NEW ORLEANS, LA MARCH, 23-24, 2019 JUDGES Mason Trueblood was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. His parents were the founders (and current owners) of Civic Dancer Center - the studio where he began his training in the arts. He then attended the University of California Irvine where he received both his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and his Bachelor of Arts in Film & Media Studies. Since then Mason has toured the world with the International revival of the Broadway Musical Bring it On: The Musical and is now currently residing in Los Angeles. Mason has had the opportunity to pursue both film and television, which he has done with great success. He can be seen on such shows as Glee, 2 Broke Girls, Switched at Birth, Girlboss, Best Friend’s Whenever, and Shake it Up! He can also be seen in films such as 1 Chance 2 Dance and Girlfriend’s Day (both on Netflix). Most recently Mason could be seen in Valley Girl (Choreographed by Mandy Moore) and as Fender in NBC’s Hairspray Live!" Glenda Menisa Morales grew up in the studio, loving the competition life! After high school she trained as a dance major until she was offered professional representation at a dance competition. It was then that she decided to finish school as an advertising major and begin her career in the dance industry. Since then she's danced for young artists like Keke Palmer, Ashley Tisdale, and Raven Simone. She's assisted and worked with well known choreographers including Tabitha and Napoleon, Tony G., and Zach Woodley. -

PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Publication Fourth edition of Hit The Floor Gatineau The National Capital about to dance to the beat of the largest multi-style dance competition in Canada! Gatineau-Ottawa, March 14, 2017 – From March 16 to 19, Gatineau will host Hit The Floor, one of the world’s most distinguished multi-style dance competitions, with a record number of more than 2,700 dancers from 60 Canadian dance studios taking the Casino du Lac Leamy Convention Centre by storm. Close to 800 dance routines of all levels will be performed in front of an expected crowd of 12,000 spectators. The wide range of dance styles include contemporary, ballet, lyrical, open, jazz, tap, acro, musical theatre and hip-hop. “The City of Gatineau is proud to be a partner of this event, which generates economic benefits of some $2 million for the region”, said Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, Mayor of Gatineau. “Besides increasing our region’s visibility, this activity inspires our citizens and encourages them to get active and make dance a part of their lives”. Eight dance schools from Gatineau will join the competition: Atelier de danse Carole Brouard, Danse Acad’Amy, École de danse Anick McConnell, École de danse Rosanne Philippe, Studio de danse Pirouette, Studio de danse Danielle, Studio de danse FOOTSTEPS and Studio de danse MV. Yellow Skin, White Masks Mina Yang Abstract: Ethnic studies scholars have long bemoaned the near absence of Asians on the big and small screens and popular music charts in the United States, rendering them as outsiders vis-à-vis the American public sphere. In the last few years, however, Asians have sprung up on shows like “Glee” and “America’s Best Dance Crew” in disproportionately large numbers, challenging entrenched stereotypes and creating new audiovisual associations with Asianness. 2021 Summer Intensive Faculty Brooke Lipton’s energy is contagious. A native of Phoenix, AZ, Brooke was a rising star in the LA dance scene at the young age of 12. She spent her summers dancing at the LA studios and conventions and was highly sought after by the industry’s top choreographers. Brooke moved to LA to pursue her dream of being a professional dancer, and has worked with artists such as Madonna, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Paula Abdul, to name a few. Brooke toured the world with Britney Spears for over eight years. She choreographed for six seasons on FOX’s hit TV show Glee, which had over 750 musical performances. Glee’s phenomenal success also included two world tours, “The Glee Project” Season 1 and 2, and Glee Live 3D The Movie. On Glee, Brooke worked with such iconic stars as Shirley Maclaine, Carol Burnett, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristen Chenowith and Ricky Martin. Brooke’s choreography can be seen on shows like ”Bones”, “The Goldbergs”, “Chasing Life”, “American Horror Story”, “The New Normal”, “DICE”, “Bosch”, ”Strange Angel”, “The Funny Dance Show”, and “Lucifer”. Hard at work in the dance world, she is also a mother of two children. She continues to teach internationally, giving back to the community that she loves so much. Preston Mui grew up in San Francisco. After training in modern and jazz at the School of the Arts High School, he moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in dance. He graduated from the scholarship program at the Edge Performing Arts Center and began working as a professional dancer. -

I sign up to dance classes to learn as many types of dances I can. Dancing requires fitness; mentally and physically. which is also based on shared rhythmic and monotonous group activity. I had the dancing bug since I was a child. Dance routines are similar to exercises and they keep me active. My mother is unsure who I got the dancing gene from, but my father thinks it s from my grandmother. Kathak is a classical Indian dance which is performed to the beat of drums as an enactment of a story.
