Consequently in order to determine the long-term run-off from each of the catchments at the possible discharge points, an average annual rainfall of 1336mm is assumed. This is the average rainfall on the Feale catchment, which is the closest catchment to the River Tyshe with recorded data. The catchment lies in Hydrometric Area 23 in which the estimated annual losses due to evapo-transpiration are 490mm. Thus, the average annual run-off is 1336 – 490 = 846mm/annum, which is equivalent to an average daily flow (ADF) (846 x 1.0 x 106) (1000 x 365.25) = 2,316 m3/d/km2 (0.027 l/s/km2) of catchment area. In the absence of recorded river dry weather and 95 percentile flow data, it is necessary to attempt to calculate what the flows might be for the River Tyshe using the estimated average daily flow.

That is an extraordinary fact in itself and there is evidently no cure in sight, so babies will continue to die from this one singular disease around the world and little can be done about it. Millions of other babies died in various wars, in the Workhouses of Europe from different diseases, from starvation, and neglect. We could be asking lots of historical questions about these events, but the main one would be is why, why do we allow children to die. However, it is only when one tries to discover what life was like for the musicians who chose to live in the country that one realises how little research has been compiled and written on the subject. Therefore, the intention of this thesis was to examine the musical activity in Cork from 1750-1800, in order to establish a relatively accurate description of what life was really like for the musicians and members of the nobility living in Cork during that time. The primary source of information in the thesis is from the various Cork and Dublin newspapers. These include the earliest existing Cork newspaper, the Corke Journal, which dates from December 1753, The Cork Evening Post from 1758 and The New Cork Evening Post from 1791.
