One of the important features of Sikkim is that excepting the temples, churches, mosques, etc. there are about 67 monasteries - some of them have old historical importance. In addition. there are 132 Manilhakhang (place of worship for ladies and some of them are run by ladies) and 22 Lhakhang & Tsamkhang (hermitage or place of meditation) in the state. C .23 FOREWORD This publi.cation entitled as 'Paper 1 of 1982 Final Population Totals' presents 1981 census final popula tion as well as scheduled castes and scheduled tribes population as at the sunrise of 1st March 1981 for Sikkim and its districts by rural and urban breakup. The final population figures of towns are also given. Besides, final population at the level of revenue block (coterminous with revenue village) is also pre sented in Annexure A. Annexure B gives wardwise population of Gangtok Municipal Corporation._ This paper is the third publication in the series. The first and second entitled "Paper 1 of 1981-Provisronal Population Totals" and its "Supplement" were releas ed in April 1981 and August 1981 respectively. RURAL MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT GOVERNMENT OF SIKKIM GANGTOK, SIKKIM. No. 03/RM&DD/P. Dated: 23/06 2017 NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Sikkim Panchayat Act, 1993 (6 of 1993) and in supersession of the Notification No. 40/RM&DD/P dated 28.02.2012, the State Government is pleased to declare that :- 1. (a) Each Gram Panchayat shall be known by the unit number and name specified in column No. (1) of Schedule ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ & ‘D’ to this notification; (b) the serial number and name of wards within such Gram Panchayat given in column (1) of Schedule ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ & ‘D’ following the number and name of the Gram Panchayat and the name of Revenue Block from which ward or wards have been carved out shall constitute a ward or wards for the purpose of this Act; (c) those Sangha Voters who normally do not reside in their Gumpas/Wards to which their Gumpas are attached and are residing in rural areas shall form a part of the electorate of the wards where they normally reside; (d) all electors of Forest Blocks in the State shall be deemed to be part of the Gram Panchayat Ward in which their names are appearing as per numbers/polling areas specified in the electoral rolls for the panchayats; (e) each ward shall elect one member each for the concerned Gram Panchayat; (f) the Local limits and jurisdiction of each Gram Panchayat as mentioned in column No (1) of each Schedule shall be as specified in column No. -
Introduction
1 Introduction This Hand Book in Agriculture with reference to Sikkim 2014-15 provides wide range of data on demographic set up and certain aspects of Agriculture in Sikkim regarding data on Crop Area, Production & Productivity of Agriculture & Horticulture across the State. The book also highlights the progress report on Sikkim Organic Mission and details of Block Administrative Centers along with the no. of Gram Panchayat Units under their Jurisdiction in Sikkim. The idea behind publishing of this book is to highlight the activities of the Department for the benefit of the field functionaries. It may also prove helpful for other Departments & Students enrolling in the field of Agriculture. This book also can be of certain help to the planners of the Department for future reference.
