PAR DAVID FAKRIKIAN 11 TERMINATOR 2 : LE JUGEMENT DERNIER ctobre 1990. Dans un cinéma géant de Los Angeles, les lumières de la salle baissent. Les bandes- annonces démarrent. Comme d’habitude, les spectateurs continuent de parler entre les previews, peu concernés par ce qui passe sur la toile blanche. Quand, soudain, un bruit synthétique déchire l’écran. La musique paraît familière. À l’image, des bras mécaniques se rejoignent, des gerbes d’étincelles éclaboussent le cadre. Une chaîne de fabrication apparaît. Et le tout, progressivement, forme un endosquelette en métal. On n’entend plus un mot. La salle retient son souffle. L’endosquelette vient se placer entre deux énormes presses industrielles qui se referment. Puis se rouvrent, montrant le squelette maintenant recouvert de chair humaine. Un corps apparaît. C’est celui d’un acteur que la salle reconnaît immédiatement : Arnold Schwarzenegger. La caméra remonte le long de ce corps – il serre le poing puis son visage et il ouvre enfin ses yeux, rouges comme l’enfer. Des portes en métal se referment sur l’écran, avec les bancs-titres « T2 » puis « Terminator 2 : Judgement Day ». -

One of the world’s most popular and iconic stars of stage and screen, Pacino receives a BFI Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding achievement in film. The presentation was made this evening during an exclusive dinner hosted by BFI Chair, Greg Dyke and BFI CEO, Amanda Nevill, sponsored by Corinthia Hotel London and supported by Moët & Chandon, the official champagne partner of the Al Pacino BFI Fellowship Award Dinner. Speaking during the presentation, Al Pacino said: “This is such a great honour... the BFI is a wonderful thing, how it keeps films alive… it’s an honour to be here and receive this. I’m overwhelmed – people I’ve adored have received this award. I appreciate this so much, thank you.” BFI Chair, Greg Dyke said: “A true icon, Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors the world has ever seen, and a visionary director of stage and screen. His extraordinary body of work has made him one of the most recognisable and best-loved stars of the big screen, whose films enthral and delight audiences across the globe. The announcement was made today by John Shaffner, ADG Council Chairman, and ADG Award Producers Dave Blass and James Pearse Connelly. “Jim Bissell’s work as a Production Designer is legendary and we are proud to rank him among the best in the history of our profession. He is an extraordinary artist and accomplished leader in the industry and it is our pleasure to name him as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient,” said Shaffner. A veteran leader of the ADG, Bissell was a past Vice President and a Board member for more than 15 years. He also chaired the Guild’s Awards Committee for the first three years of its existence. Bissell’s distinguished work can be seen on such notable films as E.T. the Extra- Terrestrial (1982), which took home four Oscars® with an additional five Oscar® nominations in 1983; The Rocketeer (1991), Jumanji (1995), 300 (2006), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) and most recently The Monuments Men (2014), directed by and starring George Clooney. SPACE - TITLE CARD 1 A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... A vast sea of stars serves as the backdrop for the main title. War drums echo through the heavens as a rollup slowly crawls into infinity. There is unrest in the Galactic Senate. Several thousand solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic. The separatist movement, under the leadership of the mysterious Count Dooku, has made it difficult for the limited number of Jedi Knights to maintain peace and order in the galaxy. Senator Amidala, the former Queen of Naboo, is returning to the Galactic Senate to vote on the critical issue of creating an ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC to assist the overwhelmed Jedi.... PAN UP to reveal the amber city planet of Coruscant. Two yellow Naboo Fighters fly OVER CAMERA toward the planet, followed by a large Naboo Cruiser and one more Fighter. 2 INT. NABOO CRUISER - DAWN 2 The LIEUTENANT and two SECURITY OFFICERS address SENATOR AMIDALA as the Cruiser nears the planet. LIEUTENANT Senator, we’re making our final approach in to Coruscant.
