San Antonio College Bulletin 5 OUTSTANDING FORMER STUDENT: 2005-006 DR. WILLIAM BREIT Dr. William Breit is Emeritus Professor of Economics at Trinity University, where he served as E.M. Stevens Distinguished Professor of Economics from 1983-1999. He is also an Adjunct Scholar for the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research. He attended San Antonio College 1950- 1951, where Professor Truett Chance “opened my eyes to a whole new world of economics” with the exciting way he taught, stressing “how economics is a way of thinking and solving problems of all kinds in society.” After receiving an AA degree from San Antonio College, Dr. Breit continued his study of economics, receiving his B.A. and M.A. degrees at the University of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University. He has taught economics at Michigan State University, Louisiana State University, University of Virginia, and Trinity University. Dr. Breit describes his economic philosophy as eclectic, picking and choosing the best ideas from the best economists, which includes both John Kenneth Galbraith and Milton William Breit, Ph.D. Friedman.
