Stepping out and passing through the pillared porticoes was a Who's Who of Swiss society-the head of state, national sports icons, former ministers and army generals-all of whom had come to celebrate the sixty-fifth birthday of Werner Spross, the owner of a huge horticultural business empire. As one of Zurich's wealthiest and best-connected men, it was perhaps fitting that 650 of his "close friends" had been invited to attend the event, a lavish banquet followed by a performance of Romeo and Juliet. Defiantly greeting the guests were 200 demonstrators standing in the square in front of the opera house. Mostly young, wearing scruffy clothes and sporting punky haircuts, they whistled and booed, angry that the opera house had been sold out, allowing itself for the first time to be taken over by a rich patron. They were also chanting slogans about the inequity of Swiss society and the wealth of Spross's guests. The glittering horde did its very best to ignore the disturbance. The protest had the added significance of being held on the tenth anniversary of the first spark of the city's most explosive youth revolt of recent years, The Movement. -

All reasonable and lawful means must be used to ensure that the United States will receive the best intelligence possible. For that purpose, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the National Security Act of 1947, as amended, (Act) and as President of the United States of America, in order to provide for the effective conduct of United States intelligence activities and the protection of constitutional rights, it is hereby ordered as follows: PART 1 Goals, Directions, Duties, and Responsibilities with Respect to United States Intelligence Efforts 1.1 Goals. The United States intelligence effort shall provide the President, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council with the necessary information on which to base decisions concerning the development and conduct of foreign, defense, and economic policies, and the protection of United States national interests from foreign security threats. All departments and agencies shall cooperate fully to fulfill this goal. (a} All means, consistent with applicable Federal law and this order, and with full consideration of the rights of United States persons, shall be used to obtain reliable intelligence information to protect the United States and its interests. -

Het eerste gedeelte van deze brochure bevat de Technische Voorschriften inzake Binneninstallaties (ook private installaties genoemd), die op het openbaar waterleidingnet aangesloten zijn. Ze volgen de principes van de norm NBN EN 1717 “Bescherming tegen verontreiniging van drinkwater in waterinstallaties en algemene eisen voor inrichtingen ter voorkoming van verontreiniging door terugstroming” en van de daarin opgesomde productnormen (1). Vanaf begin 2004 werden deze Technische Voorschriften volledig opgenomen in het reglementair kader van toepassing in het Vlaamse Gewest (www.aqua"anders.be). Systematische controles van de nieuwe installaties werden ingevoerd zodat enkel de goedgekeurde installaties aan het net gekoppeld mogen worden. Gelijkaardige maatregelen zijn ook, volgens speci!eke modaliteiten, van toepassing in de andere Gewesten. Het Reglement (blz. 18) als dusdanig wordt voorafgegaan door een rijkelijk geïllustreerde educatieve voordracht over de Technische Voorschriften. Deze vervangt geenzins het reglementaire gedeelte. De afgevaardigden van de waterleidingbedrijven en de experten van Belgaqua zijn steeds beschikbaar om de essentiële regels toe te lichten. De werkbladen voor installaties en toestellen voor niet-huishoudelijk gebruik (Deel III) zijn reeds voor een groot deel herwerkt volgens de principes van de NBN EN 1717. Het secretariaat en onze experten zullen u graag adviseren. -

The Commission made a number of recommendations, one of which was to replace the current position of Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) with a National Intelligence Director (NID) who would oversee national intelligence centers on specific subjects of interest — including a National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) — across the U.S. government, manage the national intelligence program; oversee the agencies that contribute to it; and have hiring, firing, and budgetary authority over the IC’s 15 agencies. Although the Commission recommended that the director be located in the Executive Office of the President, the Commission Vice Chairman in testimony before Congress on September 7, 2004, withdrew that portion of the recommendation in light of concerns that the NID would be subject to undue influence. -

JOINT INDUSTRY COMMENTS on WEEE2 Draft Implementing Regulation establishing a Common Methodology for the Calculation of “the weight of EEE placed on the national market in each Member State” and a Common Methodology for the Calculation of the “Quantity of WEEE Generated by Weight in each Member State” Brussels, 7 February 2017 In view of the upcoming vote on 13th February 2017 of the members of the Technical Adaptation Committee, we would like to provide the following observations on the latest draft Commission Implementing Regulation establishing a common methodology for the calculation of “the weight of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) placed on the national market in each Member State” and a common methodology for the calculation of “the quantity of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generated by weight in each Member State”: • We thank the Commission for its efforts to establish common methodologies both for the calculation EEE POM and WEEE generated collection targets. On the one hand, these methodologies are crucial to ensure a clear and harmonised implementation of the collection target in each Member State. On the other hand, it is essential that the methodologies lead to fair targets, which are based on objective, clear and transparent criteria. Member States are of course free to choose, which of the two approaches they use to demonstrate the achievement of the collection rate from 2019 onwards. • We fully support the following changes made by the Commission compared to the 2015 draft version: o Calculation of the weight of EEE placed on the market of a Member State (POM) – Article 3 of the Draft Implementing Regulation: it is now clear that the first source of information is the information provided by the producers. -
