And some even more famous genre directors are set to appear in front of the cameras, with cameos expected from the likes of Joe Dante, Stuart Gordon, and John Landis. No word yet on an Australian release but it’s not likely to remain on the shelf for long. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Dante makes his long-awaited Neil Marshall (The Descent ) directorial return this month on the zombie comedy Burying The Ex, which is reviewed on page 24.

NEW ALLEGIANCES

Filming has begun on Allegiant – Part 1 the latest installment in the Young Adult blockbuster saga Divergent, which is due for cinema release next March. Shailene Woodley once again plays Tris, who together with Four (Theo James), ventures beyond the Wall that encircles Chicago to fi nally discover the shocking truth of what lies behind it. Also back for Allegiant – Part 1 are Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Octavia Spencer and Naomi Watts, while new additions to the cast include Jeff Daniels and Bill Skarsgård; Robert Schwentke, who helmed Insurgent, is also back in the director’s chair. As is the norm these days with YA series, Veronica Roth’s fi nal novel in her bestselling trilogy has been divided into two fi lms, with Part 2 due in 2017. SchoolboyAGAIN superhero series Ben 10 is getting a makeover, with a brand new animated version of the Cartoon Network smash due for release next year. The new show will be produced by John Fang (Mixels, Generator Rex) and will once again centre on the adventures of 10-year-old Ben Tennyson, who gains access to a whole new alien world when he ﬁ nds a mysterious device The Omnitrix. The new Ben 10 will also feature his regular sidekicks, cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max, and the kids TV giant is also promising both new and fan-favourite aliens. The original Ben 10 premiered on the Cartoon Network in 2006 and went on to spawn three animated spin-offs: Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien and Ben 10: Omniverse.
