    MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV Looking for the Dance Looking for the Dance è un’estensione del mio percorso volto a catturare la danza nei suoi momenti trasformativi, più recentemente sviluppato nello stile delle milonga argentine e delle Odissi del sud dell’India. Durante il mio primo viaggio in India nel 2017 mi sono recato a sud, a Bangalore, nel magico villaggio di Nrityagram, dove ho trascorso del tempo con due dei migliori ballerini del mondo, Surupa Sen e Bijayini Satpathy. A Nrityagram, apprendisti e ragazze dei villaggi vicini imparano l’Odissi, la più importante danza tradizionale indiana. Mentre mi esibivo in Argentina, tra il 2014 e il 2017, sono ritornato molte volte nelle sale da ballo di tutta Buenos Aires, seguendo i passi del tango. Mikhail Baryshnikov Looking for the Dance is an extension of my journey to capture dance in transformative moments—most recently within the Argentinian milongas and the South Indian Odissi styles. On my first trip to India in 2017, I traveled south to Bangalore to the magical Nrityagram Village and spent time with two of the world’s finest dancers, Surupa Sen and Bijayini Satpathy. At Nrityagram, apprentices and young girls from local villages are taught Odissi, the premiere classical Indian dance form. While performing in Argentina, I returned several times between 2014 and 2017 to dance halls throughout Buenos Aires, following the footsteps of the tango.

During class Lourdes Lopez he would be playing along and then suddenly he would throw this fake plastic hand across the room and Edward would laugh. We were Michael Langlois working, but we talked and joked around a lot. It was really easygoing.     2021 FESTIVAL MOSAIC FACULTY SIBYLLE ACATOS-DADEY, ballet in person Ms. Acatos-Dadey began her formal ballet training in her native Switzerland. She furthered her studies at the Academie de Danse Rosella Hightower in Cannes, France and the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany. Ms. Acatos was a prize winner of the prestigious competition, the Prix de Lausanne, and enjoyed a career that spanned over 22 years. Chosen by George Balanchine, she began her professional career at the Grand Theatre de Genéve under the Artistic Direction of George Balanchine, with Director, Patricia Neary. With that company and later the Zurich Ballet, Ms. Acatos worked directly with Mr. Balanchine and as a soloist she danced roles in over 20 ballets by him. She also danced in the works of Jerome Robbins, Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Hans van Manen, Robert North and in classical ballets such as Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Le Coq D‘or and Cinderella. Ms. Acatos later joined Ballet Arizona as a principal dancer. Since her retirement from the stage, Ms. Acatos has dedicated her time to the teaching and training of future dancers. As a faculty member of the Arizona Ballet School under the direction of Kee-Juan Han she trained levels from Beginner 1 through Advanced. In 2003, she opened a school with her husband, now Scottsdale School of Ballet. Ms. Acatos is proud that some of her students are now dancing professionally. DEBRA AUSTIN, ballet via zoom Debra Austin received a scholarship to the School of American Ballet when she was 12 years old. Four years later, she was the first African-American female dancer to join the New York City Ballet.

Carlos Quenedit returns to Miami City Ballet as a principal dancer. Most recently, he comes from Houston Ballet and also San Francisco Ballet where he danced for three seasons in principal roles including Helgi Tomasson’s, The Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, Swan Lake, and Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote. Prior to that, he danced as a soloist for Miami City Ballet in 2009. He hails from Havana, Cuba where he trained at the National Ballet School of Havana. He was also a principal dancer with the Ballet de Monterrey in Mexico, a soloist with the National Ballet of Cuba, and a guest artist with the Joffrey Ballet, and Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
