1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 The Rashtriya Vedavidya Pratishthan was established on 20th January, 1987, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, as an autonomous organisation and was registered under the Societies’ Registration Act, 1860. It was inaugurated on 10th August, 1987, by the then Minister for Human Resource Development. The main objectives of the Pratishthan are as under : (A) Preservation, conservation and development of the oral tradition of Vedic studies. (B) Study of the Vedas through Pathashalas as well as other means and institutions. (C) Creation and promotion of research facilities so as to bring out the rich wealth of knowledge contained in the Vedas and to relate it to the contemporary needs. (D) Collection of information and to arrange basic facilities to store relevant material and to disseminate and publish it in various forms using different resources. 1.2. The Objectives of the Pratishthan as given in the Memorandum of Association are appended at Annexure - I. 1.3. The office of the Pratishthan was shifted to Ujjain in May, 1993, and it was renamed as "Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Vedavidya Pratishthan".

2. AUTHORITIES OF PRATISHTHAN General Body, Governing Council and Finance Committee are the Authorities of the Pratishthan. 2.1 Its Establishment - The rules, regulations, various powers and functions for carrying out the affairs of the Pratishthan are vested in its Authorities. Hon'ble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India, is the Chairman of both General Body and Governing Council. The General Body is vested with the general power for reviewing and amending the policies and programmes of the Pratishthan. The Governing Council is the principal executive body of the Pratishthan and responsible for the general superintendence, direction and control of its affairs. 3 2.2. Under the chairmanship of Vice-Chairman, the Finance Committee is responsible for all matters regarding the management of the properties and investments, preparation of estimates for annual budget and statements of accounts and expenditure of the Pratishthan. 2.3. Under its general powers, the Pratishthan has constituted a Project Committee, which comprises of members of eminent scholars of Veda and related subjects for consideration of academic projects and programmes. 2.4. The Government of India reconstituted the General Body, Governing Council and Finance Committee for a term of five years on 05 th June, 2015. Partial amendment was issued on 10 th April, 2017. The composition of these bodies is given at Annexure II to VI.

3... OFFICERS OF THE PRATISHTHAN 3.1. Under the rules of the Pratishthan, Chairman is the head of the Pratishthan. The Chairman is nominated by the Government of India for a term of 5 years. He presides over the meetings of the General Body and Governing Council. Hon'ble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India, is the Chairman of the Pratishthan by virtue of the post. 3.2. There is also a provision of Vice Chairman under the rules to be nominated by the Chairman. He has to perform such duties and exercise such functions and has powers as the Chairman may specify generally or in any individual case. Professor Ravindra Ambadas Muley, Sanskrit Pragat Adhyayan Kendra, Savitribai Phule University, Pune, is nominated as Vice-Chairman of the Pratishthan with effect from 18.08.2016. 3.3. Under the rules there is a provision of appointment of Secretary, by the Government of India who is a full time salaried employee of the Pratishthan. He will be chief Academic and Executive officer as well as Head of administrative activities. The Secretary exercises general supervision and controls over the affairs of the Pratishthan and implements all decisions taken by the authorities of the Pratishthan. 3.4. Professor Viroopaksha V. Jaddipal is posted as full time Secretary of the Pratishthan by the Government of India w.e.f. 07.08.2017.

4... OTHER OFFICERS AND STAFF 4.1. In pursuance of the recommendations of its Internal Work Study Unit, the Education Department Vide its letter dated 14.08.1998 sanctioned one post each of Director, Programme Officer, Section Officer and Accountant as a part of interim organizanal structure of the Prathistan. The Governing Council of the Pratishthan

4 at its meeting held on 21.2.2000 approved the Byelaws for recruitment of all sanctioned posts of the Pratishthan. 4.2. 5... HEADQUARTERS 5.1. The headquarters of the Pratishthan is situated at Vedavidya Marg, Chintaman Ganesh, Post Jawasiya, Ujjain (M.P.).

6... CORPUS FUND OF PRATISHTHAN 6.1. At the time of establishment of the Pratishthan, Government of India had envisaged that Corpus Fund of Rupees Ten Crores would be placed at its disposal so that income from its investment may be utilized for financing various activities and programmes of the Pratishthan. A sum of Rupees Ten Crores was provided by the Government in installments by the end of year 1996-97 for this purpose. 6.2. According to decision of the Finance Committee at its meating held on 18-10-2001 the Cropus Fund was raised to Rs. 20.51 crore. 6.3. According to decision of the Finance Committee and Governing Concil dated 17-10-2016 a sum of Rs. 11.34 crore was added to the Corpus Fund. The present Corpus Fund in the year 2017-18 is Rs. 31.86 crore.

7. NEW APPROVED PROGRAMMES : 7.1. The Standing Finance Committee of the Government of India at its meeting held on 24.11.1998 had considered the proposal of the Pratishthan for enhancement of its Corpus Fund. After detailed discussion, the Committee was satisfied about the need and justification for enhanced requirement of funds by the Pratishthan for sustaining the on-going programmes and to introduce new academic programmes which are required to fulfill the objectives of the Pratishthan. 7.2. The Standing Finance Committee (SFC) decided to provide the additional requirement of funds by annual budgetary support from the Government. It was also emphasized by SFC that the Pratishthan's activities and programmes would not be allowed to suffer due to paucity of funds and the budgetary allocations would be protected. During the year 2017-18 the Ministry of HRD had allocated Rupees 32.70 crores as grant-in-aid to the Pratishthan for on-going programmes. With the additional grant of Rs. 3.07 Crores the total grant of Rs. 35.77 crores was received. 7.3. Formulation of comprehensive project reports and/or plan of action for implementation of new programmes continued during the year under report.

8. MEETINGS OF AUTHORITIES OF PRATISHTHAN AND IMPORTANT DECISIONS : 8.1. During the year under report, meetings of various Authorities / Bodies of the Pratishthan were held as per details given below : General Body : 12 July 2017 Governing Council : Two Meetings 06 July 2017 & 14 December 2017 Finance Committee : Three Meetings 22 April 2017, 06 July 2017 & 13 October 2017 Grants-in Aid Committee : Two Meetings 24 April 2017 & 12 October 2017 Project Committee : Two Meetings - 21 April 2017 & 12 October 2017 In addition two other committees were constituted as under : (1) Academic Committee - Secretary-Chairman, Five Vedic Scholars- one each from North, South, East, West and Central Region, one scholar of modern subject expert (including in languages) and one eminent educationist. Officer of the Pratishthan will be convener. (2) Examination Committee - Secretary - Chairman. Two Veda pandit from two regions, one expert of modern subject who should also be an expert of language, Controller of Examination - Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, one Education 6 expert. Officer in charge of the examination section in the Pratishthan will be the convener.

8.2. The important decisions taken by the above Bodies / Authorities are as follows :

GENERAL BODY : 24 th meeting of the general body of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan was held at New Delhi on 12 July, 2017, under the chairmanship of Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resorce Development Government of India. Hon’ble Minister of State, Shri Mahendra Pandey was also present as special invitee. (1) It was suggested that innovative plans be prepared to make studies in Veda Sanskrit, Oral Tradition of Veda and Vedic awareness more attractive and suitable to the needs of modern times,. (2) Pratishthan should translate and make available all the four Vedas in all indian languages. (3) Authorised the Secretary to constitute a Committee to examine and suggest ways and means of granting recognition to Veda Bhushan and Veda Vibhushan course conducted by Pratishthan as equivalent of 10 th and 12 th std for the purpose of aligning the pass out students with mainstream education system. The Committee would submit its report to the Ministry urgently. (4) The revised guidelines for Veda Pathashala and Guru-Shishya Parampara (GSP) Unit scheme were approved. (5) Approved 100 per cent enhancement in the rates of honorarium to teachers, scholorships of students and maintenance scholarships under the Veda Pathashala and GSP Unit scheme. (6) Establishment of Research Centre - A Research Centre would be established in the campus of Pratishthan for research in Vedas, publication of research journals, video recording of Veda intonation, preparation of Vedic directory, Vedic museum etc for the purpose of propagation of Vedas. (7) Establishment of Training Centre – A Training Centre would be established in the campus of the Pratishthan for conducting training programmes and workshops on regular basis.

7 (8) Arrangement of Veda Utsav - Once in a year a Veda Utsav will be organized in the campus of Pratishthan in which Veda Parayan and various other innovative programmes and competitions relating to Veda would be included. (9) The General Body unanimously approved for establishment of Rashtriya Adarsh Veda Vidyalaya (RAVV) in the Pratishthan campus, Ujjain.

GOVERNING COUNCIL : (1) C & AG audit report on the accounts of the Pratishthan for the year 2016-17 was accepted. (2) Seperate Audit Report for the year 2015-16 was accepted. (3) Revised rules of Veda Pathshala / Guru-Shishya Parampara (GSP) Unit of Pratishthan under which maximum age limit for admission of students in Veda Pathshala / GSP Unit was raised to 16 years were approved. Honorarium amount for Nityagnihotris and old Vedic pandits was increased from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 4000 per month. (4) The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 2017-18 between Pratishthan and Ministry was approved. (5) New syllabus for the courses of Veda Bhushan and Veda Vibhushan coducted by Pratishthan were approved. (6) Awards given by Pratishthan for the year 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and 16 awards for 2017 were approved. (7) Authorised the Secretary to give replecement teaches in Veda Pathashala / GSP units within the available budget. (8) On availability of Budget from Ministry starting of Adarsh Veda Vidyalaya (RAVV) in the campus of Pratishthan from 2018-19 was approved and was sent to H.R.D. Ministry for approval. (9) On availability of Budget proposal for starting of (a) Vedic research centre (b) Training Centre was approved and sent to H.R.D. Ministry for approval. (10 ) For financial help for working Veda Pathashalas / Guru-shishya Traditional units in Vedarth Vyakhyan was approved and sent to H.R.D. Ministry for approval.

8 (1 1) To constitute state wise inspection committee for aided Veda Pathshalas/ Units by the Pratishthan was approved and sent to Ministry of H.R.D. Govt. of India for approval. (11) Following new posts were approved and Recruitment Rules were sent to Ministry of H.R.D. Govt. of India for approval:- (1) Deputy Director 2 Posts (2) Assistent Director 3 Posts

FINANCE COMMITTEE : (1) Budget for 2017 - 18 was approved. (2) Certificate from C&AG for the accounts of Pratishthan for the year 2016 - 17 was accepted. (3) The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Pratishthan and Ministry for the year 2017 - 18 was approved. (4) The Minutes of Building committee and Project Committee dated 21-4-2017 and grant-in-aid committee dated 22-4-2017 were approved. (5) Recommendation of Building committee regarding maintenance of electricity regularly by C.P.W.D. in the campus of Pratishthan was approved. Finance Committee suggested to constitute a new building committee. (6) Finance committee recomended to purchase all articles / commodities through Government E-Marketing. (7) Finance committee recomended to appoint two additional consultants and two assistant staff through out-sourcing agencies. (8) Finance committee approved expenditure up to Rs.10 Lakhs to convert a type V building into guest house. (9) Finance committee approved to increase the salary of contractual employeess of Pratishthan from Rs. 13750/- to Rs. 17750/-. (10) Finance committee approved the Minutes of meetings of Project Committee and Grant-in-aid Committee held on 12-10-2017.

9 GRANTS -IN -AID COMMITTEE : (1) The amount was sanctioned for financial assistance to various Vedic Pathshalas and Guru-Shishya Parampara units being run by the Pratishthan during 2017-18. (2) Out of the students’ scholarship of Rs. 2000/-, Rs1500/- will be deducted for maintenance and Rs. 500/- will be deposited in the Deferred stipend account of student in the Bank. (3) Monthly grant to Veda pathashalas / Guru Shishya Parampara Units up to September, 2017 was approved. (4) Eleven affiliated G.S.P. Units were decided to convert in Veda Pathashalas which are as under - (1) Dharanidhar Ved Vidyalaya, Ujjain (M.P.); (2) Sourya Mandal Ved Vidyalaya, Ujjain (M.P.); (3) Shri Netrapal Gurukul Pathshala, Kanpur (U.P.); (4) Vedvidya Gurukul Variar Foundation, Mumbai (Mah.); (5) Gaurang Veda Vidyalaya, Kolkata (W. B.), (6) Gopal Ji Veda Pathathala, Cuttock (Odisha); (7) Veda Vidyalaya, Kenduzar (Odisha); (8) Gopal Chandra Veda Jyotirvigyan, Balasore (Odisha); (9) Shri Garudhwaj Veda Pathashala, Nemisharanya, Sitapur (U.P.); (10) Shri Swami Bhagwan Bhaskranand Devju Maharaj Sanskrit Veda Pathashala, Chitrakoot (U.P.); (11) Veda Bharti Veda Vidyalaya, Basar, Adilabad (A.P.). On availability of funds from Ministry these Pathashalas may be provided teachers for Sanskrit, Social Science, Mathematics and English. Additional budget will be required for 22 teachers. This proposal was placed before the authorized committees. (5) The proposal for starting 200 new units in Non-NER states and 40 new units in NER states was recommended to refer to the Ministry. (6) Release of monthly grants to Veda Pathashala / G.S.P. Units from October 2017 to March 2018 was approved.

10 PROJECT COMMITTEE : (1) Approval was given by the Project Committee for Vedic classes for All India and Regional Vedic Conferences, Vedic Seminars, Veda Gyan Saptah, Veda Work shops proposed to be organized during the year 2017-18. (2) Approval was given to constitute a committee for publication of books. (3) Considered the amendments in guidelines and rules of Veda Pathashalas and GSP units. (4) Recommended to constitute a committee of specialist scholars to prepare criteria and quality control for Veda Pathashalas and GSP Units. (5) Recommeded to organise Veda conference, establish Vedic museum, Veda branch protection project, Veda Vigyan Exhibition, Veda learning App; All India Veda Salaka, Veda Vikritipatha Vedantakshari, Veda Vedang work-shop etc. in the compus of Pratishthan, Ujjain. (6) Approval was given to organize Virat Gurukul Sammelan in the campus of Pratishthan.

9. ON-GOING PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES 9.0. Since its inception the Pratishthan has been carrying out activities for achievement of the objectives enunciated in its Memorandum of Association (MoA). During the year under report the following programmes and activities were carried out :-

9...1. FINANCIAL HELP TO VEDIC INSTITUTIONS 9.1.1. The objectives of the Pratishthan are to establish /take over/manage/provide assistance to Vedic Pathashalas, Research Centres to fullfill the objectives of the Pratishthan as enunciated in its MoA. Under this provision financial assistance is provided to the Veda Pathashalas and Guru Shishya Parampara (GSP) units through out the country. 9.1.2. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, had transferred the scheme of financial assistance to Veda Pathashalas and GSP Units for promotion of Vedic education along with budgetary allocation to the Pratishthan for implementation with effect from 1-4-1994. Under this scheme, honorarium to the teachers and stipend to students studying in institution / pathashalas are being provided by the Pratishthan. Presently, a fresh Veda Teacher gets honorarium of Rs. 11,000/- per month. A teacher having teaching experience of more than 5 years and more than 10 years gets honorarium @ Rs. 15,000/- per month and @ Rs. 17,000/- per month respectively.

11 9.1.3. A Veda student is paid stipend @ Rs. 2000/- p.m., out of which Rs. 1500/- p.m. is towards his maintenance which is paid to the management/Guru and Rs. 500/- is towards his scholarship which is deposited in the Joint Bank Account of the student with his parent/guardian. The management of the Pathashalas and the Gurus are expected to arrange for nutritious standard meal for students, if required, by providing necessary funds from their own resources for the purpose. It is also expected from the management of Pathashalas/Gurus to keep proper books of accounts of actual expenditure under the head “Maintenance of students” both in respect of grant-in-aid provided by the Pratishthan as well as funds utilized by them from their own resources and produce utilization certificate duly audited by the Auditors. 9.1.4. In the year under report (2017-18), the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, provided Rs. 31.57 crores as Grant-in-Aid for payment of honorarium of teachers of Veda Pathashalas/GSP Units and for scholarship of students. 9.1.5. As per prevailing practice, the Pratishthan invited applications from Vedic Pathashalas /Gurus, along with all relevant details regarding teachers and students. On scrutiny and satisfactory fulfillment of various conditions and requirements, grant was released to various Pathashalas/Units. 9.1.6. During the year 2017-18, Rs. 1501.38 lakhs were paid as honorarium and stipend to 293 teachers and 2832 students in 79 Veda Pathashalas in Non-NER states. 9.1.7. During the year 2017-18, Rs. 66.58 lakhs were paid as honorarium to 15 teachers and stipend to 126 students of 05 Veda Pathashalas located in the North-Eastern States. 9.1.8. A statement of financial assistance provided to Veda Pathashalas /GSP Units during 2017-18 showing quantum of assistance and the purpose for which it was granted, has been furnished at Annexure VII-A & Annexure VII-B.

9...2. EXAMINATION OF STUDENTS OF VEDA PATHASHALAS / GSP UNITS 9.2.1. Under the scheme of Preservation of Oral Tradition, 6389 students studying in Veda Pathashalas / GSP units affiliated to the Pratishthan appeared at the examination of Veda Bhushan (1st to 5th year) and Veda Vibhushan (6th year) examination in sixty centres throughout the country. Examination for 1205 students of VedaVibhushan final (7 th ) year was conducted in the MSRVVP HQ at Ujjain. Examination was conducted under the control of scholars from well known educational institutions like Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jagat Guru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University (Jaipur), Guwahati University (Guwahati), Vedic Sanshodhan Mandal (Pune), Lucknow University (Lucknow), 12 Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (New Delhi), Gurukul Kangri University (Haridwar), Allahabad University, Allahabad (U.P), Kashi Hindu Vishwavidyalaya (Varanasi), Sampurnanand Sanskrit University (Varanasi) and Shastra Vishwavidyalaya (Tanjavur). The Governing Council decided that students studying under various Gurus but are not financially aided by the Pratishthan can avail the benefits of appearing in the examination conducted by the Pratishthan by depositing Rs. 300/- towards examination fees.

9...3. SCHEME FOR PRESERVATION OF ORAL TRADITION OF VEDIC RECITATION 9.3.1. This scheme has been under operation since the Vth five year plan and was transferred by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to the Pratishthan for implementation since 1.4.1994. The objectives of this scheme are to provide special incentive for preservation of the oral tradition of Vedic recitation. Under this scheme, a Swadhyayi teacher is required to teach students at his residence or at any suitable place in his locality. The selected Swadhyayi teacher for the said purpose is required to possess proficiency at least in one Shakha of the Vedas. He is expected to provide special coaching to the students in recitation specially assigned to him for this purpose, so as to enable them to acquire proficiency in reciting the complete Samhita with Swara of the particular Shakha for which he is qualified. The duration of the course of Veda study is seven years. After successful completion of study for seven years, a certificate of Veda Vibhushan is awarded to Vedic student. 9.3.2 The parents of the students are required to execute an Indemnity Bond for Rs. 10,000/- with two sureties to the effect that they will not withdraw their wards during the entire course of study of seven years. The Guru/teacher is also required to give an undertaking to abide by the terms and conditions of the scheme. This provision has now been relaxed. 9.3.3. During the year 2017-18, financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 881.22 lakhs was provided to 265 teachers and 2357 Vedic students in GSP Units under the Vedic Saswar Yojana in Non-NER states. 9.3.4. During the year 2017-18, financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 69.32 lakhs was provided to 20 teachers and 161 Vedic students in GSP Units in North-Eastern states under the Vedic Saswar Yojana.

9...4 VEDIC CLASSES FOR ALL INTERESTED PERSONS 9.4.0. The Pratishthan formulated a scheme to run Vedic classes for all those persons who have an interest in Vedic studies and disseminate the relevant information, irrespective of their being ineligible / unqualified. Under this scheme, lectures are delivered on every Saturday and Sunday, totaling 100 lectures on special topics of 13 Vedas. The structure of syllabus includes various subjects which have been prescribed by the Pratishthan. However, during the year 2017-18 one for all Vedic classes has been permitted.

9.4.1. Vedic classes conducted in Vidyawardhini Charitable Trust, Borivali, Mumbai. Vedic Classes for All was organized by the Pratishthan from 20 th May, 2017 to 6th May, 2018, under the auspices of Vidyawardhini Charitable Trust, Borivali (West), Mumbai.

9.5. SEMINARS 9.5.0. In order to encourage scholars for research activities in Vedic studies, organizing seminars is one of the thrust areas of the Pratishthan. These Seminars are either fully or partially financed by the Pratishthan. During the year under report (2017-18), the various institutions have organized nine (9) all India Vedic seminars which are as follows :-

9.5.1. All India Vedic Seminar organized in Bhartiya Prachya Jyotish Sansthan - All India Vedic Seminar from 04 to 07 May, 2017 was organized in Jaipur under the joint auspices of Bhartiya Prachya Jyotish Sansthan and the Pratishthan. The International Seminar was organized, with the worship of Saraswati and Vedic Mangalacharan, on the subject “Contribution of Vedic Sanskriti and Jyotish Shastra in the Growth of the Nation.” In this programme Mahant Dwitiya Grahadhish Shri Wagish Kumar of Dwarkadhish Temple was saraswat guest and special guest was Shri Gulabchand Kataria, Home Minister of the Govt. of Rajasthan. The resplendent scholor honored by the President of India, Manishi Prof. Ramchandra Pandey and devoted worker of Vedic Literature Prof. Hridayaranjan Sharma, Prof. Arkanath Choudhary of Somnath University, Gujarat, Ex-Vice-Chancellor of Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Prof. Ramchandra Jha, Prof. Devnarayan Jha, Principal of Governemnt Shastri Sanskrit colleges Nathdwarad Dr. Harswarup Vashishstha and Chairman of the programme Prof. Mohanlal Sharma, Prof. Murlimanohar Pathak, Prof. Ravindra Nath Bhattacharya and approximately 100 renowned scholars, Acharya, Research Scholars were present. They have narrated their thoughts on the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. Thereafter, the established famous scholars in the field of Ved, Puran, Yajna, Karmakand have participated, in which Prof. Anand Purohit, Dr. Ramdev Dixit, Pt. Kailash Chandra Sharma, Dr. Dwijendra Nath Mishra, Shri Niraj Kumar Shukla, Master Scholar of Rigved Vedmurti Pt. Girdhari Mahapatra, Pt. 9.5.2. All India Vedic Seminar in Sathasamhita Regd. Office No. 2, Thiagavajapuvam, Mylopore, Chennai - All India Vedic Seminar was organized by the Pratishthan from 18 to 20 Aug., 2017 in Chennai in collaboration with Sathasamhita Regd. Office No. 2, Thiagarajapuram, Mylapore, Chennai.

9.5.3. All India Vedic Seminar in Shri Somnath Sanskrit University, Veravalam.

All India Vedic Seminar was organised from 11 to 13 September, 2017, in joint collaboration with Shri Somnath Sanskrit University, Veravalam. The seminar was on the subject "Karmakand Evam Sanskar Vigyan" and was held in Sandhyagiri Bapu Sanskrit Ved Vidyalaya, Samkhyali, Kutchh, Gujarat. The programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble Governor of Gujarat Shri O.P. Kohli. Prof. Ravindra Ambadas Muley, Vice Chairman of the Pratishthan was also present in the function. Ved Manglacharan was recited by the girl students of Samkhyali Ved Vidyalaya. Welcome song was sung by girl students of Sant Shri Sandhyagiri Bapu Sanskrit Ved Vidyalaya. Prof. Arknath Choudhary, Prof. Ravindra Ambadas Muley, Pujya Bhaskar Muni Pujya Bhagwatgiri Bapu were present on the stage. After inaugural session research papers were read out on Karmkand and Sanskar Vigyan. The scholars from various states presented their papers spreading over 12 sessions. Valedictory function was held on 13 Sept., 2017, at noon. In this Vedic Manglacharan was done by student of Samkhyali Ved Vidyalaya. Dignitaries on the dais lighted the lamp. Welcome song was sung by the students of Sant Shri Sandhyagiri Bapu Sanskrit Ved Vidyalaya. Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka Shri Wajubhaiwala was in the chair and Shri Vinod Bhai Chawada was the Chief Guest, Dr. Mahendra Bhai was the Saraswat guest. Pujya Shri Swami Shiv Jyotishanandgiri and Pujya Bhagawadgiri Bapu were also present.

9.5.4. All India Vedic Seminar in Sanskrit Department Sidho-Kanho-Virsa Vishwavidyalaya, Puruliya (W.B.) All India Vedic Seminar from 26 to 27 October 2017 was organised in joint collaboration with the Sanskrit Vibhag, Sidho-Kanho-Virsa Vishwavidyalaya, Purulia, West Bengal. The subject of the Seminar was "Vedic Wangmayasya Vividh Ayam" in which esteemed guests from different parts of India participated and delivered valuable lectures.

15 9.5.5. All India Vedic Seminar In Maharshi Yagyawalkya Sanskrit Vidya Pratishthan, Yagya Bhumi, Gangakhed, Parbhani. All India Vedic Seminar was organised from 19 to 21 December, 2017, at Gangakhed in joint collaboration with Maharshi Yagyawalkya Sanskrit Vidya Pratishtan, Yagya Bhumi, Gangakhed Parbhani.

9.5.6. All India Vedic Seminar in Nalbari College, Nalbari

All India Vedic Seminar was orgaised on 16 and 17 December, 2017, in joint collaboration with Nalbari College, Nalbari, Assam. The All India three-day Vedic Seminar was presided over by Prof. Kumar Bhaskar Varma, Vice Chancellor of Sanskrit Puratan Vishwavidyalaya, Gauhati (Assam). The Director of Shri Dwarkadheesh Sanskrit Academy and Shri Jayaprakash Narayan Dwivedi were chief speakers. The teachers of the GSP Units affiliated to the Pratishthan recited the mangalacharan. Dr. Basant Deo Goswami, Dr. Awani Kumar Bhagwati, Dr. Manjula Devi and other scholars presented their research papers and also delivered interpretations on various aspects of the subjects. This three-day National Seminar was compered by Dr. Upendra Nath Sharma with utmost efficiency.

9.5.7. All India Vedic Seminar at Darshanam, Nichalpur, Kamrup (Assam)

All India Vedic Seminar from was jointly organized from 4 th to 16 th January, 2018, in joint collaboration with Darshanam, Nilachalpur, Malegaon, Gauhati (Assam) and Pratishthan at Kamrup. The Seminar was inaugurated at Shri Madhavdeo International Auditorium and Assam Film Finance and Development Corporation Panjabari (Assam) by Hon'ble Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi. Prof. Rajnish Sharma of Delhi University was the chief speaker on the occasion. Prof. Kumar Bhaskar Verma, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Satyanarayan Chakravarti, Department of Sanskrit and Ancient Studies, Chaired the sessions. Prof. Sudeshna Bhattacharya, Dr. Vinima, Dr. Niranjan Jena, Dr. Upendra Deka and other scholars presented their research papers. Second day, the session was chaired by Dr. Ajay Jha from Delhi University and co-chaired byDr. Sipra Ray from Agartala. Dr. Biswajit Kumar, Dr. Rubi Kumari and other scholars presented their research papers. On the third day Dr. Rajesh Sarkar, Varanasi, Dr. Ajay Jha, Delhi, Dr. Vishwajit Kumar and Dr. Vina Gote and other scholars presented their research papers.

9.5.8. All India Vedic Seminar at Vigyan Bharti and Deccan College (Deemed University), Pune All India Vedic Seminar was organized by the Pratishthan in joint collaboration with Vigyan Bharti and Deccan College, Pune from 10 to 13 January, 2018.

9.5.9. All India Vedic Seminar at Pattabhiramshastri Vedmimansa Research Centre, Varanasi All India Vedic Seminar was organized jointly by Pattabhiramshastri Vedmimansa Research Centre, Varanasi, and Pratishthan from 13 to 15 Februrary, 2018.

9...6. VEDIC CONFERENCE 9.6.0. Vedic Conferences is one of the important activities of the Pratishthan for propagation of Vedic Study and knowledge in the country. Every year, All India Conference and other Regional Vedic Conferences are organized by the Pratishthan. All India Conference is of three-day duration including the day of inauguration and valediction. These conferences are organized in collaboration with renowned Vedic institutions, Universities, Vidyapeethas etc. Where no such institutions are available, Committee consisting of eminent scholars and prominent persons have been constituted for organizing such conferences. During the year under the review (2017-18), the Pratishthan organized three All India Vedic Sammelan and Seven Regional Vedic Sammelans. The details of Sammelans organized are given below :-

9.6.1. Three-day All India Vedic conference in Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Swarupanand Saraswati Nyay Vedant Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre, Varanasi, U.P. All India Vedic Conference was jointly organized by Pratishthan and Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Swarupanand Saraswati Nyay Vedant Mahavidyalaya and Research Committee, Varanasi from 2 nd to 4 th June, 2017, in Varanasi, U.P.

9.6.2. Three-day All India Conference in Shri Manik Prabhu Sansthan, Bidar (Karnatak) All India Vedic Conference from 14 th to 16 th November, 2017, was organized jointly by Shri Manik Prabhu Sansthan, Maniknagar, Bidar (Karnataka) and Pratishthan. Dr. Gyanraj Prabhu, Peethadhipati of Shri Manik Prabhu Sansthan said that preservation and study of Vedas is essential. He also said that Shri Manik Bi- centenary celebration ceremony was organized for 21 days in the Maniknagar village of the district. On the occasion he said that knowing one’s own self is Ved. True description of self is available in Vedas. He said eyes could not experience the self which was possible through the experience of Veda. Prof. Viroopaksha V. Jaddipal, Secretary of the Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan, said on the occasion that Sanskrit words are found in various languages. Pratishthan has been working for preservation of Vedas since 17 1987. Shri Anand Raj Prabhu, the Secretary of Shri Manik Prabhu Sanshtan said that it was impossible to imagine India without religion and Ved. Pt. Ganeshwar Shastri, Principal of Kashi Samved Vidyalaya, Dr. Hridayranjan Sharma, Ex-Head, Department of Veda, Kashi Hindu Vishwavidyalaya, Pandit Vishweshwar Shastri, Ved Shastri Pt. Manjunath Shastri and Asstt. Secretary of the Sansthan Chetan Raj, Praveen Guruji of Manik Prabhu Ved Vidyalay were present on the occasion.

9.6.3. All India Vedic Conference in Shri Sant Gyaneshwar Ved Vidya Pratisthan, Aurangabad (Maharashtra) - All India Vedic conference from 19 th to 21 st January, 2018, was organized jointly by Shri Sant Gyaneshwar Ved Vidya Pratisthan, Aurangabad and Pratishthan at Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

9.6.4. Regional Vedic Conference organized at Srinagar (Kashmir) by Jagadguru Shri Shankaracharya Swamigal, Kanchipuram. Regional Vedic Conference from, was jointly organised by Jagadguru Shri Shankaracharya Swamigal, Kanchipuram and Pratishthan in Shrinagar (Kashmir) 28 th to 30 th April, 2017. On the occasion of Ved Conference on Shankracharya mountain of Srinagar, Krishnayajurved Samhita recitation, Rigved Samhita Yajna, Rigved Samved recitation, Rigved Dash-Granth recitation, Chandi recitation special Yajna, Radhakalyan celebration etc. were organised. On 30 th April, 2017, (Vaishakh Shukla Panchami) on the occasion of Shankar Anniversary, Abhishekarchan parayan was performed at Shankaracharya mountain. Adi Shankaracharya Ghatt recitation was also organized. The programme ended with Ved recitation and Purnahuti. With the divine blessings of Shri Acharyaji, Shankar anniversary is being organized every year (Samvatsar) on Shankaracharya Hills of Shrinagar since 2012 with recitation of shlokas from different branches of various Vedas each year.

9.6.5. Regional Vedic Conference organized at Shri Dharmasangh Shiksha Mandal, Durgakund, Varanasi - A regional Vedic Conference was organized from 20th to 22nd July, 2017, jointly by Shri Dharmasangh Shiksha Mandal, Durgakund, Varanasi and Pratishthan in Varanasi.

9.6.6. Regional Vedic Conference held in Shri Dwarkadhish Sanskrit Academy, Dwarka. A Regional Vedic Conference was organised from 27th to 29 th August, 2017, jointly by Shri Dwarkadhish Sanskrit Academy, Dwarka and Pratishthan in Dwarka. The conference was inaugurated with the blessings and chairmanship of 18 esteemed Jyotipeethadhishwar Jagadguru Swami Shri Swarupanand Saraswati. Lighting of the lamp was done by the Chief guest Prof. Ravindra Ambadas Muley, Vice President, MSRVVP, Ujjain, special guest Prof. Arkanath Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, Shri Somnath Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, and Prof. Jayprakash Narayan Dwivedi, ex-Director Shri Dwarkadhish Sanskrit Academy, Dwarka. Dandiswami Sadanand Saraswati Maharaj graced the occasion with his interpretation of Veda for the benefit of all. While felicitating the guests with Shawl and angavastra he exhorted the Vedic scholars present on the occasion to produce more and more Vedic scholars in future. The second session of the first day was chaired by Shri Shatrughana Panigrahi, Veraval. The Vedic scholars recited the Prakriti and Vikriti patha of the four Vedas. On the second day of the conference Shri Vallabh Bhai Pathak and Shri Kuldip Purohit led the Vedic scholars in presenting the recitation of Chaturved. In the Sanskrit Kavita Sammelan, organized in the evening Prof. Jayprakash Narayan Dwivedi, Ex-director of Dwarkadhish Sanskrit Academy, Dr. Narsingh Bhai Bhagayat from Bhartiya Chaturdham Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Prof. Santosh Bhai Tripathi of Bhartiya Chaturdham Ved Vidyalaya, recited wholesome poems. The representative of MSRVVP, Shri Sanjay Shrivastava spoke on literature to the Sanskrit lovers. On the last day of the conference, session started at 9.30 A.M. under the chairmanship of Shri Dwarkapeethadhishwar Jagadguru Swami Shri Swarupanand Saraswatiji and in the gracious presence of Dandiswami Shri Sadanand Saraswati, Ex-Principal of Bhartiya Chaturdham Ved Vidyalaya, Shri Janak Upadhyay and Ex-Principal of Shri Shankaracharya Dr. Sanatkumar Upadhyay. The Vedic Scholars invited from various regions recited mantra of their own branches one after the other from Shaunak & Paippalad shakha of Atharv Ved, Madhyandini shakha of Shukla Yajurved, Taittiriya shakha of Krishna Yajurved, Ranayaniya & Kautham shakha of Sam Ved were recited. Thereafter, Vikrati patha was done which includes Pad, Kram, Jata, Ghan etc. Concluding session of the 3-day conference was compered by Prof. Jayprakash Narayan Dwivedi. Valediction of the three-day Ved Conference was done at 11.30 a.m. Prof. Devendranath Pandey of Shri Somnath Sanskrit University and Shri Sanjay Shrivastava representing the MSRVVP graced the valedictory function as speical guests. Prof. Devendra Pandey from Shri Somnath Sanskrit University delivered lecture on the importance of Shabdabrahm, Sphot and Dhwani and utilization of shabdabrahm to create avourable situation. Dandiswami Shri Sadanand Saraswati gave his blessings on behalf of Shardapeeth and expressed his goodwill with the hope that the Indian culture would progress day by day and not only in India but all over the world. Professor Jay Prakash Narayan Dwivedi expressed his gratitude for scholars who attended the conference and distributed the certificates. The programme ended with recitation of Shanti Mantra. 19

9.6.7. Regional Vedic Conference in Rang Ramanuj Ved Vidyalay, Anandpur Sahib, Ropar, Punjab. A Regional Vedic Conference from 3 rd to 5 th November, 2017, was organized in Ropar jointly by Pratishthan and Shri Rang Ramanuj Ved Vidyalaya, Shri Radha Madhav Mandir, Village Nichali Midwa, Anandpur Saheb, Ropar (Punjab).

9.6.8. Regional Vedic Conference in Gopal Jiu Ved Pathashala, Dharpur, Cuttack, Odisha. A Regional Vedic Conference was organized jointly by Pratishthan and Gopal Jiu Ved Pathashala from 23 rd to 25 th December, 2017, at Dharpur, Cuttack, Odisha. Vedic scholars from the states of Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura etc. attended the conference.. The conference was inaugurated on 23rd December at 10:00 A.M., in which esteemed guests like Mahant of Puri Jiyar Swamimath and Principal of Garudadhwaj Yagnavalka Vasudev Ved Pathashala, esteemed Mahant Indiraraman Das, ex-Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (Deemed University) and present Vice Chancellor of Kalinga Institute of Social Science University, Bhubanshwar, Ex-Head and Professor of Sanskrit Department, Utkal University Bhuvanshwar as saraswat guest, Prof. Diwakar Mohapatra Ex-Professor and Head of Ved Department, Puri, were present and discussed the store-house of wisdom hidden in the Vedas. In the session for knowledge and wisdom, the Vedic scholars presented their research papers. The three-day conference was divided in four parts. In the first part the Veda Pandits rendered Samhita and Vikriti path of the various branches of Vedas. In the second part on knowledge and wisdom about 30 research papers were presented on cultural, social, economic and philosophical aspects of Vedas. Among the readers of research papers, Vice-Chancellor of Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University Prof. Chandrakant Shukla, Professor & Head of Sanskrit and Sahitya faculty, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi, Prof. Bhagirathi Nandi, Ex-Head of Sanskrit Deptt., Ranchi University, Prof. Meena Shukla, Prof. Manoranjan Senapati of Sanskrit Deptt. Utkal University, Professor of Sahitya Deptt., Shri Satyanarayanad acharya of Tirupati Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Head of Dharmashastra, Prof. Madhavchandra Panda of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Principal of Vikramdeo Adarsha Sanskrit College, Medinipur. Dr. Devipad Rath, Head, Nyaya Deptt., Dr. Jaymanikya Shastri of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri and Dr. Dadan Upadhyay of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi etc. read their research papers. In third part on 23.12.2017 Dr. Nareshchandra Das, Principal of Neelachal Narayan Ayurved Chatushpathi delivered lecture on the subject "Vedanam Sar Ishah" and on 24.12.2017 Ex-Professor of Sanskrit Department, Utkal University 20 Prof. Raghunath Panda delivered lecture on the subject " Vedo ka Vistar" for spreading the Vedas. Professor Kishorechandra Padhi, Ex-Vice-Chancellor, Jagannath Sanskrit University and Prof. Brijkishore Swayi, Ex- Professor & Head, Drama Shastra Department Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University etc. presided over the sessions of lectures on knowledge. In the fourth part, cultural programmes on Dashawatar Dance based on Geetgovinda of Jay Dev, Dance on Devitatva and classical Odissi dance were performed by Rainbow Nritya Vidyalaya, Mahanga, Cuttack. On 25.12.2017, the concluding session was presided over by Professor Chandrakant Shukla. Vachaspati Shri Sharatkumar Kar, Ex-head, legislative assembly Bhubaneshar (Odisha) was saraswat guest. Participating in the conference Guest of Honour Prof. Prafullakumar Mishra, Ex-Vice-chancellor North Odissa University, Baripada and present Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Agriculture University, Samastipur (Bihar) emphasized the importance of protection of the Vedas and their correct recitation and threw light on the scientific aspects of wisdom inherent in the Vedas.

9.6.9. Regional Vedic Conference at Punyashloka Ahilya Sanskrit Sansthan, Indore (M.P.) A Regional Vedic Conference was organized by the Pratishthan from 24 th to 26 th December, 2017, at Indore in collaboration with Punyashloka Ahilya Sanskrit Sansthan, Indore. Chief guest for the conference was Prof. S.P. Gautam, M.P. Public Service Commission. Chairman was Prof. Ramesh Chandra Panda, Vice- Chancellor, Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic Vishwavidyalaya, Ujjain, Special Guest was Prof. Viroopaksha V. Jaddipal, Secretary, Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain. Prof. Mithila Prasad Tripathi, President of the Sansthan addressed the conference. Shri Ramesh Chandra Shukla, Secretary of the Sansthan compered the programme and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Neelabha Tiwari, Treasurer of the Sanstha. The Second session started at 2:30 P.M and was chaired by Dr. Tulsidas Paroha, Head of the Department, Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Ujjain. Dr. Devendra Mishra, Lal Bahadur Shstri Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, New Delhi was present on the occasion as subject expert. Dr. Laxminarayan Pandey, Bhopal, Dr. Piyush Tripathi, Ujjain, Dr. Santosh Pandya, Ujjain, presented their research papers. In the third session on popular lectures was chaired by Prof. Kamlesh Choksi, Senior Professor, Gujarat University. Chief speaker was Prof. Hariprasad Pandey from Baroda, and the welcome address was delivered by Prof. Mithila Prasad Tripathi, President of the Sanstha. On second day in the first session Vedic recitation from Ranayani and Kauthum shakha was done by the Sam Ved scholars from Rajasthan and Gujarat. Dr. Kirti Kumar Tripathi Rewa was chairman of the conference. Dr. Radheshyam Tripathi, Indore, Shri Santosh Mishra, Shri Dilip Pandey Rewa, Dr.Tulsiram Dube, Indore presented their research papers. In second session recitation of both the 21 branches of Samved was done. The session was chaired by Prof. Shobha Jain, Bherulal Patidar Govt. College Mhow. Dr. Vikas Sharma, Ujjain, Dr. Brajendra Pandey Shahdol, Dr.Kirti Kumar Tripathi Rewa, Dr. Dilip Pandey, Satna, Dr. Ramashankar Tiwari, Indore, Dr. Laxminarayan Pandey, Bhopal and others presented their research papers. In third session presidential address was given by senior scholar Prof. Prabhunath Dwivedi, Mahatma Gandhi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. The session was compered by Dr. Ganesh Dwivedi and President of the Sanstha Dr. Mithila Prasad Tripathi welcomed the guests. On third day the scholars of Samved from Gujarat and Rajasthan recited from both the branches. The seminar session was chaired by Prof. Nalini Joshi, Head, Sanskrit Department, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. Dr. Akhilesh Dwivedi, Ujjain, Dr. Sankalp Mishra, Ujjain, Dr. Neelabh Tiwari, Odisha, presented their research papers on the occasion. The second session was the valedictory session of the three-day Regional Conference which was started with Mangalacharan by recitation from both Ranayani and Kauthum shakha of Sam Ved. Chairman of Lucknow Sanskrit Sansthan Prof. Vachaspati Mishra was the chief guest. Ex-Chairman of Patanjali Sanskrit Sansthan Dr. Manmohan Upadhyay chaired the progamme, welcome address was delivered by Shri Kailash Kusumakar of Das Bagichi Trust, by Shri Sankhala and Shri Panigrahi. Vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Neelabh Tiwari and Shri Lakhan Pathak compered the session. Inaugural and valedictory speech was delivered by Secretary of Sansthan, Shri Ramesh Shukla.

9.6.10. Regional Vedic Conference at Shri Ved Bharti Peeth Ved Vidyalayam, Mudal, Adilabad. A Regional Vedic Conference from 16 th to 18 th February, 2018, was held jointly by Shri Ved Bharti Peeth Ved Vidyalayam, Mudal, Adilabad and Pratisthan.

9.6.11. Regional Vedic Conference of Shri Venkateshwar Vedic University, Alipur, Tirupati A Regional Vedic Conference from 2 nd to 4 th March, 2018, was organized jointly by Shri Venkateshwar Vedic University Alipur, Tirupati and Pratishthan.

9.6.12. Ved Conference in Ujjain Ved Conference from 27th to 29th March, 2018, was organized by the Pratishthan in Ujjain. On the first day Kamyeshthi Anushtan Mahayajna was conducted by Bahu Somayaji Dixit Yogyeshwar Rangnath Selukar, Gangakhed. After the Yajna Bahu Somayaji Dixit donated yajna patras to Pratishtan for Museum. Inaugural ceremony was chaired by Prof. Ravindra Ambadas Muley. Special guest was 22 Somayaji Acharya Sudhakar Dixit (Kulkani), Chief guest was Bahu Somayaji Dixit Yogyeshwar Rangnath Maharaj Selukar and special speaker was Dr. Kedarnath Shukla. In the brain-storming session on RigyajussamatharvVed the tradition of study and teaching of Rigved in Madhya Pradesh, chief guest was Shri Ramchandra Lokare, Rigvedacharya, Indore. Special guest were Pandit Vasudeo Purohit Indore, Pandit Anand Shankar Vyas, Ujjain and Special speaker was Dr. Bhagwatilal Rajpurohit. Prof. Ramesh Chandra Panda was the Chairman. On the second day Vedantakshari was organized. Thereafter in the brain- storming session of study and teaching tradition of Yajurved in Madhya Pradesh, chief guest was Dr. Balkrishan Sharma, Ujjain, special guest was Dr. Mohan Gupt, Ujjain. Guest speaker was Dr. Sadanand Tripathi. Dr. Kedar Narayan Joshi was chairman of the session. In second session on study and teaching tradition of Samved in Madhya Pradesh, chief guest was Prof. Mithilaprasad Tripathi, Ujjain, Special guest was Shri Shrikrishna Palashkar, Indore and guest speaker was Dr. Vinayak Pandey, Indore. Shri Devkaran Sharma, Ujjain, presided. On third day in the session on study and teaching tradition of Atharv ved, chief guest was Shri Vibhash Upadhyay, Ujjain, Special guest was Dr. Santosh Pandya, guest speaker was Dr. Narayan Hosmane, Jaipur and the session was chaired by Prof. Sheel Sindhu Pandey, Ujjain. In the concluding session Dr. Satya Narayan Jatiya was the chief guest, special guest was Prof. Chintamani Malviya, Ujjain, Saraswat guest was Shri Krishnakant Sharma, Ujjain and Shri Pradeep Guru, Ujjain was present. The session was presided by Prof. Viroopaksha V. Jaddipal, Secretary of Pratishthan, Ujjain.

9.7..7..7. WORK SHOP 9.7.0. Veda and Sanskrit hold a very important position in the programmes of Pratishthan. The workshops are organized by the Pratishthan for spread of study and wisdom of Sanskrit and of Ved throughout the country. During the year under report (2017-18) three workshops were organized successfully. These are as under : -

9.7.1. Ved and Sanskrit workshop by Sanskrit Bharti, Indore. Ved and Sanskrit workshop was organized from 24 th to 29 th December, 2017, jointly by Sanskrit Bharti Malwa Prant and Pratishthan. In this workshop the scholars of Kerala, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Hariyana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,

23 Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha etc. (Twenty) states have received training for publicity of Ved & Sanskrit in their own states. In the inaugural function of the workshop Dr. Chintamani Malviya, Member of Parliament, Bharti Dr. Bhakta Vatsal Sharma (Una, Himachal Pradesh), All India President of Sanskrit and Dr. Viroopaksha V. Jaddipal, Secretary of Prathishthan were present. The workshop was also graced by the special presence of Dr. Gopbandhu Mishra, Kashi Hindu Vishwavidyalaya, All India Secretary Sanskrit Bharti Shri Shrish Devpujari, great educationist retired Professor of Delhi University Prof. Chandkiran Saluja and scholar in the field of Sanskrit Dr. Vishwas. The scholars participated in deliberations and discussions in the workshop. At the end of the workshop certificates were distributed jointly by Pratisthan and Sankrit Bharti.

9.7.2. Proggramme organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. Workshop for orientation of Sanskrit teachers was conducted in MSRVVP campus from 18 th to 30 th January, 2018 jointly by Pratishthan and Rashtriya Sanskrit Sanshthan, New Delhi.

9.7. 3. All India Ved-Vedang Work-Shop

Ten-day All India Ved-Vedang workshop was organized in Ujjain from 21 st to 30 th March, 2018. In the inaugural function chief guest was Prof. K.E. Devnathan, Tirupati, Special guest was Prof. Ramesh Chandra Panda and Prof. Virupaksha V. Jaddipal Secretary of the Pratishthan presided over the session. In the concluding session Prof. Mithila Prasad Tripathi, Ujjain, was chief guest and vice president of the Pratishathan Prof. Ravindra Ambadas Muley presided.

9.8..8..8. VED GYAN SAPTAH CEREMONY

9.8. 0. Prathishthan organises Ved Gyan Saptah in various parts of the country for creating awareness about the wisdom and values inherent in the Vedas, spreading Vedic knowledge and Indian culture. Under this programme renowned scholars and institutions are given financial grants for organizing Ved Gyan Saptah for undertaking activities useful for public awareness of the Vedic knowledge and wisdom through lectures of Vedic scholars, display of pictures, charts etc., organizing exhibitions, telecasting or broadcasting Vedic messages, mantras etc. through television and radio, organizing competitions on Vedic recitations, felicitation of Vedic scholars and other similar activities. During the year under report (2017-18), 3 Ved Gyan Saptah ceremonies were organized which are as under -

Ved Gyan Saptah organized by Amitaranjan Shankaribala Ved Vidya Mandir, Hooghly A Ved Gyan Saptah was organized from September 30 th to October 6 th , 2017, jointly by Amitaranjan Shankaribala Ved Vidya Mandir Hooghly (W.B.) and Pratishthan in A.S. Ved Vidya Mandir. On the first day of the ceremony on 30.09.2017 a procession was organized and Ved Guru Shri Satinath Mishra and his disciples recited the Ved mangalacharan. Thereafter, the coordinator of the programme Dr. Adhikarya addressed the masses present on this occasion. Pandit Ratan Kumar Chakrawarti also addressed the gathering. Second day programme on 01.10.2017 started with Mangalacharan by Shri Satinath Mishra and his disciples. Shri Sushil Muaram Chakravarti delivered a speech on "Brahman Parichaya". On the third day of the programme on 02.10.2017 Shri Shyamaprasad Adhikari delivered a lecture on the subject "Aranyak Parichay". On fourth day on 03.10.2017 Shri Haridarshan Chakravarti delivered a lecture on the subject "Upnishad Parichay". On fifth day on 04.10.2017, Asstt. Prof. Basanti Adhikari delivered a lecture on the subject "Vedas and Science". On sixth day on 5.10.2017, lectures were delivered on importance of Vedic knowledge in Indian culture. On seventh day on 06.10.2017 modern subject teacher Mayna Chatterji delivered the lecture on the subject "Ved and Social Life". On the last day in second session Vedic scholar Shri Balram Adhikari was honored for his study of Samved for 20 years and his dedication to Veda. Shri Balaram Adhikari addressed the gathering and offered vote of thanks. The programme ended at 5.00 p. m. in the evening.

9.8.2. Ved Gyan Saptah organized by Shriji Takniki Evam Vanijya Prashikshan Sansthan. A Ved Gyan Saptah was organized from 29th Oct. to 4th Nov. 2017, jointly by Shriji Takniki Evam Vanijya Prashikshan Sansthan and Pratishthan in Ujjain. Vedas have no originator and are shruti texts which are passed down from generation to generation. Originally there were about 1100 branches of Vedas. But presently only 13 branches are alive. Therefore,our endeavour should be to protect them. After destruction of all creation only Ved will bring the path of rebuilding. Shriji Taknini Evam Vanijya Prashikshan Sansthan organized the Ved Gyan Saptah for publicity of Ved, Religion and Culture. On the first day of the programme in Shri Mahakaleshwar Vedic Pathashala and Research Centre general awareness on Vedas was provided to the gathering. Prof. Viroopaksha V. Jaddipal, Secretary, MSRVVP, spoke about the preservation of the Vedas. The entire programme was conducted under the guidance of Shri Vibhas Upadhyay. On second day the programme was held at Nalanda Academy. On the third day the programme was organized at Sant Meera Girls School wherein a lecture was organized on the subject of women’s place in Vedic tradition. On the fourth day a lecture was delivered by Dr. Sankalp Mishra on the subject of various 25 branches of Veda at Govt. Utkrisht Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya. Dr. Bharat Vyas presided over the programme. On fifth day the programme was held at Saraswati Vidya Mandir Mahakalpuram in which Dr. Puja Upadhyay delivered a lecture. As a guest speaker, internationally famous painter and activist, loving son of nature Shri Satyanarayan Mourya "Baba" explained the subject of Veda in his inimitable style. On the last day of Ved Gyan Saptah on 04.11.2017, a huge procession of “Prabhat Pheri” was organized at 7 a.m. The Prabhat Feri covered the main roads of the city and ended in Mahakal Pravachan Hall, where Dr. Anoop Kumar Mishra from MSRVVP and Vedic scholar Kinkar Namanand Maharaj delivered their speeches.

9.8.3. Ved Gyan Saptah at Prof. Nandkishor Pandey Smriti Sansthan Ved Vidyalaya, Bargadi, Lucknow, U.P. A Ved Gyan Saptah was organized jointly by Pratishthan and Prof. Nandkishore Pandey Smriti Sansthan Ved Vidyalaya, Lucknow from 01.12.2017 to 07.12.2017. On December 1, Prabhat Pheri Procession was taken out. Thereafter, lecture session on the subject "Ved Evam Jyotish" was organized with lighting of the lamp, recitation of Vedic Manglacharan, felicitation of guests and lecture by Dr. Anil Porwal on the subject. On 02 December, 2017, Pt. Shri Vikas Dixit delivered a lecture on the subject "Vedic Mathematics". On 03 December, Prof. Ram Murti Chaturvedi delivered lecture on the subject "Vedic Science". On 04 December, Pt. Shri Kashinath Gore delivered the lecture on the subject "Importance of Ved in Modern Era". On 05 December, Acharya Govind Kumar Sharma delivered lecture on the subject "Vedic Study". On 06 December Dr. Upendra Tripathi delivered a lecture on the subject "Ved Evam Upanishad". On all the days lighting of the lamp before Devi Saraswati, Vedic Mangalacharan and felicitation of guests was done before the start of lecture session. On the concluding day on 7th December, Prabhat Pheri was organized in the city. Thereafter, a lecture was delivered by Dr. Niraj Tiwari on the subject "Vedic Karmakand". In addition to it many competitions were organized to generate awareness about Ved amongst the students of nearby areas to make the programme interesting. Thee Ved Gyan Saptah ended thus ended in a positive note.

9.9.9.99. 999.... PUBLICATION

9.9.0. Publication is an important programme of the Pratisthan to fulfill its objectives. The out of print and rare texts relating to Vedic literature are reprinted and published under this programme. Printing of critical editions and translation into various languages of certain texts, monographs on important topics and report of research work done by fellows of the Pratishthan are also undertaken. In addition the research papers presented at the seminars, workshops and proceedings of these are also taken up for publication.

In order to promote new research activities Pratisthan publishes an International Research Journal "Ved Vidya" in which good selected essays related with Veda are published in Hindi, English and Sanskrit languages so that its advantage may be availed of by the Vedic scholars as well as by general public. This research journal contain ISSN No. 2230-8962 and is a UGC recognized refereed research journal.

9.11.0. The Pratishthan has its own well maintained library at Ujjain, and at present it has got about 5000 books on its shelves on Vedic literature and all subjects. The collection is in the process of being computerized.

9.12.0. In order to preserve and conserve the oral tradition of Vedic recitation, a directory of Vedic scholars of different branches has been prepared. In fact this Vedic Directory has been demanded by Vedic Scholars since long.

999.9...11113333.... FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO AGED VEDPATHIS

9.13.0. During the year 2017-18, grant of Rs. 5.50 Lakhs to the Vedpath Nidhi Trust, Chennai as Pratishthan's contribution under the scheme of assisting Vedic Pandits has been provided. The Vedpath Nidhi Trust provides grant to the aged Veda Pandits as per criteria and rates as under- Each Vedapathi above the age of 65 years who has done study/teaching of any branch and expert in Sanskrit and Shastra are being given help of Rs. 2000/- P.M.

9.13.1. Financial assistance is given to old vedpathi aged above 65 years and handicap vedpathis. During the year 2017-18, 24 old and handicapped Vedpathis were provided grant of Rs 9.60 Lakhs at the rate of Rs. 2000/- P.M. to each. From 01.04.2017 to 31.07.2017 the amount was @ Rs. 2000/- and from 01.08.2017 to 31.03.2018 the amount was @ Rs. 4000/- .

999.9...11114444.... FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO NITYAGNIHOTRIS

9.14.0. The Pratishthan has formulated a scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs. 2000 P.M. each for those Nityagnihotris who along with their wives perform and follow traditional Vedic recitations with Agnyadhan as per procedure and cow worship at their homes Agnihotra Anushthan regularly. The objective of providing financial assistance is to reimburse partially the expenses being incurred on performing Agnihotra Anushthan by the Agnihotris regularly. Preference has been given to those Pandit/Vedpathis who are aged and perform / Agniotra regularly.

9.14.1. During the year 2017-18 financial grant of Rs. 17.60 Lakh was paid by the Pratishthan to 44 Nityagnihotris at the rate of Rs. 2000/- P.M. from 01.04.2017 to 31.07.2017 and @ Rs. 4000/- P.M. from 01.08.17 to 31.03.2018.

999.9...11115555.... TAPE RECORDING OF VEDIC RECITATION

9.15.0. One of the important activity of the Pratishthan is to preserve the oral traditional of various branches of Veda's recitation through Tape Recording, C.D./D.V.D.. There is a centre of tape recording at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Tirupati. During the 1992-93 and 1993-94 an arrangement was made by the Pratishthan with assistance of Vidyapeeth to make a complete duplicate set of Vedas’ recitation. Duplicate tapes of all the tapes available with Tirupati Vidyapeeth have been made. The Pratishthan has a collection of audio-video tapes of recitation of various branches of Vedas in various styles and traditions. Audio CD of 70 hours in MP-3 form is available with Pratishthan for the benefit of scholars. The details of C.D./D.V.D. are given in Annexure X. Now the newly constructed premises of the Pratishthan is ready and it is proposed to set up a studio for recording purposes soon.

9.16.0. The Pratishthan has a correspondence course "Ghar Baithe Vedon Ki Shiksha". Those who pass the examination are awarded "Ved Nipun" certificate under this scheme. Syllabus has been formulated so as to reach the basic awareness in four Vedas, Vedang, Brahmin Granth, Aranyak, Upnishad, importance and form of Indian culture, Indian Philosophy to the general public. To make the syllabus interesting, Vedic stories have been included and given at appropriate places. Presently there are 564 participants in this correspondence course conducted by Prathishthan. 28

999.9...11117777.... CONDUCT OF VEDIC REFRESHER COURSE FOR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF VEDIC TEACHERS

Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain conducts refresher course for Vedic teachers of all Ved Pathashalas affiliated to the Prathishtan for quality improvement and skill development and also to bring uniformity in Vedic education. Vedic teachers have been availing the benefit by participating in this course.

9.17.1 During the year 2017-18, IXth refresher course was organized in the Ujjain Office of Pratishthan from 30.05.2017 to 20.06.2017. During the refresher course programme a number of renowned Vedic and Sanskrit scholars were invited to deliver lectures. 32 Vedic teachers attended the refresher course training.

9.19.19.189.1 888.... VISIT OF DIGNITARIES IN PRATISHTHAN

Shev Mahotsav was organised in Ujjain from 5 to 7 January, 2018, in which renowned scholars from all over India and ex-officials and scholars of the Pratishthan particiated. On this great occasion a workshop on vision document was organized in the office of the Pratishthan. Prof. Shrikishore Mishra, Varanasi, Prof. Ravindra Nath Bhattacharya, Kolkata, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, New Delhi, Prof. Munulata Sharma, Varanasi, Dr. Kailashnath Tiwari , Etawa, Acharya Moreshwar Ghaisas Guruji, Pune, Dr. Om Prakash Pandey, New Delhi, Pt. Durgadas Ambadas Muley, Aurangabad, Dr. Upendra Kumar Tripathi, Varanasi, Acharya Shridhar Adi, Gokarna, Dr. Arunkumar Mishra, Haridwar and others participated and exchanged their views.

A meeting was organized on 27 March, 2018, in connection with the preparation for organising Virat Gurukul Sammelan in the premises of Pratishthan in April, 2018, in which about 100 participants had participated.

30 Annexure - I OBJECTIVES OF THE PRATISHTHAN

In order to fulfil the following objectives, the Pratishthan has been established :- 1. To preserve, conserve and develop the oral tradition of Vedas, for which the Pratishthan will undertake various activities such as to provide financial assistance to traditional Vedic institutions and scholars/Vedapathis, provide fellowships/ scholarship, undertake preparation of audio/video tapes, etc. 2. To foster the tradition of intonation and recitation through learned scholars and Pandits. 3. To encourage and ensure involvement of dedicated students in higher research in the field. 4. To provide research facilities to those students having background of Vedic knowledge and to equip them with sufficient scientific and analytical outlook, so that modern scientific thoughts contained in the Vedas, particularly disciplines of mathematics, astronomy, meteorology, chemistry, hydraulics, etc. should be linked with modern science and technology so that a rapport between them and modern scholars could be established. 5. To establish Vedic Pathashala and research centres, takeover, manage or supervise throughout the country to fulfil and maintain any objectives of the Pratishthan. 6. To revive and administer such of the endowments and trusts as are dysfunctional, or aren’t run properly. 7. To pay special attention to those Shakhas which are extinct and for which human repositories can be identified, and to prepare a detailed list of Pandits related to these Shakhas. 8. To ascertain the present status of affairs of oral traditions in respect of Vedas, particularly intonation and recitation peculiar to various regions, institutions and maths in the country. 9. To collect information that whether original state of textual material, printed manuscripts, texts, commentaries and interpretations, etc. of the various oral traditions of Vedic Shakhas are available or unavailable. 10. To collect information about the present state of recordings, both audio and visual, available in the country. 11. To undertake research, in the interest of advancement of scientific knowledge, in Vedic texts and Vedic Literature from the earliest time of Vedic period up to the present day including areas of science, agriculture, technology, philosophy, yoga, education, poetics, grammar, linguistics and Vedic tradition and to provide for library, research equipment, research facilities, supporting staff and other technical manpower;. 12. To undertake all such activities as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any one of the objectives of the Pratishthan, in accordance with the Memorandum of Association.
