Outdoor Mindfulness - Valleys Steps in Partnership with Ynysangharad War ​ Memorial Park will be holding an outdoor mindfulness session at the park on August ​ 15th from 6pm-7pm. This event is open access - no need to book or sign up, just ​ turn up on the night at the bowls pavilion behind the tennis court and bowls green in the park. Breathing Space - If you are feeling stressed, anxious or depressed come along to ​ the Muni Arts Centre, every Thursday from 1pm-3pm for a cup of tea ​ ​ ​ ​ and share stories in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Shalom Drop-In Centre - a safe space for people to come and have a cuppa, and ​ meet a friendly face and a listening ear in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. The Soup Dragons monthly luncheon club on 13th August will be held at St Mary ​ ​ and St James Church Hall Taff’s Well from 12 until 3pm . It is for isolated or lonely ​ ​ ​ individuals in the , Taff’s Well, Ty Rhiw, Tongwynlais and Gwaelod y Garth

Try your hand at canoeing on Cyfarthfa Park Lake The Venture Out programme run by Merthyr Tydfil Council is holding a canoeing day at Cyfarthfa Park Lake on Friday, 10 August, from 11am-4pm. Seven canoes and three instructors will be available, with each 15-minute session costing just £3 per person. New befriending service available - Welcome Friends have now extended their ​ befriending service to Merthyr Tydfil, having operated successfully in the RCT area

NHS Breast Screening returns to Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil Women aged between 50 and 70 this year will be sent invitations to attend for screening. The mobile screening units will be based at:- Aberdare - Ysbwty Cwm Cynon Car Park from mid Aug 2018 to Mid Jan 2019 ​ Merthyr Tydfil - Keir Hardie Health Park from beginning of June 2018 to ​ beginning of Jan 2019.
