PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE Feb 2010- Coordinator, Western Illinois Field Station of the Illinois State Archaeological Present Survey, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Duties are the same as those listed immediately below.

Feb 2001- Coordinator, Western Illinois Survey Division of the Illinois Transportation Jan 2010 Archaeological Research Program, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Coordinator directs or otherwise oversees all Phase I, II, and III field and laboratory work undertaken in IDOT Districts 4 and 6, as well as southwestern-most counties in District 2 and the northwestern-most counties in District 8. Responsibilities include coordination and consultation with the Director and State-Wide Survey Coordinator of ITARP and the IDOT Chief Archaeologist concerning project priorities and fieldwork/ report status. In addition, the Division Coordinator is involved in or oversees all aspects of analysis and report preparation undertaken in the Western Division.

July 1998- District Archaeologist/Assistant Coordinator, Western Illinois Survey Division of the Jan 2001 Illinois Transportation Archaeological Research Program, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. District Archaeologist serves as the regional fieldwork supervisor for twenty-eight counties located within the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Districts 4, 6, and northern 8. Responsibilities include the design, scheduling, and direction of numerous Phase I and II fieldwork projects, day to day supervision of lab director and crew, regional research, analysis, and report preparation.

June 1985- Archeological Technician, Center for American Archaeology, Contract Archaeology Dec 1995 Program. Responsibilities included participation in several survey, testing, and excavation projects associated with the FAP 408 and Pere Marquette Lodge projects, under the direction Kenneth B. Farnsworth and C. Russell Stafford.

June 1984- Archeological Technician. Center for American Archaeology, Contract Archaeology Aug 1984 Program. Participated in block excavation on the FAP 408 Ambrose Flick site, under the direction of C. Russell Stafford.

Aug 1983 Archeological Technician, Western Illinois University Archaeological Research Laboratory. Participated in Phase II evaluation of the Ursa Creek Fan site, under the the direction of Lawrence A. Conrad and Duane Esarey.

ADDITIONAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Dec 2012 Served as an ISAS representative or team member at the Illinois Archaeology Program Process Review with IDOT, IHPA, and FHWA to identify best practices and opportunities for improvements/streamlining the Section 106 Process. Springfield and Urbana, Illinois.

August 2012- Serving as a voluntary scholarship reviewer/committee member for the Carl B. Larson Scholarship in Archaeology at Western Illinois University in Macomb.

July 2003- Co-directing an unfunded study of two War of 1812-era Present historic forts in Warsaw, IL using geophysical and standard archaeological survey techniques. Project employs volunteer labor consisting of both avocational and professional archaeologists working on weekends and evenings.

March 2002- Directed an unfunded study of a Folsom-age habitation site located July 2006 in the Central Valley. Project involved multiple revisit survey, controlled surface collection, and lithic analysis of remains recovered from the Brandon’s Point (11F2989) site complex. Project used volunteer labor consisting of both avocational and professional archaeologists.

Nov 2003- Served on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Archaeological Survey, INC., Oct 2006 which is a professional society that provides oversight for archaeology undertaken in the State.

July 2005 Completed a two-day continuing education workshop conducted by the SRI Foundation in Collinsville, Illinois entitled Section 106: Principles and Practice.

May 1986- Designed and implemented an unfunded survey of a portion of the Bear Creek 1999 Drainage in Adams County, Illinois for the Western Illinois University Archaeological Research Laboratory. Project involved multiple revisit survey using volunteer labor consisting of both professional and avocational archaeologists.

Mar 1989 Designed and undertook unfunded salvage excavations at the E.E. Andrew ‘40’ site (11A1061) for the Western Illinois University Archaeological Research Laboratory. Project involved controlled surface collection, surface mapping, and the excavation subsurface pit and structural features threatened by agricultural terrace construction, using a volunteer labor force consisting of professional and avocational archaeologists.

Feb 1986- Designed and conducted independent research for Graduate Special Project at Western May 1986 Illinois University. Lawrence A. Conrad and William A. Combs, advisors. Project consisted of archival, collector interview, and pedestrian survey search for the location of an eighteenth century historic Ioway village in Hancock County, Illinois.
