About our breeding cattery of british cats
Thank you for your visit and interest in our cattery. We would like to introduce our small, breeding cattery, Silver Legend, member of SZCH and FIFe /Federation International Feline/. We are located in smaller town, Nitra around 90 km from the capital city of Slovakia.
Our fascination for cats started when we found a small lovely black kitty. It was the Autumn of 2004. The kitty’s name is Sandra and she has been living with our family till today.
Our cattery, Silver Legend, breeds British shorthair cats with green eyes in the colors black silver blotched tabby (BRI ns 22 64) and black golden shaded (BRI ny 11).
Our cats are part of our family. They are tested for cat virus illnesses FELV/FIV. They have also been genetically tested for PKD. In addition, the blood-group type has already been determined by DNA. Our cats have regular veterinary care and vaccinations against Catflu, Panleukopenia, Rabies and Leukosis. Some of our cats come from breeders in Germany, Holland, Belgium and Sweden, who also test their animals for PKD and HCM.
We started our breding project in 2005, when we imported British silver tabby male FAUN SUPRA FELIS from a Polish breeder, and four months later, his future wife, GRYFFINDOR'S SILVER FLEUR DE FLAUCH, from a German breeder. Our first kittens were then the babies from Faun and Fleur. Later on we decided to add a new colour to our breeding project: the golden shaded color. The first golden shaded cat was imported from Germany in 2006: beautiful boy GOLDEN WOLLY VOM WAHRBERG. A little later, his wife, S*LITHO'S SUNBEAM arrived from Sweden. The two couples, silver tabby and golden shaded, became the very heart of our breeding project.
In time, when we started our breeding project, silver tabby cats were very rare in Slovakia and other European countries. Furthermore, very few people had seldom heard of or even seen golden shaded cats. Both of these colors had charmed us so much that we decided for them to start our breeding project .
The aim of our dream in terms of breeding is to develop our own line always producing animals that carry an excellent type and character in these two color varieties: tabby and shaded. We are right now building the basis for this dream.
About the breed: British Shorthairs are very friendly and affectionate cats that appreciate attention without becoming a nuisance. British Shorthair males are large and strong cats and usually act as if they are the "boss" in the family. They are not very active, but every once in a while they like to pretend they are still kittens. British Shorthair females act like British ladies. These cats are very easy to groom as their fur does not tangle and requires minimal care. The fur is short, but extremely dense. This characteristic creates a plush effect, and the cats look like light grayish-silvery teddy bears with a big smile to top it off.
We have kittens two - three times a year. Our kittens enjoy love and undivided attention from us. They are happy cats! For this reason, we are always looking for similar new homes where they will continue to be loved, nurtured and pampered. We guarantee that the kittens are in perfect health when they leave the cattery. A contract is signed with the new owner and the kittens leave the cattery with their pedigree at 16 weeks of age, dewormed, and fully vaccinated. Our cattery breeds healthy and happy kittens that make affectionate companions as well as exceptional competitors at a show ring.
