THE HARYANA PRIVATE UNIVERS ITIES (SECOND AMENDMENT) BILL, 2016 A BILL further to amend the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006. BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Haryana in the Sixty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. This Act may be called the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2016. Short title. 2. For sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006 (hereinafter Amendment of called the principal Act), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:- section 17 of Haryana Act 32 “(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor as per the of 2006. qualifications prescribed by the University Grants Commission, subject to the provisions contained in sub-section (7) and shall hold office for a term of three years: Provided that after expiry of the term of three years, the Vice-Chancellor shall be eligible for re-appointment for subsequent terms of three years each till he attains the age of seventy years, if he has contributed significantly to raise the academic and research standards of the university.”.
