Complete International Survivor Seasons Complete International Survivor Seasons Anthony Bonato, Nicole Eikmeier, Rehan Malik In this document, we compile collected data for the international seasons of Survivor for which voting information is available online. Players are listed in order, with the winners at the top, and the player who was eliminated first at the bottom. A note about the labeling of the seasons. The naming of the seasons is highly inconsistent, but follows the convention from the Wiki pages, from https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Page. There are between 11 and 27 players in any given game. We excluded several International seasons of Survivor, we list them here with the reason they were excluded: 1. The page exists, but there is no voting data: Expeditie Robinson 2010-2014, 2017; Expedition Robinson 1998, 2003-2005, VIP; Extreme Azerbaijan; Into the Shangri-La; Koh Lanta: La Guerre des Chefs; Expedition Robinson VIP; Robinson Ekspeditionen 2009, 2015, 2016, 2018; Robinsonekspedisjonen 2008, 2015; Suvivor Slovenija: Filipini 2. The rules are significantly different (in particular when few contestants remain): Las Isla: El Reality 2012-2017 3. There is voting information, but too much of the voting information is unknown: La Selva de los FamoS.O.S. Centrality in dynamic competition networks Anthony Bonato1, Nicole Eikmeier2, David F. Gleich3, and Rehan Malik1 1 Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada 2 Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA, USA 3 Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA Abstract. Competition networks are formed via adversarial interactions between actors. The Dynamic Competition Hypothesis predicts that influential actors in competition networks should have a large number of common out-neighbors with many other nodes. We empirically study this idea as a centrality score and find the measure predictive of importance in several real-world networks including food webs, conflict networks, and voting data from Survivor. 1 Introduction While social networks are often studied from the perspective of positive interactions such as friend- ship or followers, the impact of negative social interaction on their structure and evolution cannot be ignored. Structural balance theory posits positive and negative ties between actors in social networks, and assumes such signed networks will stabilize so that triples of actors are either all mutually friends or possess common adversaries; see [12], and [9] for a modern treatment. The pre- diction of the signs of edges in a social network was previously studied [15,18,21]. Further, negative interactions as a model for edges was studied in the context of negatively correlated stocks in mar- ket graphs [4], and in the spatial location of cities as a model to predict the rise of conflicts and violence [11]. Even in the highly cited Zachary Karate club network [22], the negative interaction between the administrator and instructor was the impetus for the split of the club participants into two communities.

  • Islands in the Screen: the Robinsonnade As Television Genre Des Îles À L’Écran : La Robinsonnade Comme Genre Télévisuel Paul Heyer
Document generated on 09/24/2021 6:24 p.m. Cinémas Revue d'études cinématographiques Journal of Film Studies Islands in the Screen: The Robinsonnade as Television Genre Des îles à l’écran : la robinsonnade comme genre télévisuel Paul Heyer Fictions télévisuelles : approches esthétiques Article abstract Volume 23, Number 2-3, Spring 2013 The island survivor narrative, or robinsonnade, has emerged as a small but significant television genre over the past 50 years. The author considers its URI: https://id.erudit.org/iderudit/1015187ar origins as a literary genre and the screen adaptations that followed. Emphasis DOI: https://doi.org/10.7202/1015187ar is placed on how “island TV” employed a television aesthetic that ranged from an earlier conventional approach, using three cameras, studio locations, and See table of contents narrative resolution in each episode, to open-ended storylines employing a cinematic style that exploits the new generation of widescreen televisions, especially with the advent of HDTV. Two case studies centre the argument: Gilligan’s Island as an example of the former, more conventional aesthetic, and Publisher(s) Lost as an example of the new approach. Although both series became Cinémas exceedingly popular, other notable programs are considered, two of which involved Canadian production teams: Swiss Family Robinson and The Mysterious Island. Finally, connections are drawn between robinsonnades and ISSN the emerging post-apocalyptic genre as it has moved from cinema to television. 1181-6945 (print) 1705-6500 (digital) Explore this journal Cite this article Heyer, P. Marek Hlavica, Ph.D. Anotácia Reality šou je televízny žáner obsahujúci množstvo rozličných formátov. Viaceré z nich vzbudili záujem po celom svete a prostredníctvom licencií boli predané do rozličných krajín. Hoci bolo nevyhnutné dodržiavať základné rysy formátu, každá jedna národná adaptácia sa v niečom musela prispôsobiť publiku, prípadne dala programu iný ráz. Táto diplomová práca sa zaoberá slovenskými verziami vybraných zahraničných formátov. Konkrétne ide o Farmár hľadá ženu, Mama, ožeň ma, Návštevníkov a Ostrov. Annotation Reality show is a television genre which includes various broadcasts. Many of them excited worldwide interest and were sold to diverse countries. Even thought it’s inevitable to respect the basic format, every country had to adapt to their own spectators or modified the character of a TV show in some way. This thesis deals with the slovakian versions of selected foreign reality show formats. Concretely it refers to Farmer Wants a Wife, Who Wants to Marry My Son, Anno (The Visitors in slovak) and Survivor (The Island in slovak).
