Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres headed the list of speakers at the beautiful outdoor ceremony. He praised Mrs. Herzog for her vision and initiatives in furthering environmental education and in putting the conservation and beautification of Israel on the national agenda.

Menachem, formerly a busy tour guide, agreed to an interview in order to promote the concept of horticultural therapy. He once traveled the country extensively with family and friends, but since suffering a stroke three years ago, Menachem uses a wheelchair. For over two years he was unable to indulge in any enrichment activity. GEARING UP FOR DAMAGED PROJECTS IN THE NORTH In the summer of 2006, following the second Lebanon war, the Council faced the goal of erasing war damage to the environment. Our main focus is the North – rehabilitation of existing CBI projects and focusing on new projects. Plans are underway, enjoying the full cooperation of local municipalities.
