Commencement is a time-honored tradition, and we consider it a great privilege to laud our graduates — no matter the circumstances. While we eagerly await the opportunity to honor this occasion in person, we are pleased to recognize the spirit of our community and the academic accomplishments and dedication of our beloved candidates for graduation. For the Class of 2020, this milestone marks the culmination of years of study, hard work and careful preparation. It is also an occasion to remember the happiest and most fulfilling moments of your time as a student on this cherished campus — experiences you will carry with you throughout life. We’re grateful to you and to all of the parents and other supporters who have shown tremendous love and belief in you during your academic pursuits. Our students are the heart and soul of Ole Miss, and we take pride in their accomplishments and growth. The university remains committed to doing all it can to honor our graduates in person when it is safe for us to come together as a university community. And while we aren’t able to gather in the Grove and at other beautiful venues on our campus right now for traditional pomp and circumstance, we could not let our originally scheduled Commencement Day pass without recognizing the incredible achievements, character and spirit of this class of graduates. So much has been accomplished during your time here, and we can’t wait to see how you’ll continue to build your legacy. As you embark on your individual journeys and move the world forward, your relationship with this place will continue to shape your life and your understanding of the world, and we will continue to be here for you. As we all learned from Frank Everett many years ago, “the University gives a diploma, but one never graduates from Ole Miss.” Sincerely, Glenn F. Boyce, Chancellor Noel E. COMMENCEMENT University of Wisconsin-Whitewater December 19, 2020 More than 150 years ago, on April 21, 1868, the state’s second normal school opened its doors to the first class of 48 students and nine faculty members. A progressive spirit guided the development of the institution as it evolved from a normal school, which trained teachers for one-room schools, to Whitewater State Teachers College (1927), Wisconsin State College-Whitewater (1951), Wisconsin State University-Whitewater (1964) and as a member of the 13 four-year institutions in the University of Wisconsin System (1971). Today, UW-Whitewater is a leading comprehensive university serving approximately 11,842 full- and part-time students with 50 undergraduate majors, 13 master’s degree programs, one doctoral degree and one education specialist degree in the colleges of Arts and Communication, Business and Economics, Education and Professional Studies, Integrated Studies, and Letters and Sciences. The university awards more than 2,700 degrees every year. Throughout its history, UW-Whitewater has produced graduates who have actively contributed to the growth of the state and nation. Student learning is the paramount focus of the university’s programs and services. The university takes pride in its regional leadership, national presence and global vision. Many of its academic programs are among the best in the country. 1 Student Speaker Brian Martinez For Brian Martinez, becoming a Warhawk meant finding a place to plant roots. When he visited campus as a transfer student from another Wisconsin university, UW-Whitewater felt like an inclusive family, where everyone belonged — a place that put people first.

TUCSON ARIZONA THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA RECORD (USPS 650 -800) Vol. LXXII, No. 3 June, 1979 All colleges and departments establish certain academic requirements which must be met before a degree is granted. These requirements concern such things as curricula and courses, majors and minors, and campus residence. Advisers, directors, department heads and deans are available to help the student understand and arrange to meet these require- ments, but the student is responsible for fulfilling them. At the end of a student's course of study,if requirements for graduation have not been satisfied, the degree will not be granted. For this reason it is important for each student to acquaint himself or herself with all regulations, to remain currently informed throughout his or her college career and to be responsible for completing requirements.

Westminster Abbey A Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving to mark ANZAC Day Sunday 25th April 2021 Noon Crete, 1941. A happy meeting of troops of the Australian Imperial Forces and the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces on the island. 2021 marks the 80th anniversary of the Greece and Crete Campaigns of WW2. Image supplied by the Australian War Memorial. HISTORICAL NOTE This year marks the 106th anniversary of the landings on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 25th April 1915. The Gallipoli campaign exacted a heavy toll on both sides. Some 50,000 Allied troops from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Newfoundland, and India lost their lives. Including those wounded or evacuated for sickness, the total number of Allied casualties numbered around 250,000. The Turkish forces lost over 86,000 in addition to those wounded. Australian and New Zealand forces fought for the first time under a united command as the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, or, more famously, the ANZACs. Casualties at Gallipoli amounted to almost 9,000 Australians killed and in excess of 19,000 wounded. For New Zealand, near to 3,000 lost their lives and over 5,000 were wounded. These figures do not include those who died as a result of mental trauma in the years following. In both countries, ANZAC Day, 25th April, not only commemorates those first landings at Gallipoli, but also all the Australians and New Zealanders who have served their countries in time of conflict, and especially those who have given their lives in that service. After a year in which we have borne hardships of a very different kind from the sufferings which the ANZACs endured—the shocking effects of the worst global pandemic in a century—we take, as the theme for ANZAC Day 2021, “Remembrance.
