BARRY MANILOW SCHOLARSHIP AWARD (awarded for 2021 - 2022)

Barry Manilow Scholarship Award The School of Music and Dance will present the ​ ​(approximately $1000) to an outstanding performer who will be a full-time student during both the Fall and Winter semesters in which they will hold the award. Applicants ​must be admitted​ to an undergraduate degree program in the School of Music and Dance or CTA. Previous winners and students on Conditional Admission, Alternative Admission or Special Student status are ineligible to apply.​ ​This award may be received in addition to other major university or department scholarships.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria: 1. Performance Competency and Presentation. 2. Grade Point Average (minimum of 3.0) 3. Leadership within the School of Music and Dance or CTA 4. Initiative

Competition Friday, March 19, 2021 (Fully remote/virtual) Performance videos are limited to ten (10) minutes. ​Please note ​that each video submission may consist of only one performer designated as the entrant, and may be performed only once.

Procedure Application and link to your video performance must be submitted by email to Prof. Sandra Jackson (​[email protected]​). The deadline is ​Friday, March 12, 2021 by 12:00 noon (Eastern Standard Time). ​Please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Please upload your Manilow competition video to YouTube (you must have a YouTube account in order to do this) and set the video as 'Unlisted', then send the link to Prof. Sandra Jackson (​[email protected]​). Performances may not be edited or manipulated in any way. 2. Due to the pandemic, you may submit a video with or without piano accompaniment, or a solo piece of your choice. No penalty will be assessed if you perform a selection by yourself that normally requires accompaniment. 3. Submissions will be adjudicated, and the Barry Manilow Scholarship award winner will be notified on Monday, March 22, 2021.

For full consideration, application must contain ​complete​ program information, including full name of composer, composer’s dates, full title of composition including key and/or opus number as appropriate, name of movement(s), name of accompanist if applicable, and accurate timing.

Performance auditions will be heard by representative judges from the School of Music and Dance and CTA faculty. Scholarship recipient recommendations will be forwarded to Barry Manilow for the final award decision. Results of the selection process will be announced immediately after the competition.
