They initially planned to create a learning and recreation center within the department. The medical staff of the department, however, felt that a more crucial need would be an isolation area to separate the patients suffering from leukemia from the other patients to prevent them from acquiring hospital infection brought about by the prevailing situation. The inauguration of the facility was held last February 18, 2015.
