ZAMFARA STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD, GUSAU. PART A: REPORTS ON THE CONDITION OF ICT CENTERS. 1.0 INTRODUCTION: In an effort to promote computer literacy in school, Zamfara state universal basic education board established 41 school based ICT centers. The centers are equipped with 20 sets of computers, which includes the Monitors, CPU, Keyboards, Mouse, Printer and a generating set. In addition, the federal Government, under the UBEC established 7 Almajiri schools and equipped with 2 each with sets of computers. 2.0 OBJECTIVES: To assess the condition of the center facilities To track the functionality of the center operators To assess the literacy benefits of the centers To achieve the objective, the executive chairman set 21 members committee to track the condition, functionality and effectiveness of the centers and its operators. The committee has the following Term of Reference. Determine the names and ID numbers of the present ICT instructors in each center Determine if the facilities in the center is being use by the teachers and the pupils Determine who finance the fueling of generator at the ICT center Assess the conduct of the teaching and learning process at the Almajiri schools. Assess the attendance of non-Arabic/ Islamic teachers at the Almajiri schools Assess the condition of facilities at the centers. 1 The teams are distributed as below: S/ LGEAs CENTERs MEMBERS N 1 Gusau a. ICT center JNI p.s, Bukkuyyum 3.0 RESULT AND ANALYSIS: Analysis of various committee reports focused on the following areas: Functionality of the computer operators appointed and posted to various centers Condition of computers and accessories Beneficiaries of the centers Pattern of inspection of the centers Comments and observations for each center: 3.1 ANALYSIS 3.1a Functionality of the computer operators appointed and posted to various centers: Analysis of the various centers reveals that 67 appointed computer operators reported to their station during the inception of the programme. However, the 68th operator who was posted to Gura – guri primary school in Shinkafi did not for once report at the station. Currently, 61 Computer operators are on station. The 41 ICT centers (excluding Ibrahim Gusau PS) were equipped with computers and accessories and each of the centers were supplied with 20 monitors, 20 CPU, 20 keyboards, 20 mouse, 1 printer and 1 generating set. Total OF 820 computers were distributed across the centers of which 790 are in good condition while 29 need to repairs a 30 missing. TABLE 4: Centers with missing computers. Ibrahim Gusau is now shut down as all the remaining computers are now stored at the LGEA store. Banaga Sule incidence took place in July. 2016.
