Fuller Theological Seminary-David Allan Hubbard Library Archives Biography/Administrative History Harold John Ockenga (June 6, 1905 – February 8, 1985) was a leading figure of 20th century American , a leader in the reform movement known as "Neo-Evangelicalism." A Congregational minister, Ockenga served for many years as pastor of Park Street Church in , Massachusetts. He was also a prolific author on biblical, theological, and devotional topics. Ockenga helped to found Fuller Theological Seminary as well as the National Association of Evangelicals. He remained in his position as pastor of Park Street Church during his years as President of Fuller, traveling back and forth as often as was necessary. He served as President from 1947 to 1954 and again from 1959 to 1963. Scope and Content of Collection The Harold John Ockenga: Presidential Papers, 1929-1977 contains correspondence, addresses and papers of the founding President of Fuller Theological Seminary, Harold John Ockenga, as well as his correspondence as a Trustee of the Seminary.
