She has been a teacher of nursing for more than a quarter of a century, at the Schools of Nursing at University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Cornell University—New York Hospital, The Ohio State University, and West Virginia University. She currently holds the position of Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Academic Affairs at West Virginia University School of Nursing. Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, PhD, RN, FAAN, earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Georgetown University, her master’s degree from The Ohio State University, and her PhD from New York University. She has also been a teacher of nursing for more than a quarter of a century, teaching at the following Schools of Nursing: Capital Univer- sity, The Ohio State University, New York University, Wayne State University, Rutgers University, University of Maryland, Fairfield University, and Case Western Reserve University. She currently holds the position of Elizabeth Brooks Ford Professor of Nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, where she was dean for 15 years.
