Cineplex Events’ Stage Series Continues with Performances from Jude Law, , Andrew Garfield Broadcast Live to Theatres

Toronto, ON (TSX: CGX), XXX, 2017 – Cineplex Events today announced the addition of critically acclaimed National Theatre performances to its 2017 Stage Series.

The Stage Series provides audiences with the opportunity to watch world-renowned theatre performances featuring highly revered actors from the comfort of their local Cineplex theatre. Broadcast or captured live to 65 theatres across Canada, new Stage Series offerings include:

HEDDA GABLER - National Theatre Live April 1, 2017 (Encore) Directed by Patrick Marber; Starring Ruth Wilson

Just married. Bored already. Hedda longs to be free. Hedda and Tesman have just returned from their honeymoon and the relationship is already in trouble. Trapped but determined, Hedda tries to control those around her, only to see her own world unravel.

Tony Award-winning director Ivo van Hove (A View from the Bridge at the Young Vic Theatre) returns to National Theatre Live screens with a modern production of Ibsen’s masterpiece. Ruth Wilson (Luther, The Affair, Jane Eyre) plays the title role in a new version by Patrick Marber (Notes on a Scandal, Closer).

TWELFTH NIGHT - National Theatre Live April 6, 2017 (Live) and May 20, 2017 Directed by Simon Godwin; Starring

Olivier award winner Tamsin Greig (Episodes) is Malvolia in a new twist on Shakespeare’s classic Formatted: Font color: Auto comedy of mistaken identity. A ship is wrecked on the rocks. Viola is washed ashore but her twin brother Sebastian is lost. Determined to survive on her own, she out to explore a new land. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love. The nearby households of Olivia and Orsino are overrun with passion. Even Olivia's upright housekeeper Malvolia is swept up in the madness. Where music is the food of love, and nobody is quite what they seem, anything proves possible.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Equus), Joshua McGuire (The Hour) and David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Witness for the Prosecution) star in ’s brilliantly funny situation comedy, broadcast live from The Old Vic theatre in . David Leveaux’s new production marks the 50th anniversary of the play that made a young Tom Stoppard famous overnight.

Set against the backdrop of , two hapless minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, take centre stage. As the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of Shakespeare’s iconic drama, they become increasingly out of their depth as their version of the story unfolds.

Shakespeare’s most poetic love story, Love’s Labour’s Lost comes to life in this Stratford Festival production, helmed by Tony and Olivier award-winning director John Caird. A coming-of-age story unlike any other, it dwells sweetly on the naiveté of youth while leading its protagonists to understand the true meaning – and cost – of love. This ‘sublime’ (The Toronto Star) ‘masterpiece’(National Post) was called ‘the most vibrant production of the play I’ve ever seen’ (AM New York).

OBSESSION - National Theatre Live from the Barbican May 11, 2017 (Live) and June 24, 2017 Directed by Ivo van Hove; Starring Jude Law

Based on Luchino Visconti’s 1943 film Obsession tells the story of Gino (Jude Law – The Talented Mr Ripley, Hamlet), a strikingly handsome but down-at-heel drifter and Giovanna, a young woman trapped in her marriage. At a roadside restaurant Gino encounters Giovanna and her husband, Giuseppe. Irresistibly attracted to each other, Gino and Giovanna begin a fiery affair and plot to murder her husband. But, in this chilling tale of passion and destruction, the crime only serves to tear them apart.

In the early hours of the morning on the campus of an American college, Martha, much to her husband George’s displeasure, has invited the new professor and his wife to their home for some after-party drinks. As the alcohol flows and dawn approaches, the young couple are drawn into George and Martha’s toxic games until the evening reaches its climax in a moment of devastating truth-telling.

All children grow up, except for one! A delight for children and adults alike, Sally Cookson (NT Live: Jane Eyre) directs this wondrously inventive production of JM Barrie’s much-loved tale, a co- production with theatre.

When Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys, loses his shadow, headstrong Wendy helps him to reattach it. In return, she is invited to Neverland, where Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook await. A riot of magic, music and make-believe ensues.

SALOMÉ - National Theatre Live June 22, 2017 (Live) and July 15, 2017 Directed by Yaël Farber; Starring Isaballa Niloufar

The story has been told before, but never like this. An occupied desert nation. A radical from the wilderness on hunger strike. A girl whose mysterious dance will change the course of the world. This charged retelling turns the infamous biblical tale on its head, placing the girl we call Salomé at the centre of a revolution. Internationally acclaimed theatre director Yaël Farber (Les Blancs) draws on multiple accounts to create her urgent, hypnotic production.
