Customer Services Enquiry No.: Logged by: Love Clean Streets on: 03/12/2017 14:28 Officer: Steve Hodd (HS-) Service: Carriageway Subject: Condition Classification: Request for service Enquiry Ref: Desc.: Travelling along the A285 from Dunction towards Petworth close to the crossroads with Rotherbridge Lane and Haslingbourne Lane there is a manhole cover. On the right hand side of the manhole cover the tarmac is severley broken/depressed leaving a significant hazard to drivers and motorcyclists. This was only obvious to us after we had hit the pothole with the front off-side wheel. The force shocked driver and passenger and triggered the automatic door release mechanism to open and the drivers side parking light blew. The vehicle is a Mercedes C class with sports suspension. We are currently unaware of any further damage at this time but the impact was severe. Due to the type of road in questions and the number of cars travelling at speed there was no safe place to stop and take photographs but the area in questions would be obvious to any highway inspector.
