REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Artifact Mount Making Services ‐ Bullock Texas State History Museum State Preservation Board RFP # 809‐18‐0045 ADDENDUM #1 Date issued: May 2, 2018

This Addendum modifies the original Request for Proposal (RFP) documents dated April 17, 2018. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum by signing below and returning with proposal submittal.

All Questions Received by 5PM, May 1, 2018 Question Deadline and SPB Responses:

1. How many colors will the mounts need to be painted? SPB Response: The mounts will be painted to match each object, so the number of colors will vary.

2. The pieces marked "Framed hang on wall", are they already framed or will they require framing? SPB Response: All four (4) pieces listed as "Framed, hang on wall" are already framed.

3. The pieces marked "Fabric wrapped backboard" (artifact#s: 04029,03979, 03974, 03976, 04101), will we supply the board and backing fabric? SPB Response: Yes, Contractor will supply conservation approved board and fabric to be specified.

4. The pieces marked "Acrylic back and ledge" are they wall or deck mount or will it depend? SPB Response: Both wall and deck mount.

5. Do you have a preferred acrylic thickness? SPB Response: 1/8" acrylic for backs and ledges, unless the document is over 2' x 2', requiring 1/4".

6. What do the mount category codes mean? ( B, C, D, E, G, H, I ) SPB Response: See attached drawing 05.15 ‐ ARTIFACT MOUNTS, showing these mount types.

7. Will we be required to manufacture any case work? SPB Response: No. All casework will be provided by others.

8. Should all of the mounts arrive at the same time to be installed or should the arrival schedule be staggered to allow the museum staff to address any issues with custom fitting? SPB Response: Mounts can arrive in batches, however the RFP includes installation by the Contractor with assistance from museum staff, if needed.

9. Will the museum staff be present to assist with install and/or advise on artifact placement? SPB Response: Yes.

10. What space or facilities will be available for working with the mounts and secure storage for Contractor’s tools and equipment? SPB Response: Secure space will be provided on site at the Museum for mount making work and tool storage.

11. Will parking be available? Is there a cost for parking? SPB Response: Parking will be provided at no cost to the Contractor.

12. Are travel and lodging costs to be included in the estimate? SPB Response: Yes.

13. Are there case layouts and other design drawings from the Exhibit Designer available for this estimate? Will artifact layouts in the cases need to be done by the Mount Maker? SPB Response: Layouts are not available at this time but will be provided to the Contractor at a later date.

14. On Attachment C: Artifact List, there is a category on the spreadsheet for “Mount” and letter corresponding to a type of mount. Can you clarify what those types are or what the letters mean? SPB Response: See attached drawing 05.15 ‐ ARTIFACT MOUNTS, showing these mount types.

15. Artifact #040209 Spanish Soldier Armor is designated to have a dress form. Is there a type of mannequin form that has been specified or is preferred for this artifact? SPB Response: A conservation grade museum form is to be used, but no particular model has been specified.
