Caleres Presents St. Louis Symphony Landmarks Concert Series, Youth Orchestra Concerts

For the second year, Caleres, and its healthy living brands including Naturalizer, Dr. Scholl’s, LifeStride, Bzees and Rykä, will sponsor the St. Louis Symphony Landmarks Concert Series for the 2015 season.

The Landmarks Concert Series Presented by Caleres brings the world-famous St. Louis Symphony to some of city’s most-loved landmarks where they perform shorter concerts that people of all ages can enjoy.

The concert series was made possible by a donation to the St. Louis Symphony from the Caleres Trust. All concerts are free to the public.

The concerts include:

7 p.m. Friday, October 2 – Kicking off the 2015 STL Landmarks Series are violinists Erin Schreiber and Helen Kim, violists Beth Guterman Chu and Jonathan Chu, and cellist Bjorn Ranheim in performance of Felix Mendelssohn's two string quintets. These quintets have the rather unusual addition of a second viola to the standard string quartet. This concert is Part of the Viola Quintet Project! Free tickets may be reserved in person at the Saint Louis Art Museum's Information Centers, including on the day of performance.

12 noon Friday, October 9 – Old Courthouse STL Symphony musicians return to the Old Courthouse to perform chamber music in this majestic and history filled St. Louis landmark. In keeping with the mission of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, The Strings of Arda, an ensemble from the STL Symphony featuring Asako Kuboki and Rebecca Boyer Hall, violin, Christian Woehr, viola, Alvin McCall, cello, Christopher Carson, double bass, and Thomas Stubbs, percussion, will perform Nights, an original composition by Christian Woehr. Violist Kathleen Mattis will join The Strings of Arda for this performance.

7 p.m. Tuesday, October 20 - Central Public Library The STL Landmarks Series returns to the beautiful Central Library in the heart of St. Louis. This concert features a program of music for woodwind quintet by Samuel Barber, Carl Nielsen and Derek Bermel with Jennifer Nitchman, flute, Jelena Dirks, oboe, Scott Andrews, clarinet, Andrew Cuneo, bassoon, and Roger Kaza, horn.

7 p.m. Friday, November 6 - Jewel Box Join musicians from the STL Symphony for an evening of music inside the exquisite Jewel Box in . This year, we are proud to present The 442s - a fusion ensemble featuring STL Symphony musicians Shawn Weil, violin, and Bjorn Ranheim, cello, and jazz musicians from the Erin Bode Group Syd Rodway, bass, and Adam Maness, composer and multi instrumentalist - in performance with special guest vocalist and STL Symphony IN UNISON Artist in Residence, Brian Owens.

1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10 – New to the STL Landmarks Series this season is the Missouri History Museum. Join us for an incredible string quartet performance in the gorgeous Grand Hall featuring violinists Eva Kozma and Jooyeon Kong, violist Morris Jacob, and cellist Anne Fagerburg performing Janáček's Intimate Letters and Beethoven's Op. 135.
