Kalamazoo's men's tennis team won its 54th consecutive Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan lS crown, while the volleyball team won its second straight MIAA title. Hornet teams also captured Founded: 1833 firsts in women's tennis and men's and women's soccer. Enrollment: 1,271 President: Dr. Lawrence Bryan Nickname: Hornets Kalamazoo continued to lead the MIAA in all-time team championships, increasing its cumulative Conference: Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association total to 219 during the 1991-92 school year. The runner-up league institution has won 153 team titles. National Affiliation: NCAA Division III lS Team Colors: Orange and Black The men's tennis team won an unprecedented sixth NCAA Division III championship in May, defeating the University of California-Santa Cruz in the finals. Lewis Miller won the Division III lS singles title for the second straight year, becoming the first player in Division III history to win back to-hack singles championships. Other teams qualifying for post-season competition were volleyball & and women's soccer. The volleyball team was ranked third in the nation and the women's soccer Fall Athletic Staff Phone Directory* squad was ranked sixth in the final poll. Teams qualifying individuals for post-season action were women's tennis and men's and women's swimming and diving.
