition from orality to print culture, and ultimately what it means when the Vedas are materialized into “the book of the Hindus.” Keywords Vedas – bibliolatry – materiality – modern Hinduism – darśana – holy book … “Hey Amritasya Putra—O sons of the Immortal. Email Id : [email protected] Contact :9910815168 Abstract : There are wide range of metaphysical philosophies, that outline the yogic techniques to attain the strengthening of the God’s instruments, such as the heart, the lungs, the brain and the divine awareness. When the idea of yoga, strikes a person, a sense of discipline comes to the mind and its regular practice helps one to connect to the self and the spiritual powers. The practice of yoga, such as pranayama, padmasan, touching feet, suryanamaskar, to name a few, facilitates one to uplift one’s selfish interests, negative attitude, hatred and ego to the divine knowledge of the self awareness and then the higher phase of transcendence, with the help of the deep meditation. The knowledge is not something to be grasped or roted, but to strengthen the equanimity, the integrity and the positive thinking, for the social discipline and the social welfare.The knowledge of the yogas and its types, has been a part of the teaching and the religious shastras, since the time of the Gurukul education, such as the Gyan -Yoga or the knowledge, the Bhakti -Yoga or the devotion and the Karma – Yoga or the performance of karma. In the Holy book of BhagavadGita, it is mentioned that Arjuna’s mind is full of doubts, ambiguity, fear, convictions and the distress. -

P> Question arises : here is birth, physical growth, such as a girl, badhu, and various forms like sadhana in the midst of all--what are all these then ? In all changes, 'it is the same self at all times'. That is, in all changes or absence of change, it is the one and the same. Where the question of one, two has no place, what Ma refers to as THAT only, this is Ma, Herself in Herself in the midst of us all! The question of re-birth, or previous birth does not arise. It is self-revealed a play with the appearance of a body through Her own Kheyala. Then what is the objective of sadhana, where attainment, non-attainment, all indeed is the self - It is Her own play with Herself in Her own Kheyala. Just as there is rising, sitting, movement, speaking, etc., of the body, so also the play of sadhana, discourses on abstruse truths, etc., are the same indeed - THAT only. Therefore, what it is being all, the same it is, indeed, without being any -THAT only absolutely.
