This report is submitted by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering, which monitors and regulates Florida's pari-mutuel industry, cardrooms and slot machine gaming located at pari-mutuel facilities. Florida pari-mutuel wagering produced $30.2 million in revenue to the state. Total wagering, including Charity/Scholarship performances, approached $1.5 billion. Additionally nearly $1.5 million of pari-mutuel wagering revenue was distributed to the Principal State School Fund (Department of Education) from unclaimed tickets. Florida cardroom wagering produced $5.4 million in revenue to the state. Total wagering amount approached $54.2 million. In the past fiscal year approximately $677,021 was distributed to counties and municipalities where cardrooms are located. Florida slot machine gaming produced $63.2 million in revenue to the state. In the past fiscal year, $49,720,981 was distributed to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (Department of Education) from slot machine gaming tax revenue. This is the 76th annual report in the series. The first annual report was issued for Fiscal Year 1931/1932, the initial year of legalized pari- mutuel wagering in Florida. In Florida, pari-mutuel wagering is authorized for thoroughbred horse racing, harness horse racing, quarter horse racing, Appaloosa and Arabian horse racing, greyhound racing, jai alai games, and cardroom poker games. Florida is also authorized for slot machine gaming at pari-mutuel facilities in Broward County. Florida is one of the primary pari-mutuel states in the nation, and is the leading state in greyhound racing, as well as a major horse racing state. Florida is now the only state in the United States that continues to conduct live jai alai. This annual report, which is required
