We are witness to the horrific effect of poison on both the birds and the members of the public who encounter the suffering birds. Please ban the use of bird poison within the City limits of Saskatoon. At MINIMUM, please require the use of visible signage at sites where poison has been put out so that members of the public can be aware of the risks to both them and their pets, as well as to look for the seizing birds in the vicinity. I would like to be able to speak to this at a council meeting. I have attached a letter and a file of the almost 3000 names supporting a ban on bird poisoning in Saskatoon. Thank you, Jan Shadick / Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation 1 May 2, 2021 Letter to City Council: The world is in its second year of the pandemic. If we have learned nothing else, it is that suffering is not acceptable. Yet we continue to create suffering for our wildlife by using bird poison. These events do not go unnoticed. People find the shaking seizing birds, pick them up and frantically call around to find help for them. Compassion is a powerful force that has shone a light during the darkest times these last two years. Let’s shine that light in the direction of our wildlife. Bird poisoning is inhumane, deadly for the birds, our pets, and other wildlife. There are other options available to “manage” the pigeon population if residents feel the need to do so. Almost 3000 people agree that bird poison needs to be banned in the City of Saskatoon. They have signed either the paper petition or the on-line petition asking Council to end the inhumane practice of poisoning our birds, and by default our environment. What is necessary for Council to heed this request? Does someone’s pet dog or cat have to die for Council to realize the potential hazard of bird poisoning? Do your constituents deserve to see this suffering on the streets of Saskatoon? Do they deserve to be traumatized by witnessing these birds’ distress? Maybe Council can be the ones to tell these individuals that the bird died when they call us back to check on “their” bird? At minimum, Council needs to at least require signage on the buildings where poison has been dispersed. Signage is required for pesticide applications on lawns to inform the public to stay clear of that area. Such signage would at least allow the public to monitor their pets and be aware of what is happening if they do find a bird in distress. It is not “just” pigeons affected by the poison. We have received Crows and Magpies as well that had ingested the toxins and were poisoned. Our environment is a closed system where everything is connected and related to the survival of each individual component. What are we doing but poisoning ourselves when we poison a part of our biological web? Please rethink this barbaric practice and ban bird poisoning in Saskatoon once and for all. • Dallas (1978 TV Series)
Dallas (1978 TV series) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article is about the original 1978–1991 television series. For the sequel, see Dallas (2012 TV series). Dallas is a long-running American prime time television soap opera that aired from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991, on CBS. The series revolves around a wealthy and feuding Texan family, the Ewings, who own the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork. The series originally focused on the marriage of Bobby Ewing and Pamela Barnes, whose families were sworn enemies with each other. As the series progressed, oil tycoon J.R. Ewing grew to be the show's main character, whose schemes and dirty business became the show's trademark.[1] When the show ended in May 1991, J.R. was the only character to have appeared in every episode. The show was famous for its cliffhangers, including the Who shot J.R.? mystery. The 1980 episode Who Done It remains the second highest rated prime-time telecast ever.[2] The show also featured a "Dream Season", in which the entirety of the ninth season was revealed to have been a dream of Pam Ewing's. After 14 seasons, the series finale "Conundrum" aired in 1991. The show had a relatively ensemble cast. Larry Hagman stars as greedy, scheming oil tycoon J.R. Ewing, stage/screen actressBarbara Bel Geddes as family matriarch Miss Ellie and movie Western actor Jim Davis as Ewing patriarch Jock, his last role before his death in 1981. The series won four Emmy Awards, including a 1980 Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series win for Bel Geddes.

  • Spring 2019 Candidates Won a Prestrigious National Scholarship During Their OSU Undergraduate and Graduate Studies
Spring Commencement 2019 May 10 & 11 History of Oklahoma State University The story of Oklahoma State University began on Christmas Eve, 1890, at the McKennon Opera House in Oklahoma’s territorial capital of Guthrie when Territorial Governor George W. Steele signed legislation establishing an Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (OAMC) in Payne County. OAMC’s first students assembled for class on December 14, 1891, even though there were no buildings, no books, and no curriculum. The college’s first students attended classes in the Stillwater Congregational Church. The original campus consisted of 200 acres of prairie that were donated by four local homesteaders. The college’s first six graduates received their diplomas in 1896. Visitors to the OSU campus often marvel at its beauty and consistency of architecture. Much of the credit goes to legendary president, Henry G. Bennett, who served from 1928-1951. Dr. Bennett’s 25-year campus master plan envisioned some of the university’s most famous and beautiful structures, including the Edmon Low Library and the OSU Student Union. Under the direction of OSU President Burns Hargis, a new campus master plan is guiding unprecedented construction that is making OSU more competitive in academics and athletics. Starting in the fall of 2008, OSU has opened the Multimodal Transportation Terminal, the North Classroom Building, the west end zone of Boone Pickens Stadium, refurbished Old Central, the Donald W. Reynolds Architecture Building, an upgraded Murray Hall, the Henry Bellmon Research Center, an updated and expanded Student Union, the Greenwood Tennis Center, the north wing to the College of Human Sciences building, an upgraded Atherton Hotel in the Student Union, the innovative University Commons residential complex and dining facility, the crescent-shaped business building, and the world-class ENDEAVOR facility for interdisciplinary research.
