Complete International Survivor Seasons
Complete International Survivor Seasons Anthony Bonato, Nicole Eikmeier, Rehan Malik In this document, we compile collected data for the international seasons of Survivor for which voting information is available online. Players are listed in order, with the winners at the top, and the player who was eliminated first at the bottom. A note about the labeling of the seasons. The naming of the seasons is highly inconsistent, but follows the convention from the Wiki pages, from https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Page. There are between 11 and 27 players in any given game. We excluded several International seasons of Survivor, we list them here with the reason they were excluded: 1. The page exists, but there is no voting data: Expeditie Robinson 2010-2014, 2017; Expedition Robinson 1998, 2003-2005, VIP; Extreme Azerbaijan; Into the Shangri-La; Koh Lanta: La Guerre des Chefs; Expedition Robinson VIP; Robinson Ekspeditionen 2009, 2015, 2016, 2018; Robinsonekspedisjonen 2008, 2015; Suvivor Slovenija: Filipini 2. The rules are significantly different (in particular when few contestants remain): Las Isla: El Reality 2012-2017 3. There is voting information, but too much of the voting information is unknown: La Selva de los FamoS.O.S. The International Extent and Elasticity of Lifestyle Television
Pia Majbritt Jensen MEDIEKULTUR 45 journal of media and communication research The International Extent and Elasticity of Lifestyle Television By Pia Majbritt Jensen Lifestyle is a TV genre that exists predominantly on the screens of Northern Europe and Anglophone countries such as the UK, the USA and Australia. Hence, lifestyle formats are not traded globally but rather trans-nationally within a distinct geo-linguistic region. Nonetheless, lifestyle programming is still produced very differently within this region according to the media systemic conditions of the specific national TV markets and the specific broadcasters and channels in question. As such, the lifestyle genre is indeed tremendously flexible and elastic and can be used in a diverse number of ways, catering for local broadcasters’ image and target groups, local markets’ competitive conditions, media regulations, and history. This article investigates the international extent of the genre and looks into possible explanations for its Anglophone and Northern European bias. Subsequently, the great elasticity of the genre is examined by way of a thorough analysis of the Australian and Danish versions of the program format The Block, which will demonstrate precisely how the genre can be adapted radically differently to suit two diverse broadcasters and their diverse conditions. Introduction This article takes a production perspective on lifestyle programming, a relatively new genre within television entertainment. The lifestyle genre has its historical roots in factual programming genres of the didactic sort but its contemporary, entertainment- skewed version is generally thought to have originated in the 1990s in the UK, from where it has spread internationally, predominantly to the Anglophone and Northern European countries. -
