This month will have a special presentation of Nuasicaa of the Valley of the Wind. This is Academy Award winner Hayao Miyazaki’s second film but the first that was entirely his own creation. This is part of Fathom Events special presentation of Miyazaki’s films this year. This is set in the far during a biological apocalypse. While people are trying restore civilization, war may set back the recovery. A young princess Nausicaa explores this world and tries to stop a disaster. This has all the themes important to Miyazaki. There is a powerful heroine, a love of flight, and environmental concerns. This is also the animation debut of Hideaki Anno. Anno animated one of the film’s final action sequences. Anno would go on to create and direct the landmark anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion. This is the first major theater release of the film in over years. In 1985 a highly edited version of the film was released as Warriors of the Wind. Miyazaki was so angered by the is cut, he demanded a no edit clause for all of his films. The film will be in selected theaters on September 24 (dubbed) and September 25 (subtitled). It will be playing at Regal Theaters in the Central Florida area.
