Debussy’s Six épigraphes was originally composed for the pia- no. In this performance, the Royal Concertgebouw Orches- Symphonic Dances, Op. 45 tra presents the version for orchestra by the Dutch composer Rudolf Escher from 1977. With Britten’s Les illuminations, the orchestra pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the British composer. The soloist of this work is the celebrated British tenor Conductor Andris Nelsons Ian Bostridge. Britten’s work makes for a nice contrast with the Orchestra Royal Concertgebouw Slavic energy of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, a work of Orchestra genuine symphonic colour and grandeur.
