Magical and heartfelt, Domestic Animals wakes our primal instincts and dares us to find our true pack. Directed and produced by Linda Lombardi (Perfect Arrangement, The White Devil), Domestic Animals runs July 11-25, 2015, as part of the Capital Fringe Festival, in the Upstairs—Logan Fringe Arts Space. The cast of Domestic Animals includes Christine Callsen (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Taming of the Shrew), Jeremy Hunter (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Elephant’s Graveyard), and Andrew Keller (Glassheart, The Taming of the Shrew). The creative team for Domestic Animals also includes scenic design by Christopher Annas-Lee, costume design by Candice Newton, lighting design by Mary Keegan, sound design by Jess Hoover, and stage manager Amanda Schultz. — continued — On Domestic Animals: “The loss of a loved one is something we all share in common. When the reason for that loss is war, the feelings of hopelessness and futility are all the more powerful. At the time of the Vietnam War, the emotions and trauma being dealt with by our soldiers’ families was not given the attention it deserved. Domestic Animals draws the curtain back and allows us a look into one woman’s struggle to survive on the homefront.” –Director Linda Lombardi “Domestic Animals was inspired by my early childhood in Alaska. For me, Alaska has always been a magical place—a place where it’s light all summer, where moose wander through the yard, where the sky in winter can move and change colors. I wanted to communicate an awareness of a space so immense in scale it can hold multiple realities, the big life questions, the power of nature and a hero’s journey.” –Playwright Jennifer Faletto Jennifer Faletto (Playwright) Plays include Bathroom Hate, Domestic Animals, and Reindeer Cupcakes. Jennifer’s works have been developed at the Great Plains Theatre Conference, Crash Test Drama and produced at the Short + Sweet Festival in Sydney, Australia. Jennifer holds a BFA in theatre performance from TCU and also trained at The Second City Conservatory in Chicago where she began writing and performing sketch comedy. Writing credits at Second City include Sexy/Awkward… and Glass of Pie. Jennifer also attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, Australia, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Linda Lombardi (Director/Producer) is a director/dramaturg whose work includes Henry IV, Part I; Henry IV, Part II; Henry V; a new adaptation of Sophocles’ Ajax; The White Devil; Blackened Windows and, in 2013, she directed Osborn New Play Award winner, Perfect Arrangement, in DC’s Source Festival, which became the first play in Festival history to extend. Recently, Andrew made his DC directorial debut with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at St. Mark’s Players. Andrew holds a Master's degree in Acting from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. As I reflect on my first term at Abbot Beyne School I think all of the things that have been different this year, however ultimately the focus on learning and teaching and student achievement remains the same. I want to thank you for your continued support of the school. It has been a challenging year for everybody and I thank you for your understanding and patience. Compared to local and national secondary school figures we do appear to have had fewer Covid-19 cases but I still recognise the impact of asking students to self-isolate and remote learning has on families. As you are aware we have closed a day early for the Christmas holidays to further minimise contact between students to try to ensure everybody can enjoy the break. I have had a number of telephone calls with parents this term to try and receive some feedback about the school. Overwhelmingly this feedback has been positive. In particular parents have been impressed with the level of communication. To further enhance this we will be developing next term a parent and student app to keep you up to date with your child’s education and progress at the school. Please keep an eye on your emails for further details. To support learning and teaching at the school we are going to make a slight change to our behaviour policy. All students should bring their iPads to school, fully charged.

GROOTJEN Abstract In the field of Music Information Retrieval, studies on Hit Song Science are becoming more and more popular. The concept of predicting whether a song has the potential to become a hit song is an interesting challenge. This paper describes my research on how hit song predictors can be utilized to predict hit songs. Three subject groups of predictors were gathered from the Last.fm service, based on a selection of past hit songs from the record charts. By gathering new data from these predictors and using a term frequency-inversed document frequency algorithm on their listened tracks, I was able to determine which songs had the potential to become a hit song. The results showed that the predictors have a better sense on listening to potential hit songs in comparison to their corresponding control groups.     Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
