Meanwhile introducing Sistan and Baluchestan Province and Zahak County, the author explores the Baluchi poems. In this study, happiness poems like Lailu, Nazinak, Mobarak, Halou, Lajou, Sepat and congratulations that are recited in such ceremonies as child birth, wedding, circumcision, nomination for marriage and so forth by women and men along with playing of various musical instruments like Sorud (a Baluchestan-specific stringed instrument), psaltery, small tambour, Sorna (a kind of aboe), Nal (reed flute), Benjo, drum, tonbak and so forth will be investigated; moreover, sorrow poems like Liko, Mutak and Luli that are recited by men and women sometimes accompanied by the playing of musical instruments will be also analyzed. Since one of the biggest cultural and literary harms of every ethnicity and tribe is the destruction of their local dialects, the present study can somewhat achieve the important goal of preserving this cultural heritage to be handed over to the future generations so that they might not get separated from their ancestral culture and customs and carry it along in the course of time. In 2013, a few numbers of Aedes albopictus were detected in three sampling sites of this region. This field study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of various traps on monitoring mosquitoes and status of this dengue vector, in five urban and 15 suburban/rural areas. -

AN ABSTRPCT OF THE THESIS OF Neil Brant Anuantzout for the degree of Dcctor of Philosophy in Fisheries presented on 2 Title: The Freshwater Fishes of Iran Redacted for Privacy hs tract approved: Dr. Carl E. Bond The freshwater fish fauna of Iran is representedby 3 classes, 1 orders, 31 familIes, 90 genera, 269species and 58 subspecIes. This includes 8 orders, 10 families, 14 generaand 33 species with marine representatives that live at least partof the tixne in freshwater. Also included are one family, 7 genera,9 species and 4 subspecies introduced into Iran. Overhalf the species and nearly half the genera are in the family Cypririidae; over75% of the genera and species are in the orderCypriniformes. The fish fauna may be separated into threemajor groups. The largest and nst diverse is the Sannatian Fauna,which includes the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Lake Bezaiyeh, Rhorasan,Isfahan, Dashte-Kavir, and the four subbasins of the Namak LakeBasins. Of the fish found in Iran, 14 of 31 earnilies, 48 of 90 genera,127 of 269 species and 46 of 58 subspecies are found in theSarmatian Fauna. Endemisa is low, and nstly expressed at the subspecific level.The fauna contains marine relicts from the Sannatian Sea and recentinmigrants with strong relationships to the fishes of Europe, the Black Seaand northern Asia. The marine relicts are absent outside the Caspian Sea Basin, where the fauna is best described as a depauperate extensionof the Caspian and Aral Sea faunas. The second major fauna is the Nesopotamian Fauna,and includes the Tigris and Euphrates river Basins, the Karun1iver Basin, and the Kol, nd, Maliarlu, Neyriz and Lar Basins. -

[email protected] Abstract: Understanding the concept of sustainable development and the value of natural, historical, and cultural heritage has been raised in the issue of tourism in most countries. Tourism is primarily considered the activities in leisure time, in which the tourist desirably spends his/her purchasing power from the source to the destination. In other words, tourism, from an economic perspective, is a kind of purchasing power transfer from the source to the destination. On the other hand, from a social and cultural view, tourism is an effective factor in cultural exchange and consolidation of human bonds that encourages the national coherence in various regions of a country through domestic tourism and international bonds by foreign tourists. Iran, due to its privileged geographical position which is situated at the intersection of economic and cultural exchanges between the East and the West of the world and given its rich civilization and cultural legacies (Iran is among the top ten countries in the world in this regard), can improve and consolidate its position in tourism industry. Sistan and Baluchestan Province is located in the extreme southeast of Iran and is the entrance and exit gate of Iran to the Indian subcontinent, South-East Asia, and the southern coasts of the Oman Sea (both through land and sea). -

Abstract Background: Hypothyroidism (HT) and hypoparathyroidism (HPT) are common endocrine complications in thalassemia major (TM) patients. Objectives: In the present study, we assessed the frequency of HT and HPT in a population of TM patients in Southeast of Iran. Methods: This cross sectional study was performed on 194 TM patients in Zabol, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran, during Febru- ary - July 2016. The demographic, clinical, and laboratory data were collected via interviews and history - taking. For hormone mea- surements, specific ELISA kits were used. Statistical analysis was performed in SPSS version 16. Results: A total of 103 (53.1%) and 91 (46.9%) females and males were recruited in this study, respectively. The mean age of the patients was 15 ± 7.5 years.
