Another year has flown by, and CONTENTS here we are once again at the opening of G- FEST. For those who wait eagerly for this event, particularly young people, perhaps it Welcome...................................................................3 seems to be a long time in coming. To those of us who prepare it, I can assure you, the calendar days leading up to July 14 have Special guests and presenters.........................4, 5 flown by very fast. But the show always seems to come together, ready or not! Map of G-FEST rooms..........................................6 The past year has been an exciting one for Godzilla’s fans. The drought of Japanese G-films, that had lasted more than a The Dealer Room...................................................7 decade, ended with the release of Shin Godzilla. The film’s success was spectacular in its native Japan, both financially and critically, culminating in the Japanese Academy Award for Best Picture. This is Daily schedule of events................................8 - 10 not the type of praise we G-fans are used to, to put it mildly, and it’s a bit disorienting! Descriptions of informational sessions.......11- 13 Here in the west, Funimation gave the film a limited release, which garnered mostly positive reviews and full theaters. G-fans’ reactions ran the gamut, but undeniably, Shin Godzilla breathed even Autographs.................................13 more life into a franchise that was already energized Stateside. As things currently stand, we can expect at least two more American- made live action features, and a trilogy of G-anime movies from Japan, Contests.............................................. 13 beginning this year. Shin Godzilla’s success will likely inspire more entries in the series in Japan, though nothing has been formally G-FEST Movies at the Pickwick.........................14 announced as yet. Thanks to Funimation, we can finally screen a new Godzilla movie this year at G-FEST, the first since Final Wars in 2005! We are G-FEST Film Festival..........................................15 also honored to host Shin G’s co-director Shinji Higuchi, already a friend we met in 2011 and now a Japan Academy Award winner himself. So expect a lot of Shin G buzz this weekend; G-FEST XXIV Minya’s Place ....................................15 is the first chance we’ve had to discuss the feature as a group... face to face, at least. G-FEST In-house Movie Channel...............16 - 17 Long time G-FEST attendees will notice a few changes to our regular routine once again this year. Last year, we hosted a bevy of kaiju movie stars, and much of their time was devoted to signing G-fans Helping G-fans ............................17 autographs. This year we have focused mostly on “behind the cameras” guests, and are anticipating they will spend less time signing autographs and more time enjoying the convention and mingling with Artist Alley.......................................18 the fans. To that end, we have scaled back the time allotment for autographs to what it was a few years back. See elsewhere in this Who’s who at G-FEST........................................ 19 program for details. Continued growth of the costume parade has necessitated splitting it into two, one for young fans on Friday evening and a Modeling contest and instruction................20-21 second for adult fans on Saturday evening. Both are incorporated into programs that will be entertaining, and still allow time for travel to the Pickwick to catch the featured film. Gaming...............................21 Presentation of the major awards has been shifted to the Saturday night event, and a couple of new awards have been added. Costumes and tokusatsu information................ 22 The programming is, as usual, “ALL NEW, NEVER BEFORE SEEN!” but the format of the rest of G-FEST should be comfortingly familiar. So welcome back, or for first-timers welcome here! Our History of G-FEST and awards...........................23 annual G-family reunion is about to get underway. I hope you will make the most of it, and depart loaded with happy memories, new friendships... and a decent haul from the Dealers Room. Have fun! • Macro Wrap-Up: a Monetary Policy Mechagodzilla
Macro Wrap-Up: A Monetary Policy Mechagodzilla August 3, 2018 Japan hasn’t played a large role in market moves this year. It’s been an afterthought in discussions about trade, with Europe, China and the U.S. getting most of the attention. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, even minor financial news stories from Japan could have major repercussions for currency, fixed income and equity markets, but now it seems Godzilla could attack Tokyo and global bond markets wouldn’t move a bp. That was until two weeks ago, when rumors of a Bank of Japan (BOJ) move began to spread. 1By Tuesday, trading desks in New York and London were left scrambling to find accurate translations of a BOJ press conference, and Japan suddenly seemed like the most relevant market in the world. Since the BOJ instituted its Yield Curve Control (YCC) policy in 2016, ten-year JGB yields have been in a very narrow range around 0 bps. The reason the BOJ moved from traditional quantitative easing to yield targeting was simply that its balance sheet had expanded so much that it seemed like it might run out of bonds to buy. 2YCC has solved that problem and kept ten-year rates pegged near zero, but it has also left volatility so low that some tactical investors have reduced their exposures to JGBs. Volumes in the market have declined.3 However, this complacency about Japan, on the part of international investors, may make global markets even more vulnerable to future moves in JGBs. Some strategists have suggested the low yields in Japan (and perhaps Germany) have dragged down global yields via the substitution effect.

Doesn't Fulfull PotentialBy Le Night Dominator"Godzilla: History's Greatest Monster" was originally published as "Godzilla" for 13 issues. This paperback volume contains all of them, and in full color (unlike the Dark Horse and Marvel Godzilla reprints). If you're a fan of the franchise and want to get into the comics, I recommend that you start elsewhere. I'm not a frequent reader of comic books, but I'll try my best to provide an insight on why this particular series didn't exactly hit the mark.First of all, the characters are largely uninteresting. We follow a group of bounty hunters as they attempt to take down Godzilla's massive friends and foes for billions of dollars. Illegally, I might add. This sounds like a fun idea on paper, but let's get down to the actual people themselves: The protagonist is a man named Boxer, who loses two young children to Godzilla and wants revenge and has a ex-wife as part of his team.

Introduction In the year 1954, the United States government performed 6 nuclear weapons tests in and around the Pacific Ocean. However, this is just the official story. The truth of the matter is that the U.S. Government and Monarch, a multinational, cryptozoological research organization, were trying to kill an ancient and terrifying apex predator. A Titan. This titans name is Titanus Gojira, more recognizably called Gojira or Godzilla. Godzilla’s species ruled the Earth hundreds of millions of years ago, when radiation levels on the planet were astronomically higher. The advent and testing of nuclear weapons awoke Godzilla from his hibernation on the bottom of Earth’s sea floor, where he was feeding off of the planets geothermal radiation. Despite being the first titan to awake, Godzilla is not the only titan that exists on Earth. There are countless others that still sleep or dwell in hidden areas around the world. You begin your stay within this world in 2014, just a scant few weeks before Joe and Ford Brody witness the awakening of the titan known as the MUTO. A scant few weeks before Godzilla becomes known to the world. Location San Francisco, California (1) San Francisco is a massive American metropolis with an area of about 231 square miles. It is bustling with a population nearing one million and holds some of America’s most iconic landmarks. However, this could all change very quickly in the coming years. This city will become the site of an incredible battle between Godzilla and the two MUTO in the year 2014, which will cause severe damage to the city as a whole.
