Directions to KNUE Getting To KNUE Cheongju Bus Jochiwon Terminals Train Station KNUE BY TRAIN Gyeongbu line: • Busan and Daegu to Jochiwon: Saemaul 1002 (departs Busan at 6:35am, arrives Jochiwon at 10:02am); Mugunghwa 1204 (departs Busan at 5:40am, arrives Dong Daegu at 7:24am, finally arrives Jochiwon at 9:57am); Mugunghwa 1206 (departs Busan at 6:45, arrives Jochiwon at 10:51). • Seoul to Jochiwon: Saemaul 1031 (departs Seoul at 8:25, arrives Jochiwon at 9:49); Mugunghwa 1203 (departs Seoul at 7:20, arrives Jochiwon at 8:54); Mugunghwa 1205 (departs Seoul at 8:45, arrives Jochiwon at 10:24). • There is also the option of taking the KTX to Daejeon and then taking the regular train to Jochiwon. Honam line: The best option on this line is getting to Daejeon via KTX and then taking the train to Jochiwon (or bus to Cheongju ). • Daejeon to Cheongju/Jochiwon: Mugunghwa 1705 (departs Daejeon, arrives Cheongju 9:49); Saemaul 1002 (departs Daejeon at 9:39, arrives Jochiwon at 10:02); Mugunghwa 1705 (departs Daejeon at 9:10, arrives Jochiwon at 9:38); Mugunghwa 1204 (departs Daejeon at 9:39, arrives Jochiwon at 9:57) From Jochiwon Train Station, take bus 502 or 511 to Miho (10 mins),then 1~2 km walk to KNUE. BY BUS Frequent and regular express buses arrive in Cheongju from all major centers in Korea, including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, etc. There are also regular inter-city buses. BY PLANE Flights from Jeju-do and other parts will arrive at the Cheongju International Airport, a short distance outside of Cheongju and a quick taxi trip to the bus terminals. Continue West watch for the signs it is about 2 kilometers past the I.C. You will want to turn left at the sign and enter Miho. 1.b) From Jochiwon: Take route 36 East towards Cheongju. Once you go over the viaduct make sure you are in the right hand lane. Look for the sign for K.N.U.E. turn right and enter Miho. 1.c) From Seoul or Daejeon: Take the Gyeongbu Expressway (IC #1) to the Cheongju IC (Jochiwon/Cheongju exit). Go towards Jochiwon Route 36 west. Stay in the left hand lane. Continue West watching for KNUE signs. The turnoff is about 2 kilometers past the I.C. You will want to turn left at the sign and enter Miho. 2. Going Through Miho When you turn off highway 36, drive through the hamlet of Miho and continue until you see the sign to turn left to K.N.U.E. It will be the first traffic light after turning off route 36 and it will be a T intersection with an apartment complex just ahead on your right. It is just about one kilometer from route 36. 3. Entering Campus Continue down this road through the back gate of K.N.U.E. The first building on campus on your right is the K.N.U.E. high school and then a large soccer field etc. on your right. The venue is right across the street from the High School and it is a red brick building called the “Centre for In-Service Education” on the signposts. There is ample parking next to the building and in front of the high school. OTHER OPTIONS 1. Taxis In Cheongju a taxi can be hailed or a call van arranged (043-232-7575) to take you to the venue. A taxi usually takes 20-30 minutes and costs 7,000 to 10,000 won. 2. City Buses Frequent and regular city buses pick passengers up from KNUE campus at the rotary (see the campus map).     REPORT FROM THE FIELD Lessons Learned From Cases of COVID-19 Infection in South Korea Yun-Jung Kang, PhD ABSTRACT On December 31, 2019, the Chinese government officially announced that the country had a single pneumonia case with an unknown cause. In the weeks after, South Korea had 24 confirmed cases by February 8, and the number has increased steadily since then. The highly contagious virus known as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infected Case No. 31 in Daegu; she was the first patient related to Sincheonji Church. Later, the number of cases involved with Sincheonji skyrocketed. On March 6, 2020, the number of confirmed cases was 6284, with 42 dead. This study, through collecting epidemiological data about various COVID-19 infection cases, discovered that getting together in large groups leads to mass infection, and that paying close attention to personal hygiene by means of wearing masks, sanitary gloves, etc., can prevent the spread of COVID-19. Additional epidemiological data and related studies on COVID-19 infections in South Korea are likely to support or slightly modify this conclusion. However, this study is significant in that it emphasizes the precautionary principle in preventing and managing infectious diseases, and has a suggestion for public health policies, which are currently in high demand.
