Actual- mente este tópico establece retos para la gestión e investigación, áreas en las cuales los institutos × × - te técnico al Ministerio de Ambiente y las Autoridades Regionales. Como parte de la misión del Instituto Humboldt y en el marco del Plan Operativo y el Plan trienal de Investigación PICIA, el Programa de Ciencias de la Biodiversidad y su línea de Evaluación de riesgo de vida Silvestre, presenta la publicación Plantas exóticas con alto potencial de invasión en Colombia, como resultado del trabajo colaborativo entre el Instituto Humboldt y el Instituto Amazónico de ÀƤ Ǥ Este nuevo producto evidencia la priorización y continua articulación temática entre las instituciones ×ǡ͖͔͔͜ × ±ǡ - tribuir a la toma de decisiones en diferentes escalas (local, nacional y global). También es un aporte a la implementación de acciones nacionales como el Plan Nacional para la prevención, control y ma- nejo de las especies introducidas, trasplantadas e invasoras, y responde a los compromisos interna- ǡ ȋ× ǦǦȌǤ × Ƥ - ǡ Ƥ × × ǡ- zado también en el Catálogo de la Biodiversidad Acuática exótica y trasplantada en Colombia (2012). De igual manera busca llamar la atención sobre temas relevantes y nuevas aproximaciones en la investigación y manejo de las invasiones biológicas, entre ellas la diversidad funcional y el análisis de vías y vectores de introducción y dispersión en el país. Este trabajo contó con la participación de 25 investigadores de nueve instituciones y la coordinación editorial entre el Instituto Amazónico de ÀƤ Ȃ Ǥ La publicación contiene seis capítulos distribuidos en tres secciones, la primera de las cuales incluye À ×- cas y normativa. La segunda sección está compuesta por los capítulos 3 y 4 en los cuales se analiza la diversidad funcional y las vías de introducción y dispersión, como aproximación a la investigación × ǡ - ferencia de las Partes del CDB, para el cumplimiento de metas internacionales entre ellas la meta 9 de Aichi. Finalmente la tercera sección la componen un capítulo sobre los contenidos en detalle del ͙͗Ƥ × ×ǡƤ - das por Cárdenas et al. (2010) y por el experto en Poaceas del Instituto de Ciencias Naturales Diego ǦǤǤ × × Ƥ ǡ para el manejo. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Biological invasions are deemed to be the second greatest cause of loss of biodiversity in terres- trial, marine and freshwater ecosystems, and the main cause in island territories. This topic currently poses challenges for management and research, areas in which research institutes contribute by generating information and articulating processes that serve as technical support to the Ministry of Environment and the Regional Authorities. As part of the mission of the Humboldt Institute and in the framework of the Operative Plan and the triennial Research Plan PICIA, the Program of Biodiversity Sciences and their line of Evaluation ǡ Ƥ exotic plants with high potential for invasiveness in Colombia, as a result of the collaborative work Ƥ Ǥ This new product gives evidence of the prioritization and continuous thematic articulation among the research institutions, which since 2008 have supported the production of knowledge across ǡ ơȋ ǡȌǤ It is also a support for the implementation of national action like the National Plan for the preven- tion, control and management of introduced species, transplanted and invasive, and responds to ǡ ȋ Biological Diversity- CDB-). ơ ǡ Ƥ ǡơ ȋ͖͔͕͖ȌǤ attention to relevant topics and new approximations in the research and management of biological invasions, among them functional diversity and the analysis of means and vectors of introduction and dispersion in the country. Though rediscovered in the 21st century at few localities in Poland, Austria, and Germany, it remains one of the rarest of European weevils, and its biology is unknown. We present the first descriptions of the larva and pupa of E. mariae, and confirm its saproxylic lifestyle. The differences and similarities between immatures of E. mariae and the genera Coryssomerus, Cylindrocopturus and Eulechriopus are discussed, and a list of larval characters common to all Conoderitae is given. The characters of adult postabdomen are described and illustrated for the first time for diagnostic purposes. An- tagonistic plant–pollinator interactions, in which flowers offer no rewards, are rare and concentrated in a few families including Araceae. In the latter, they involve trapping of pollinators, which are released loaded with pollen but unrewarded. To understand the evolution of such systems, we compiled data on the pollinators and types of interactions, and coded 21 characters, including interaction type, pollinator order, and 19 floral traits. A phylogenetic framework comes from a matrix of plastid and new nuclear DNA sequences for 135 species from 119 genera (5342 nucleotides). The ancestral pollination interaction in Araceae was recon- structed as probably rewarding albeit with low confidence because information is available for only 56 of the 120–130 genera. Bayesian stochastic trait mapping showed that spadix zonation, presence of an appendix, and flower sexuality were correlated with pollination interaction type. In the Araceae, having unisexual flowers appears to have provided the morphological precon- dition for the evolution of traps. Compared with the frequency of shifts between deceptive and rewarding pollination systems in orchids, our results indicate less lability in the Araceae, probably because of morphologically and sexually more specialized inflorescences.

Twenty-three species documented from the parkway are first records for the state. Of the nine capture methods used during the survey, Malaise traps were the most successful. Periods of adult activity, based on dates of capture, are given for each species. Relative abundance is noted for each species based on the number of captures. Sixteen species adventive to North America are documented from the parkway, including three species documented for the first time in the state. Range extensions are documented for two species. INTRODUCTION This study provides a preliminary list of the weevils of the superfamily Curculionoidea within the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) national park site in northern Virginia.

    The Genus Amorphophallus (Titan Arums) Origin, Habit and General Information The genus Amorphophallus is well known for the famous Amorphophallus titanum , commonly known as "Titan Arum".
