2016 About CAMPHENRY

Welcome!

We sure hope that this brochure will help provide you with information about the programs and activities offered at Camp Henry and get you excited to come to the Shores of Old Lake Kimball.

We have had the privilege of serving campers, families, and guests at Camp Henry since 1937. We believe that a camping experience at Camp Henry has the capacity to transform lives in many ways. With such a concentrated amount of time, a beautiful natural environment, intentional camp programs and activities, opportunities to try something new, and campers being surrounded by positive Christian role models - the combination is perfect for enhancing and positively changing the lives of campers and guests who come to Camp Henry.

Camp Henry welcomes campers of all faiths as well as no faith at all. We don’t require, assume, or expect that all campers are Christians or come from Christian families. Our hope is to simply be Christian toward everyone who comes to camp

Our expectation is that everyone who comes to Camp Henry – whether a summer camper in July or a student coming in the Fall with their school group – will have the opportunity to have a life changing experience in a loving, caring, authentic, Christian environment. Our staff members are truly awesome – energetic, encouraging, compassionate, fun- loving, dedicated, hard-working, and full of joy – and can hardly wait to welcome you to Camp Henry – please join us!

FACILITIES

Camp Henry has had such a huge impact on making me the person I am today. I’m so grateful to have been able to spend my summers on the shores at Camp Henry with the amazing staff and campers. It is truly my second home and my favorite place on Earth. - Katie B. / Summer Camper

When you close your eyes and try to picture the ideal traditional camp setting – what you would picture is likely exactly what you will find at Camp Henry. A picturesque lakefront location with cabins tucked in the woods with multiple program and activity areas.

Camp Henry sits on over 200 beautiful acres, along the shores of Lake Kimball in Newaygo, MI, 35 miles north of Grand Rapids.

All campers and guests can expect modern heated lodges and cabins with bathrooms. We welcome up to 200 campers each week during the summer and during the year we have the capacity to welcome and serve groups of up to 270 guests. TRANSFORMING CAMPHENRY In 2013, Camp Henry embarked on a plan to Transform the Facilities at Camp Henry. With summer camp enrollment increasing each year and with growing numbers of year-round guests, the plan created included a number of significant and important improvements to help meet the growing demand. Since 2013, Camp Henry has invested over $2.3 million in this transformation – and has been able to:

• Build 7 new year-round cabins, that include bathrooms and heat • Build 2 new apartments, to support medical staff, group leaders, chaperones, and volunteers • Build a beautiful new deck and boathouse along Lake Kimball • Purchase a 36 passenger trolley to help transport campers and guests with mobility challenges throughout camp • Install over 1,700 feet of durable pathways through camp – making our facilities and programs accessible to persons who utilize wheelchairs • Renovate Millar Lodge with new furniture, paint, carpet, and a new deck overlooking the lake • Build exciting new High Adventure Activities, including: • New Climbing Tower, Cargo Net, with two Zip Lines • New Leap of Faith (New for 2016!) • New Giant Swing (New for 2016!) • New High Ropes Course, with a new QuickJump (New for 2016!) • Renovate Idema Theater, to include giant hydraulic doors, new flooring, heat, and A/V upgrades (New for 2016!) • Break ground on the $1.1 million addition to the Dining Hall, expanding the capacity from 187 to 300 and adding a conference room as well as a new commercial kitchen (To be completed in April 2016!)

We are super excited about all of these transformations and extremely thankful to all of the generous donors and contributors that have helped make these transformations possible.

Our plan for Transforming the Facilities at Camp Henry calls for more improvements and additions, and we anticipate investing an additional $1.4 million over the next few years.

All of these incredible transformations to our facilities have helped position Camp Henry to be able to positively transform the lives of campers and guests for years to come.
