Today begins the first of three series to be played in San Jose between the Quakes and the 2018 2ND HALF STANDINGS Giants. Upon completing this series, the Quakes will return home on Monday, July 9th to face Lancaster for four straight. Dodgers RHP Walker Buehler joined the Quakes on a major league rehab assignment and worked into the fourth inning, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five. Gavin Lux SOUTH W L PCT GB homered and drove in two runs, while the Rancho bullpen fired six innings of scoreless baseball. Austin Hamilton (1-0) recorded the Rancho Cucamonga* 11 2 .846 - victory in his California League debut while Michael Boyle tossed a scoreless ninth for his third save. The win keeps the Quakes with the best second-half record (11-2). Lake Elsinore 4 9 .308 7.0 STREAK STUFF: The Quakes enter Wednesday on a season-long eight-game winning streak, following three wins on the road at Lake Elsinore and five at home over Inland Empire. Prior to this run, the longest winning streak of the year was five games. Over the * First-Half Division Winner current stretch, the Quakes are outscoring their opponents 46-13. The last time they won eight straight was back in 2015 (May 9-18). The last time they won nine straight was in 2014 (June 25 - July 4). The longest winning streak in franchise history is 11 straight, CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD accomplished back in 1999 (June 1-12). Rancho has also won eight straight at LoanMart Field, a season-high. Yesterday CONQUERING THE GIANTS: Over the first series of the season Rylan Bannon and Cody Thomas showcased early success against San Jose 0 at Visalia 7 the Giants pitching staff. Bannon batted .643 over four games with two home runs and two doubles while slugging 1.214. Thomas Inland Empire 1 at Rancho Cucamonga 4 slugged four home runs over the recent series and finished 6-16 at the plate with a .474 on-base percentage. Lake Elsinore 3 at Modesto 4 D-LUX: Since missing two weeks (including the All-Star Game) with a hamstring injury, Gavin Lux has hit in six of seven games, Lancaster 2 at Stockton 7 including six in a row. The last three games, Lux has recorded two hits in each and smacked his first round-tripper since coming off the DL in last night's 4-1 win over Inland Empire. Rancho Cucamonga at San Jose, 6:30 PM HEATING UP: After going 0-for-17 in June, Nick Yarnall has hit safely in all three July games, going 6-for-11 with a home run. Modesto at Lancaster, 6:35 PM BANNON'S BIG WEEKS: INF Rylan Bannon was named the California League Player of the Week last Monday for the second Stockton at Inland Empire, 7:05 PM time in the month of June. Following the all-star break, Bannon batted .643 with two doubles, two HR's, 5 RBI and 4 runs over a four- game series against San Jose. Bannon received league honors in the first week of June as well when he hit .458 with two doubles, four HR's, eight RBI, and six runs scored. Two other Quakes have received league honors this season as Gavin Lux was named Player of the Week in late April and Dustin May received pitcher of the week honors in May. Tomorrow RECENT ROSTER MOVES: On Monday, RHP Tony Gonsolin was placed on the Disabled List. Parker Curry was transferred from Modesto at Lancaster, 6:35 PM Rancho Cucamonga at San Jose, 7:00 PM Rancho Cucamonga to Double-A Tulsa of the Texas League. LHP Leo Crawford and LHP Austin Hamilton have been transferred from Low-A Great Lakes of the Midwest League to Rancho Cucamonga. Visalia at Lake Elsinore, 7:00 PM CRAWFORD ON CALL: LHP Leo Crawford (1-0) is scheduled to make his first career start and third overall appearance for the Stockton at Inland Empire, 7:05 PM Quakes today. Crawford last pitch for the Quakes with the club in April, earning a victory his last time out on 4/13, allowing two runs over 2.2 innings of work against Inland Empire. Crawford was later sent to Low-A Great Lakes in the Midwest League where he has pitched primarily this season (0-5, 4.12 ERA, 14G, 9GS). The Dodgers signed the 21-year-old Crawford as an International Free 2018 QUAKES AT A GLANCE Agent in 2015 out of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. 1st Half Record: 35-35 OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Logan Webb will start today for the Giants in his 16th start and second outing against Rancho Cu- 2nd Half Record: 11-2 camonga. Webb last faced the Quakes in the final game of the recent series on 6/24 and allowed just two hits over four innings of vs San Jose: 3-1 shutout baseball in a no-decision. Although Webb commands a sub-two ERA (1.94) the right-hander has not pitched past the fourth vs SJ Home 3-1 inning this season, recording a win in his one relief appearance on 4/16. Dodgers INF Justin Turner joined the Quakes along with INF Logan Forsythe in a weekend series vs. Visalia (5/12-5/13). Turner was 0-for-6 at the plate while Forsythe finished 1-for-10 with a double during the time in Rancho. Yasiel Puig joined the club on Date Opponent Result/Time rehab assignment Tuesday (5/8) in Lake Elsinore. Puig was 0-for-4 at the plate and was removed from the game in the June 21 San Jose L, 5-6 seventh inning.
