This study reports a brackish water invasion on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea constructed from a multi-proxy analysis of sediment retrieved from the Langarud wetland. The ground surface level of wetland is >6 m higher than the current Caspian Sea level (at −27.41 m in 2014) and located >11 km far from the coast. A sequence covering the last millennium was dated by three radiocarbon dates. The results from this new study suggest that Caspian Sea level rose up to at least −21.44 m (i.e. >6 m above the present water level) during the early ‘Little Ice Age’. Although previous studies in the southern coast of the Caspian Sea have detected a high-stand during the Little Ice Age period, this study presents the first evidence that this high-stand reached so far inland and at such a high altitude. Moreover, it confirms one of the very few earlier estimates of a high-stand at −21 m for the second half of the 14th century. -

Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A total of 342 taxa from 75 families and 237 genera were collected from four main vegetation types. The families Asteraceae and Poaceae were the largest, with 49 and 42 taxa, respectively. Fifty-eight exotic taxa were found, representing 17% of the total flora. The bird names have been listed and classified according to the scientific codes. An etymological study has been presented for scientific names, including genus and species. If it was possible we have provided the etymology of Persian and Gilaki native names of the birds. According to our best knowledge, there was no previous report gathering and describing the ornithological fauna of this part of the world. Gilan province, due to its meteorological circumstances and the richness of its animal life has harbored a wide range of animals. Therefore, the nomenclature system used by the natives for naming the animals, specially birds, has a prominent stance in this country. Many of these local and dialectal names of the birds have been entered into standard language of the country (Persian language). The study has presented majority of comprehensive list of the Gilaki bird names, categorized according to the ornithological classifications. -

Anaplasmosis is generally caused by intraerythrocytic rickettsia of Anaplasma genus and transmitted biologically and mechanically. The current study was designed to determine the prevalence of Anaplasma spp. in cattle in Talesh; one of the rainy Iranian counties in Gilan province, Iran. From May to November 2015, one hundred and fifty blood samples of cattle were collected from different regions in Talesh. DNA was extracted from blood samples and subsequently, 16S rRNA and MSP4 genes were analysed by Nested-PCR method for differentiation of Anaplasma spp. The results showed that 40.66% of blood samples were positive for Anaplasma spp. and that 24.66%, 35.33%, 9.33% and 12% of positive samples were infected with A. phagocytophilum, A. bovis, A. marginale and A. centrale respectively. Statistical analysis by Chi-square test did not show any significant rela- tionship between the presence of Anaplasma species and variables sex, age and tick infestation (P˃0.05). -

This diversity is particularly evident in Scandiceae subtribe Daucinae, a group encompassing species with wings or spines developing on fruit secondary ribs. In this paper, we explore fruit evolution in 86 representatives of Scandiceae and outgroups to assess adaptive shifts related to the evolutionary switch between anemochory and epizoochory and to identify possible dispersal syndromes, i.e., patterns of covariation of morphological and life-history traits that are associated with a particular vector. We also assess the phylogenetic signal in fruit traits. Principal component analysis of 16 quantitative fruit characters and of plant height did not clearly separate spe- cies having diferent dispersal strategies as estimated based on fruit appendages. Only presumed anemochory was weakly associated with plant height and the fattening of mericarps with their accompanying anatomical changes. We conclude that in Scandiceae, there are no distinct dispersal syndromes, but a continuum of fruit morphologies relying on diferent dispersal vectors. Phylogenetic mapping of ten discrete fruit characters on trees inferred by nrDNA ITS and cpDNA sequence data revealed that all are homoplastic and of limited use for the delimitation of genera. -

Spathulenol (29.2%), β-farnesene (18.5%) and β-caryophyllene (10.2%) were detected the major constituents of the plant. With this study, chemotypes of studied sample was spathulenol, β-farnesene and β-caryophyllene. -
