Another HenleyBy P. B. HawkinsAll I can say is congratulations to Beth Henley! Henley won a Pulitzer for "Crimes of the Heart" which I have read and seen performed. I was underwhelmed by both experiences. As an audience member who has seen my share of theatrical performances, "Abundance" does not have near the staying power of "Crimes of the Heart". I very much appreciate southern writers, female southern writers in particular. Perhaps Henley is over my head and I just don't get it. If that is the case, I say touche'.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy ElizabethWomen struggle with dreams of love and adventure. From the Pulitzer Prize winning author of Crimes of the Heart comes this poignant but unromanticized story of the hard lives of pioneers on the high plains of Wyoming in the 1860's. Macon and Bess are two mail-order brides, lured to the West by the promise of new beginnings through marriage to men they have never met.

  • Jessica Lange Regis Dialogue Formatted
Jessica Lange Regis Dialogue with Molly Haskell, 1997 Bruce Jenkins: Let me say that these dialogues have for the better part of this decade focused on that part of cinema devoted to narrative or dramatic filmmaking, and we've had evenings with actors, directors, cinematographers, and I would say really especially with those performers that we identify with the cutting edge of narrative filmmaking. In describing tonight's guest, Molly Haskell spoke of a creative artist who not only did a sizeable number of important projects but more importantly, did the projects that she herself wanted to see made. The same I think can be said about Molly Haskell. She began in the 1960s working in New York for the French Film Office at that point where the French New Wave needed a promoter and a writer and a translator. She eventually wrote the landmark book From Reverence to Rape on women in cinema from 1973 and republished in 1987, and did sizable stints as the film reviewer for Vogue magazine, The Village Voice, New York magazine, New York Observer, and more recently, for On the Issues. Her most recent book, Holding My Own in No Man's Land, contains her last two decades' worth of writing. I'm please to say it's in the Walker bookstore, as well. Our other guest tonight needs no introduction here in the Twin Cities nor in Cloquet, Minnesota, nor would I say anyplace in the world that motion pictures are watched and cherished. She's an internationally recognized star, but she's really a unique star.

  • The 48 Stars That People Like Less Than Anne Hathaway  by Nate Jones
The 48 Stars That People Like Less Than Anne Hathaway By Nate Jones Spend a few minutes reading blog comments, and you might assume that Anne Hathaway’s approval rating falls somewhere between that of Boko Haram and paper cuts — but you'd actually be completely wrong. According to E-Poll likability data we factored into Vulture's Most Valuable Stars list, the braying hordes of Hathaway haters are merely a very vocal minority. The numbers say that most people actually like her. Even more shocking? Who they like her more than. In calculating their E-Score Celebrity rankings, E-Poll asked people how much they like a particular celebrity on a six-point scale, which ranged from "like a lot" to "dislike a lot." The resulting Likability percentage is the number of respondents who indicated they either "like" Anne Hathaway or "like Anne Hathaway a lot." Hathaway's 2014 Likability percentage was 67 percent — up from 66 percent in 2013 — which doesn't quite make her Will Smith (85 percent), Sandra Bullock (83 percent), Jennifer Lawrence (76 percent), or even Liam Neeson (79 percent), but it does put her well above plenty of stars whose appeal has never been so furiously impugned on Twitter. Why? Well, why not? Anne Hathaway is a talented actress and seemingly a nice person. The objections to her boiled down to two main points: She tries too hard, and she's overexposed. But she's been absent from the screen since 2012'sLes Misérables, so it's hard to call her overexposed now. And trying too hard isn't the worst thing in the world, especially when you consider the alternative.

Working Paper: The Vulnerabilities of Developed States to Economic Cyber Warfare INTRODUCTION The central features of the ‘cybered’ world of the early 21st century are the interconnectedness of global communications, information and economic infrastructures and the dependence upon those infrastructures in order to govern, to do business or simply to live. There are a number of observations to be made of this world. First, it is still evolving. Economically developed societies are becoming ever more closely connected within themselves and with other, technologically advanced societies, and all are becoming increasingly dependent upon the rapid and reliable transmission of ideas, information and data. Second, where interconnectedness and dependency are not managed and mitigated by some form of security procedure, reversionary mode or redundancy system, then the result can only be a complex and vitally important communications system which is nevertheless vulnerable to information theft, financial electronic crime, malicious attack or infrastructure breakdown.

High School - Lesson 1 I Am Jazz Homework (Lesson HS-1) Name: _________________________ Date: _________________________ INSTRUCTIONS: • Please go to https://tinyurl.com/iamjazzhomework and watch Season 1 Episode 1 of “I Am Jazz” until 10:11. • Once you are done, please answer the questions below. 1. When Mom and Dad talked about knowing they were having a boy, Dad talked about what he was looking forward to. What things was he excited to do with his child based on the sex he assumed Jazz was? 2. Jazz’s dad talked about not wanting to go out into the world when Jazz was wearing a dress. Why do you think he felt that way? Do you think he would have felt that way had his daughter wanted to leave wearing pants? Why or why not? 3. Why do you think Jazz was not allowed to go to school “dressed as a girl”? Do you agree with them for doing that or do you think she should have been allowed to? Why or why not? 4. When talking to more than one person, you’ll notice they say “you guys.” This is used a lot in real life, too.
