A5 By-catch Species APPENDIX 5: BY-CATCH SPECIES A.5 By-catch species By-catch is the unintentional/incidental capture of non-target species during fishing operations. Different types of fisheries have different types and levels of by-catch, depending on the gear used, the time, area and depth fished, etc. Article IV of the Convention states: "the Commission shall be responsible for the study of the population of tuna and tuna-like fishes (the Scombriformes with the exception of Trichiuridae and Gempylidae and the genus Scomber) and such other species of fishes exploited in tuna fishing in the Convention area as are not under investigation by another international fishery organization". The following is a list of by-catch species recorded as being ever caught by any major tuna fishery in the Atlantic/Mediterranean. Note that the lists are qualitative and are not indicative of quantity or mortality. Thus, the presence of a species in the lists does not imply that it is caught in significant quantities, or that individuals that are caught necessarily die. Diponegoro University, between March to December 2019 Methodology:DNA exctraction, amplification and molecular identifikasi of fish sampel. Yield of DNA supernatant transfered in an eppendeorf tube and stored in 4℃ for further process. PCR amplification. Part of Mithocondrial DNA COI (Cytochrome Oxidase subunit-I) gen was amplified using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method. Then matched up with GenBank database at NCBI using Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) analysis. Philogenetic tree was set using Neighbor-Joining method, Kimura-2 parameter model and 1,000 bootsrap replication. Some sequence from NCBI GenBank were inputed into philogenetic tree as comparison Results:Rhinaancylostoma as one of demersal shark rays catch from tropical shallow Java sea. Range of Total Length 73 – 200 cm and dominant Total Length catch 125 cm. Morphologyis characterised with three lines of spine thorn on the head, morphometry characterwide of head to TL ratio 0.77. DNA analysis had confirmed the specimen of AH2 as Rhinaancylostoma based on homological match up of sequence of GenBank database with reference accesion number KU721837.1 with length sequence of 665 bpand identical similarity of 99.84 % for specimen Accecion number LC 505461. -

The Results of this Work are Presented in this 2009 Atlas. December 2009 NOTE This Atlas reviews the fishing activity on fish stocks of relevance to Ireland that come under the EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The Atlas focuses on fishing opportunities (Total Allowable Catches – TACs), landings trends, fleet activity and the state of the resource in the waters around Ireland (principally ICES Sub-areas VI and VII). The Atlas also deals with fish stocks exploited by Ireland outside Sub-areas VI and VII. Every effort has been made to use the most up to date information available on fishing opportunities, landings, effort, and on the state of the resource base. The various ICES and STECF reports and databases together with various EU Regulations should be consulted for the definitive figures and regulatory articles. Annotated Checklist of the Fishes of Wake Atoll1
Annotated Checklist ofthe Fishes ofWake Atoll 1 Phillip S. Lobel2 and Lisa Kerr Lobel 3 Abstract: This study documents a total of 321 fishes in 64 families occurring at Wake Atoll, a coral atoll located at 19 0 17' N, 1660 36' E. Ten fishes are listed by genus only and one by family; some of these represent undescribed species. The first published account of the fishes of Wake by Fowler and Ball in 192 5 listed 107 species in 31 families. This paper updates 54 synonyms and corrects 20 misidentifications listed in the earlier account. The most recent published account by Myers in 1999 listed 122 fishes in 33 families. Our field surveys add 143 additional species records and 22 new family records for the atoll. Zoogeo graphic analysis indicates that the greatest species overlap of Wake Atoll fishes occurs with the Mariana Islands. Several fish species common at Wake Atoll are on the IUCN Red List or are otherwise of concern for conservation. Fish pop ulations at Wake Atoll are protected by virtue of it being a U.S. military base and off limits to commercial fishing.
