In 1980 he finished the Yerevan A. Chekhov School #55. In 1985 he graduated from the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics of Yerevan State University. In 1985 he worked in the Research Institute of Economics and Planning adjunct to the State Plan of ASSR as an economist. In 1985-1986 he served in the Armed forces of the USSR. From 1987-1991 he worked in the Research Institute of economics and planning adjunct to the State Plan of ASSR as an associate researcher, then as head of research group. In 1991 he worked in the RA Ministry of External Economic Relations as a senior specialist, then as assistant of the Minister. In 1991 he attended a course of banking in UBS Bank of Geneva. In 1992-1994 he worked in the division of Bilateral Economic Relations of RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a second secretary. In 1993 he was granted a diplomatic title of second secretary. In 1993 he attended a diplomatic course in the University of Leeds of Great Britain. In 1994-1996 he worked in the Armenian Embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium as a second secretary. In 1996-1998 he worked in the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs as head of the division of International Economic Organizations. In 1996 he was granted a diplomatic title of first secretary. In 1998-2001 he worked in the mission of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union as a councilor, then as an envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary minister. In 2001 he was granted a diplomatic title of councilor. In 2002-2007 he worked in the staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia as Head of the department of External Relations. In 2003 he was granted a diplomatic title of envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary minister. On May 31, 2007 he was granted a diplomatic title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary by the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia. On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional system from the "Prosperous Armenia" Party. On June 7, 2007 he was elected as Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration. He is married, has two children. LARISA ALAVERDYAN Larisa Alaverdyan was born on September 21, 1943 in Baku. In 1966 she graduated from Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute, in 2005 – RF Moscow State Academy of training and rise of qualification of administrative officers and specialists of investment sphere. She was a teacher of mathematics and drawing. She is a lawyer and a jurist. From 1960-1965 she worked as a tutor at Baku # 2 orphanage. From 1966-1967 she was a teacher of mathematics at Dashkesan # 2 secondary school. From 1967-1990 she worked at different research institutes of Armenia from junior research worker to head of division, and from head of division to deputy director at the computing centers. From 1988-1991 she was founder member and responsible secretary of Artsakh compatriot union. From 1991-1995 she was chief expert of the Special Committee of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia on Artsakh. From 1995-2004 she was executive director of the NGO Against Illegal Arbitrariness. From 2004-2006 she was Defender of Human Rights of the Republic of Armenia. From 2002 she teaches at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. From 1998-2004 she was a member of the Council on Missing Persons, Hostages and Prisoners of War adjunct to the Ministry of Defense. From 1999-2003 she was a member of the Council on Preparing the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper and Working Group. From 2000-2003 she was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Human Rights adjunct to RA President. She is a member of Women’s Republican Council, Expert Council adjunct to the Department of Migration and Refugees. On May 12, 2007 she was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly from the Heritage Party proportional list. She is married and has two children. ARMEN ASHOTYAN Armen Ashotyan was born on July 25, 1975 in Yerevan. In 1998 Mr. Ashotyan graduated from the faculty General Practice of Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) with a specialization General Medicine. In 2000 he graduated the clinical residency training from the same University with the specialization Forensic Medicine. In 2003 he defended his thesis and received the degree of Candidate of Science in Medicine. In 1999-2000 he worked as senior laboratory assistant to the Chair of Forensic Medicine of Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU). In 2002 he entered the RA State Management Academy. In 2002-2005 he worked as Assistant to Rector of YSMU. In 2003 he worked as Assistant to the Chair of Biochemistry of YSMU. In 2005 he finished the Moscow School of Political Researches. In 2005-2006 - Advisor to the Rector of YSMU on a volunteer basis. From 2006 till now - Docent of YSMU Chair of Biochemistry. From 2005-2007 he was a deputy in the NA (proportional system, RPA.). He was a member of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Health Care and Environment. He was a member of RPA faction. On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional system from the Republican Party of Armenia/RPA. He is a member of RPA Council. He is married and has a son. KAREN CHSHMARITIAN Karen Chshmaritian was born on September 12, 1959 in Yerevan. In 1980 he graduated from the Planning Economic faculty of Yerevan People’s Economy Institute, in 1985 he had postgraduate studies. He is an economist. In 1980 he worked as an economist in the Armenian Branch of the USSR State Planning and Normative Scientific-Research Institute. From 1980-1981 he had post- graduate studies in Yerevan People’s Economy Institute. 1981-1982 he served in the Soviet Army. 1985-1990 he worked as a senior economist, chief specialist and head of financial sub-division at the State Committee of Logistics of the Armenian SSR. 1990-1991 he was deputy general director at the HayElektraMekenaMetsAr National Union of the State Committee of Logistics of the Armenian SSR. 1991-1993 he was head of general department of inter-state deliveries of RA Ministry of Material Resources. 1993-1996 RA Deputy Minister Material Resources. 1996-1997 he was head of Foreign Trade Department of the RA Ministry of Trade, Services, and Tourism, 1997-1998 RA First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. From 1999- 2002 RA Minister of Industry and Trade. From 2002-2007 RA Minister of Trade and Economic Development. On May 12, 2007 he was elected a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional system from the Republican Party of Armenia. He is married and has two children. ARAYIK GRIGORYAN Arayik Grigoryan was born on May 10, 1963 in the village of Avshar in the Ararat region. Mr. Grigoryan received his degree in economics from Yerevan Institute of National Economy in 1989. From 1982-1984 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1989 he started his career as a senior inspector in Ararat Tax Inspectorate. From 1991-1994 he ran a private farm. Since 1984 he has been the president of the board of directors of Avshar Wine Factory. From 2003-2007 he was a deputy in the NA (proportional system, ARF). He was a member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. He was a member of the "Armenian Revolutionary Federation" Faction. On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional system from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation/ARF. Mr. Grigoryan is married and has four children. HOVHANNES MARGARYAN Hovhannes Margaryan was born on May 21, 1964 in Gyumri (Leninakan). Mr. Margaryan graduated from the Leninakan branch of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1985 and did his postgraduate studies in the Sergiev-Posad All-Russian Scientific Research Institute in Moscow Region in 1993. He is an engineer in food industry, engineer-researcher and a PhD in Agricultural Sciences. From 1986-1987 he served in the Soviet Army. For the next two years he worked first as an engineer and later as head of a boiler-house in a poultry factory of the village of Bayandour in the Akhouryan region. From 1989-1990 he worked as a leading engi- neer-thermo technician in the Leninakan Grinding Machine Plant. In 1994 he was the director of the Gyumri Confectionery Factory. In 1996 he was elected president of Gyumri Confectionery Factory OJSC and in 2002 he was elected member of Gyumri Council. From 2003-2007 he was a deputy in the NA (proportional system, "Rule of Law" Party). He was a member of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. He was a member of the "Rule of Law" Faction. On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional system from the "Rule of Law" Party. Mr. Margaryan is married and has three children. GAGIK MELIKYAN Gagik Melikyan was born on January 1, 1960 in the town of Berd.
