Tonight’s game is going to be a rematch of the two starting pitchers that we saw in game number one of the series. The Quakes will be looking for a better showing out of Robbie Peto on the NORTH W L PCT GB mound, and will look to fire the offense back up as they try to salvage the final game of the series and stay ahead of Lake Elsinore in San Jose 33 14 .696 - the South Division Standings, as the Storm remain just a half-game out. Fresno 29 18 .609 4 LAST NIGHT’S GAME: Rancho’s struggles continued last night, as the Giants were victorious by a 7-2 final score. The Giants Modesto 25 22 .522 8 Stockton 20 27 .413 13 scored the first run of the game without the aid of a hit, as the first of two Rancho errors led to a 1-0 deficit. Gavin Stone worked the first three innings of the game without allowing a hit, but he ran into trouble in the fourth inning. The Giants got a pair of walks and SOUTH W L PCT GB tallied three doubles in the inning to post three runs and a 4-0 lead. Rancho responded with a run of their own in the top of the fifth, Rancho Cucamonga 23 23 .511 - as Edwin Mateo knocked in Wladimir Chalo for his tenth RBI of the season. The Giants answered with a pair of runs in the bottom Lake Elsinore 23 24 .500 .5 of the inning, as they profited from another Quakes error and a pair of singles. Rancho pushed a run across in the top of the seventh Inland Empire 21 25 .467 2 on an Eddys Leonard ground-out. That would be it for the scoring however, as Rancho would drop game five by a 7-2 final. Rancho Visalia 13 34 .283 10.5 stranded ten runners on base last night, including six in the last three innings. The strikeout struggles have continued for Rancho, as they struck out 12 times in this game. TODAY OPPORTUNITIES ALLOWED: Throughout the series, the Giants offense has been impressively opportunistic when Rancho Fresno at Visalia, 1:00 PM has made mistakes. Last night was no different, Stone walked three batters, and all three came around to score. Rancho committed Modesto at Lake Elsinore, 4:05 PM Rancho Cucamonga two errors, and one came around to score, and the other error allowed a runner to score all the way from first. Since game one of the at San Jose, 5:00 PM series, San Jose has scored over half of their base-runners that have reached base by walk or by getting hit by a pitch. Rancho has also Stockton at Inland Empire, 5:35 PM committed at least one error that has led to a run in each game of the series. The Quakes will need to clean it up on the defensive side of the ball in the final game of the series if they want to avoid the devastating six-game sweep. The No Games Scheduled Quakes will be hitting the road after tonight’s game and will head to Fresno for a series against the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies will be another very difficult test for the Quakes as they have the second best record in the league. Rancho will finally get to return to the TUESDAY friendly-confines of LoanMart Field the following week against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Inland Empire at Lake Elsinore, 5:35 PM ROBBIE PETO: The Quakes will look to salvage the final game of the series tonight, and they will send Robbie Peto back to the hill Modesto at Visalia, 6:00 PM after he started game one on Tuesday. Peto is still in search of that first win of the season. In his last appearance, Peto struggled with Rancho Cucamonga at Fresno, 6:50 PM command in game one, as he walked five batters in 2.2 innings on the hill. Peto worked around those walks for the most part, as he San Jose at Stockton, 7:05 PM allowed just three hits and a pair of runs in that start, but took the loss to fall to 0-2. Teams are hitting for a .306 average against Peto through his first nine appearances of the season. The former Stetson Hatter was a 26th round selection back in the 2019 draft. LOW-A WEST SCOREBOARD RYAN MURPHY: The Giants are one game away from sweeping the South Division-leading Quakes. The Giants will return to their YESTERDAY game one starter tonight in Ryan Murphy. After struggling a bit against the Quakes offense in game one of the series, Murphy will be looking to rebound here in game six. Murphy went just 3.1 innings in his first start, and allowed four runs on five hits. Murphy struck San Jose 7 Rancho Cucamonga 2 out six Quakes and allowed just a pair of free passes. Rancho has scored more runs off of Ryan Murphy than any other Giants pitcher Modesto 12 Lake Elsinore 11 that they have faced throughout this series. Murphy got the no-decision on Tuesday, but will be hunting his second win, as he makes Fresno 7 Visalia 5 his tenth start of the season tonight. Murphy was a 2020 fifth round selection out of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York by the Stockton 7 Inland Empire 2 Giants. AROUND THE FARM: Last night, the Great Lakes Loons had their game postponed due to weather, and that game will be made up today, as part of a double-header against the Lake County Captains to end the series. The Tulsa Drillers continued their winning 2021 QUAKES AT A GLANCE ways with a nail-biting 8-7 victory over the Springfield Cardinals. The Dodgers will play their final game of their four-game series with the Cubs.
