    1 5/2/18 V1 47th Annual NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA EMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED The 47th Annual Northern California Area EMMY® Award Nominations were announced Wednesday, May 2rd on the chapter’s website. The EMMY® award is presented for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). San Francisco/ Northern California is one of the nineteen chapters awarding regional Emmy® statuettes. Northern California is composed of media companies and individuals from Visalia to the Oregon border and includes Hawaii and Reno, Nevada. Entries aired during the 2017 calendar year. This year 784 English entries were received in 62 categories and 218 entries in the Spanish contest in 42 categories. English and Spanish language entries were judged and scored separately. A minimum of seven peer judges from other NATAS chapters scored each entry on a scale from 1 to 10 on Content, Creativity and Execution. (Craft categories were judged on Creativity and Execution only). The total score was divided by the number of judges. The mean score was sorted from highest to lowest in each category. The Chapter Awards Committee looked at blind scores (not knowing the category) and decided on the cut off number for nominations and recipients. In the English contest KNTV NBC Bay Area received 27 nominations. The Spanish contest KUVS Univision 19 received 28. Individual honors went to Luis Godínez, Assistant News Director, KDTV Univision 14, San Francisco received ten nominations. KDTV’s Joseph Perry, Photographer/Editor and KUVS Univisioin 19 Sandra Cervantes, Anchor/Reporter and Eduardo Mancera Mancera each received nine.

    CHAPTER 1 Introduction This Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) has been prepared pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the State CEQA Guidelines to analyze potential physical environmental impacts of the proposed Oakland Waterfront Ballpark District Project (referred to in this EIR as “Project”).1 A brief overview of the Project and the environmental review process, and a description of the purpose of this Draft EIR and opportunities for public comment, are provided below, along with an explanation of how this Draft EIR is organized. 1.1 Project Overview The Oakland Athletics Investment Group, LLC (referred to in this EIR as “Oakland A’s” or “Project sponsor”) is proposing to acquire the rights to develop a site known as the Charles P. Howard Terminal (Howard Terminal) on the Oakland waterfront from the Port of Oakland (Port); acquire the rights to adjacent properties from private owners; and construct a new Major League Baseball (MLB) ballpark, as well as residential, entertainment, office, hotel, and retail (mixed- use) development, creating a new Oakland Waterfront Ballpark District. The proposed Project would be constructed in phases as described below and consistent with the site plan and street grid provided in Chapter 3, Project Description, of this Draft EIR. The Project site proposed for development of the new ballpark district includes the Howard Terminal and certain adjacent properties totaling approximately 55 acres. The Project site is located on the Oakland waterfront, north of and across the Oakland-Alameda Estuary from the City of Alameda.     MISCELLANEOUS Phoenix Municipal Stadium, the A’s Spring Training home OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM FRONT OFFICE 2009 ATHLETICS REVIEW The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum plays host to concerts, conventions and other large gatherings in addi- tion to serving as the home for the Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders. The A’s have used the facility to its advantage over the years, posting the second best home record (492-318, .607) in the Major Leagues over the last 10 seasons. In 2003, the A’s set an Oakland record for home wins as they finished with a 57-24 (.704) record in the Coliseum, marking the most home wins in franchise history since 1931 RECORDS when the Philadelphia Athletics went 60-15 at home. In addition, two of the A’s World Championships have been clinched on the Coliseum’s turf. The Coliseum’s exceptional sight lines, fine weather and sizable staging areas have all contributed to its popularity among performers, promoters and the Bay Area public. The facility is conveniently located adjacent to I-880 with two exits (Hegenberger Road/66th Avenue) leading directly to the complex. Along with the Oracle Arena, which is located adjacently, it is the only major entertainment facility with a dedicated stop on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. The Oakland International Airport is less than a two-mile drive from the Coliseum with shuttle service to several local hotels and restaurants. In October of 1995, the Coliseum HISTORY began a one-year, $120 renovation proj- ect that added 22,000 new seats, 90 luxury suites, two private clubs and two OAKLAND-ALAMEDA COUNTY COLISEUM state-of-the-art scoreboards.
