Job responsibilities I am a member of One Health Epidemiology Fellowship program in South Asia and enrolled in Master in Biosecurity of Massey University. Currently, I am involved in a One Health study titled ”Survey on biosecurity, movements and trade network analysis to assess spread and risk management of HPAI in backyard and commercial poultry in Bangladesh”. The objective is to develop policy for detecting the presence of a new subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza if it should enter Bangladesh and control policies to minimize the spread and impact of such a virus on poultry and/or humans.

Page 1 Job responsibilities I am a Member of a research group engaged in a Phase III clinical trial titled as “An individually randomized, placebo-controlled trial to measure the protection conferred by a single dose regimen of bivalent, killed, whole cell oral cholera vaccine (Shanchol) in Dhaka, Bangladesh”.

I am the part of the same group which is also involved in a large feasibility study which involves evaluation of a 2-dose regimen of oral cholera vaccine Shanchol and a hand washing and home water treatment with behavior change program promoting improved hygiene in reducing dehydrating diarrhea in 6 wards in an area of high cholera incidence at Mirpur in Dhaka.

In both studies, I am responsible for ensuring the ethical issues (approval from IRB, Drug Administration, Clinicaltrial.gov, looking after the vulnerable groups like children and women) both at institutional and participant level as well as conducting the post vaccination disease surveillance in different health facilities of the study area.

Besides this, I am working in a continued collaborative study between icddr,b and the Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School which is focused on defining the mechanisms of protective immunity to infection with V. cholerae and in better understanding factors needed for the development of an improved cholera vaccine.

Moreover, my job responsibilities include more few of which are mentioned below-

1. Help in protocol writing, maintaining regulatory & ethical aspects of study and training of the staffs. 2. Patient care, treatment & providing medical advice to the enrolled subjects of different studies. 3. Establishment of an effective disease surveillance system in different health facilities in Dhaka city (urban settings) & in Keranigonj upazilla (rural settings). 4.Monitoring & supervision of surveillance staffs as well as liason with higher authorities in both rural & urban settings 5. Proper documentation & report writing regarding ongoing studies including surveillance.
