A publication to this extent has not been done before and we are thrilled for you to peruse through the pages of this directory to find all the reasons to call Kilgore, Texas your place to Live, Learn, Work & Play. We have and we know you will want to as well. The Kilgore Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit business organization with nearly 300 members. We are very proud to be in our 88th year as the leading business organization in Kilgore, Texas. The purpose of the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is to cultivate a strong business and industrial environment in Kilgore, create a vibrant place to live, learn, work and play. In 2018, we took some time to sit down and think about what we, as a chamber of commerce and visitor’s bureau, should be doing for the Kilgore, Texas area and our membership. We developed a three (3) year strategic plan that includes making certain our resources align with our purpose; increase membership and improve retention with quality benefits and services; reduce unoccupied business space in Kilgore, and to facilitate partnerships between business, industry, education, and government. As a community, Kilgore, Texas understands that working together is how to get things done. We pride ourselves on a very committed and involved leadership including the Chamber of Commerce, City of Kilgore, Kilgore Economic Development Corporation, Kilgore Independent School District, and Kilgore College. Along with a great group of civic organizations and other nonprofits, Kilgore continues to grow and develop into an integral part of East Texas. In sharp contrast to the thriving boomtown of the 1930’s, Kilgore today is a city that blends its rich oil heritage with a technologically advanced business community that provides residents with an incomparable quality of life. In addition to its nearly 15,000 residents. Kilgore also draws from Gregg and Rusk counties with a combined population of nearly 160,000. The people who live here see Kilgore as a friendly small town that has many characteristics of a larger community. A high tech industrial base, an outstanding public school system and community college, abundant recreational opportunities and extraordinary cultural events make Kilgore a unique small city. We serve as a resource for current residents and individuals looking to relocate here. The Kilgore Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau fields inquiries from all over the county, state and country and answers questions about city services, schools, government, recreation, business and industry, as well as tourism. The Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed Rule Making in this proceeding adopted October 19, 1983, 48 FR 50571; November 2, 1983, and the comments and reply comments filed in response to the Notice. In order to place the Notice proposal to increase the nighttime power of Class IV AN stations in context, some background information is necessary. By Report and Order, FCC 58-573, Power Limitations of Class IV Stations, 17 RR 1541 (1958), released June 2, 1958, the Commission increased the maximum permissible daytime power for Class IV AM broadcast stations from 250 watts to 1 kilowatt. This action was taken in response to a petition for rule making filed April 3, 1956 by Community Broadcasters Association, Inc. ("CBA"), an organization representing Class IV AN stations. The across-the-board approach to the power increase was chosen to improve reception of these stations while maintaining their existing coverage areas. CBA also had petitioned for a power increase at night as well, but this could not then be pursued because of international treaty constraints. Recent international developments have suggested that these international restrictions against increasing nighttime power will likely be removed at an early date.
